3G Auction Possible On January 14 – The Despair Continues!
2009-10-26 07:36:00 At the 3G India 5th International Conference held in Mumbai, gags were cracked about the 3G auction delays and business drivers for 3G in India were also discussed. Later the Department of Telecom (DoT) announced yet another date for the auctions to take place i.e. January 14, two days after which the auction for broadband wireless access (BWA) and CDMA spectrum will be commenced. However in the retooled information memorandum released by the DoT a precise frequency band to be be auctioned has not been defined, that’s due to the discrepancy with the defence services. At WATBlog, we’d mentioned that the defence services needed more time for testing and security clearances before they vacate the spectrum i.e., 20 MHz for 3G and 25 MHz for 2G services and shift to an optical fibre network that has been developed for them by BSNL. The DoT said the External Commercial Borrowing guidelines have been relaxed to permit External Commercial Borrowing (ECB) up to $500 million to f...

The Travolta?s First Public Appearance Since January
2009-09-12 21:16:00 There’s no doubt that it’s been a very hard year for the Travolta family. After losing their son in January, they each as individuals seemed to fall apart. Understandably so. John Travolta couldn’t be seen, much less interviewed, except for driving a golf cart around his massive estate in the wee hours of the morning. ...

Bellagio Slot Tournament, January 2009
2009-06-03 08:54:00 Here's the food pics from Bellagio's invitational slot tournament back in January, 2009. It was Super Bowl day, and there were big screen TVs so you could watch the Super Bowl, also there was a marching band, and food and drinks, of course. Bellagio tournaments always have pretty good food, although this tournament, the food wasn't that great. There was good stuff, but not everything was good. Like desserts. That was so disappointing. They used to serve higher quality desserts.CLICK HERE for pics from Bellagio slot tournament in 2008.CLICK HERE for pics from Bellagio slot tournament in 2007.CLICK HERE for pics from Bellagio slot tournament in 2006. Weekly Awards For The Comic Books From January 28, 2009
2009-02-04 17:50:00 All right, it is time to dish out The Revolution?s weekly awards. As always, the followers of The Revolution chimed in with plenty of great comments. I went ahead and gave the award for the comment of the week to Ilan the Portlander Rebbe in response to the Final Crisis #7 review: ?After reading and re-reading final crises and shifting through all the online commentary, I am convinced that one of two things is the case. Either Grant Morrison is genius of such unparalleled vastness that it would make Shakespeare and Milton weep, or he decided to knock off early and turned over writing duty to Timmy, an eight year old on acid suffering from severe ADHD. You can see that this is Morrison?s baby, and that his overall vision is rather brilliant. But as they say, the devil is in the details, and in his case, the details go everywhere. The story goes everywhere, and frankly, every plot seemed like it needed its own mini-series. We never get answers to so much. Where and why did Captain...

January 2009 - Monthly Review
2009-02-01 16:21:00 Well its 2009... I hear about new layoffs and new aspects of the financial crisis every day. I am so thankful to be working right now and I've done my best to stay focused on the goal. As of January I only have about $781 left to pay on my credit card. Huge weight lifted off of my shoulders, but that's really only the beginning. As much as I want to celebrate this milestone, I'm really only back around zero. And technically I've already gotten myself back into debt - sort of. I had planned to get myself a new computer this summer. Mine is outdated and starting to act flaky. Have you ever gotten the blue screen of death? Its a regular occurrence for me these days. Plus my CPU can't handle some of the advanced engineering software I use at work and plan on using at home to prepare for a certification exam this summer. Long story short - I'm getting a new computer and I'm not paying for it in cash. Whaaa? Yes, its true. I'm getting it on a credit line at 0% which...

Tonight’s TV Addictions: Saturday January 31, 2009
2009-01-31 18:47:00 WHAT WE’RE WATCHING: SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE (11:30PM NBC, Global in Canada) Taking a break from over 202 plays on our iPhone, Jason Mraz stops by SNL with Steve Martin returning for his 15th time as host. NEW & NOTABLE: ANCHORMAN: THE LEGEND OF RON BURGUNDY (8PM ABC) Like many Will Ferrell flicks, you’ll either love this or hate it. Oddly, I find this edited version a lot more palatable than the original. CRUSOE (8PM ABC) They’re calling this a “first-season finale”, but I’m gonna go out on a limb and call it a series finale. SUPER BOWL’S GREATEST COMMERCIALS (8PM CBS) For some of us, commercials are the best part of the big game. So it can’t be too surprising that someone was smart enough to package the best of the best like this. But the program does create a major dilemma for those of us who usually go to the bathroom during commercial breaks. I mean, the show is commercials buffeted by commercials! (more…)

