Jarrett Bush

Thumbs up photo of the day (8/19/2007)
2007-08-19 16:05:00
Today's thumbs up goes out to Packers cornerback Jarrett Bush for his two interceptions in the win over Seattle. Bush's performance helps his chances in a bid to become the Packers' nickel back. He nearly had a third interception that hit his hands as well.Welcome to the Railbird feed. Eat up.
Big surprise: Driver, Favre, Woodson look good
2007-08-17 00:50:00
Practice was pretty much what you'd expect in the very last of two-a-days for the Green Bay Packers during training camp practice this morning. Veteran players who one would expect to look good did look good."Wide receiver Donald Driver made a leaping catch of a Brett Favre pass over the middle with cornerback Jarrett Bush in coverage," writes Mike Vandermause of the Green Bay Press-Gazette."Cornerback Charles Woodson intercepted a Paul Thompson pass intended for wide receiver Carlton Brewster," Vandermause continues. That's about par for the course for those three Pro Bowl players.Welcome to the Railbird feed. Eat up.
Packers hit bowling alley
2007-08-15 15:10:00
Visiting an appropriately named bowling alley called Pro Bowl in Suamico, Wis., head coach Mike McCarthy had the entire Packers team at play on Monday night."While the team dined on pizza, they also engaged in competitive bowling," reports Mike Vandermause of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "Cornerback Jarrett Bush took home individual high honors by rolling a 212."Fortunately, Walter Sobchak of the Big Lebowski wasn't there to enforce the rules."Over the line!"Three players were held out of practice on Tuesday due to lower back problems including Al Harris, Nick Barnett and Donald Lee."McCarthy half-jokingly blamed the back trouble on the team's surprise bowling trip Monday night to Pro Bowl in Suamico," writes Tom Pelissero of the Press-Gazette.Harris's injury occured before the bowling.Welcome to the Railbird feed. Eat up.
Clowney and Martin state cases
2007-08-14 15:52:00
Neither David Clowney nor Ruvell Martin are assured of roster spots with the Green Bay Packers. Although they're making it tough for the Packers to cut them."Patrick Dendy had pretty good coverage, but rookie David Clowney used his blazing speed to make a fine over-the-shoulder catch from Aaron Rodgers," reports Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "Then Ruvell Martin went long to make a tough grab against clinging coverage by Jarrett Bush."It's imperative for Clowney to show he can be more than just a return man. But Martin could make the team based upon his height advantage.Welcome to the Railbird feed. Eat up.
Walker has a mountain to climb
2007-08-10 18:54:00
According to the August 6 issue of the Sporting News, "Free-agent pickup Frank Walker has the inside track on the Packers' nickel back job. He's a bulldog at the line of scrimmage, which fits the defense's aggressive philosophy.Well, in the short amount of time between when the article was written and now, Walker has some catching up to do."Heading into Saturday's preseason opener at Pittsburgh, Walker looks like he's No. 6 on the depth chart at cornerback," writes Rob Demovsky of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "With starters Al Harris and Charles Woodson sitting out on Thursday evening, Walker remained with the No. 2 defense behind Jarrett Bush and Patrick Dendy. When defensive coordinator Bob Sanders went to his nickel (five defensive backs) package, he used Will Blackmon as his third corner."Walker could be going the way of Matt O'Dwyer, a free agent pickup in 2005 who never made the team out of training camp. The Packers will likely take a small hit on their salary cap, but ...
Malone's injury sufaces again
2007-08-03 14:24:00
"Cornerback Antonio Malone sat out practice after the knee he hurt this spring in NFL Europa swelled," reports Tom Pelissero of the Green Bay Press-Gazette speaking of the Packers' night practice on Thursday.Malone had been performing well early on in camp including two interceptions of Brett Favre during the same drill earlier in the week. He's a long shot to make the roster, though. There's already six cornerbacks on the roster worthy of an NFL roster in Charles Woodson, Al Harris, Patrick Dendy, Jarrett Bush, Will Blackmon and Frank Walker. It's doubtful Malone could overtake those players to earn a roster spot. It's doubtful that even the top six will all be with the Packers by the time the regular season rolls around.
One step forward and two steps back?
2007-08-01 17:52:00
It's really hard to get a gauge on Green Bay Packers cornerback Will Blackmon (pictured during his playing days at Boston College). His athletic ability is praised and lauded, but when will potential turn into on-field production? On the plus side, Rob Demovsky of the Green Bay Press-Gazette says that Blackmon "likely has the greatest potential. (Packers secondary coach Kurt) Schottenheimer called Blackmon 'as gifted as anybody we play back there.'"A source at Packer Udate had to say, "The only player that really excites me as a returner is Blackmon. His explosiveness reminds me of [ex-Packer] Allen Rossum, but he needs to show enough at corner to justify being part of the 45-man active roster on game day.?But for every bit of good that's said of Blackmon, it seems like there's more bad. Blackmon is currently working with the third string defense behind obvious starters Al Harris and Charles Woodson but also behind Patrick Dendy and Jarrett Bush as well.Reporting on Tuesday's p...
Blackmon finally makes an impression
2007-07-30 14:56:00
Good news for Green Bay Packers cornerback Will Blackmon who lately seems to be getting negative press all the time."Will Blackmon made a spectacular interception of an Aaron Rodgers pass when he stole the ball out of receiver Greg Jennnigs' hands. It was the second interception of the night for Rodgers, who was also picked off by cornerback Jarrett Bush," reports Mike Vandermause of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.For the sake of both Packers fans and for Blackmon, himself, keep it up.
A closer look at the depth chart
2007-07-29 17:24:00
The depth chart recently released by the Green Bay Packers gives some insight into the players fans should be keeping an eye on as training camp progresses.People put a lot of attention on the starting lineup, but the second and third string is where attention needs to be focused. It is these players that will round out the final roster of 53. This is where head coach Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson will have tough choices in early September whether to keep or release certain players.A look at the depth chart located on the Packers' official website and also released to reporters on Friday reveals a couple things.Getting a lot of attention in the mainstream media is first round draft choice Justin Harrell already being listed with the first string ahead of Corey Williams despite a solid season by Williams in 2006 and an injury plagued season for Harrel last year as well. Both players barring the unforseen will undoubtedly make the Packers' roster. And the depth chart may not be far ...
Jarrett Bush plays on defense
2006-09-17 22:24:03
Towards the end of the first half newly acquired cornerback Jarrett Bush got his first instance of playing time on the defensive side of the ball. On one play Bush was providing coverage against Saints receiver Marcus Colston. And while this particular pass was incomplete, it was more due to an overthrow by Drew Brees than the poor coverage by Bush.