Tonight’s TV Addictions: Friday January 30, 2009
2009-01-30 21:34:00 WHAT WE’RE WATCHING: FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS (9PM NBC, GlobalTV in Canada) One of the things we’ve always loved about this show is the sense one gets that these are, for the most part, real people in the real world. Tonight’s a great example, as Smash worries how his mom is going to pay for college. Maybe they should hang out with Billy and Tim, who are cooking up a money-making scheme. For that matter, maybe weshould hook up with them. A little extra cash never hurt anyone… right, Mr. Madoff? BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (10PM Sci Fi, Space in Canada) Or as we’re calling tonight’s installment, Valkyrie in Space [Click here for spoilers] NEW & NOTABLE: WIFE SWAP (8PM ABC) A fast food-lovin’ mom switches places with a woman who is big on healthy living. Can’t we all just get along? HOWIE DO IT (8PM NBC, Global in Canada) A woman invites her loved ones to watch as she marries a stranger on a television show. SUPERNATURAL (9PM CW, CityTV in Canada) Think hell is tough? That’s nothing compared to high school, as Sam and Dean find out while investigating a series of murders at their alma mater. How can you not love an episode titled “After School Special?” NEW & NOTABLE: UGLY BETTY (8PM ABC, CityTV in Canada) Endless reruns like this. Extended hiatus. Yeah, ABC isn’t trying too hard to kill off Betty and company. SMALLVILLE (8PM CW) Ever wonder how the economic recession is impacting LutherCorp? Weekly Awards For The Comic Books From January 21, 2009
2009-01-28 20:59:00 All right, let?s go ahead and dish out The Revolution?s weekly awards. Let?s do the comment of the week award. This week I am going to give the best comment of the week to Kirth responding to the Dark Avengers #1 review. Kirth commented: ?So THIS was Bendis' BIG IDEA. The idea which REQUIRED Secret Invasion to happen in order for Dark Reign to "make sense". Yeah. Right. I'm a little underwhelmed. It worked as a story, but I don't see how this "replacement Avengers" story REQUIRED all that Secret Invasion la-la. Oh yes...And once again we see the story impediment know as "The Sentry" poking his ret-conned, way-too powerful presence into yet another comic. Can't he fly into space and..........I don't know, do "stuff" in space with spacey characters and not serve as the plot hole to "drive the endgame truck" through. If he's really Marvel's Superman then have him DO something SUPER. Have him lead or leave, because if this series of comics ends like World War Hulk did, I...

I Read The News Today Oh Boy: (Tuesday, January 27, 2009)
2009-01-28 13:30:00 "I Read The News Today Oh Boy" is a new thing I'm trying out here. Each week I'll spend one day taking pictures throughout my day, and then post those (probably on Wednesdays. Don't Wednesdays need a little spicing up?) It'll be mostly pictures, lessly writing -- to give an idea of what I do when I'm not pretending to give Mr F a time-out at the playground because he shoved a kid down the slide, pretending because (a) Mr F didn't know it was a time-out and (b) the kid had it coming; he was blocking the slide (c) the kid was four years old, if not older, and Mr F just took it to him, so I was secretly proud. So here'sI Read The News Today Oh Boy For Tuesday, January 29, 2009: 1. Our kitchen, 7:40 a.m. That's lunch and breakfast on the counter. I'm coming down the stairs. Off to another exciting day!2. January seasonal trade
2009-01-28 06:00:00 "One of our favorite, and very reliable trading systems involves being long the market over the end of the January and into early February," says Larry McMillan (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2788) in The Option Strategist (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2788)."Se-asonality is transitioning from bearish to bullish as a bullish seasonal period is now due to commence. In addition, potentially positive month-end mutual fund influences may help exacerbate these positive seasonal factors."The January trade system is a simple one: buy 'the market' at the close of the 18th trading day of January (which occurs on January 28, 2009), and exit at the close four days later."Declines in early and mid-January – as we’ve had again this year – are also often helpful to the trade. The reason this trade works is that institutions usually receive a cash inflow at the start of the year, but don’t put it all to work right away."Ho...
