2008-07-11 18:18:00
In case you haven?t seen it, the big news today is Jason Calacanis?s announcement he has retired from blogging. Why Facebook isnt Google - Jason Calacanis
2008-05-24 11:55:00
"Social networking is second only to chat rooms as the worst place to advertise. The content there from your friends and your family is more compelling than any advertisement. Google has the greatest advertising in media history ? search advertising. When you type a word into the box, we know what you're looking for. When you're on Facebook, we know you're looking to meet a girl or talk to your friends. It's a terrible platform for advertising. The holy grail of e-commerce forever has been that people are going to buy something online because their friends did, or that everybody here is into skiing so we're going to sell a bunch of skiing stuff. It hasn't happened. Plus, e-commerce is a low-margin business. It's nowhere near search inventory."Source: Valleywag

2008-05-23 14:03:00
Along with the “no future” fable in recent days we have seen another talk of the town or rather the global village: Spreading false information as SEO tactic of link baiting. Now I’m really glad! Finally Google will ban Jason Calacanis for spreading false information about SEO (”SEO is bullshit”) and his web directory Mahalo. ...
Jason Calacanis borrows Elon Musk?s Tesla Roadster

That's Jason at the wheel - Photos by CK Sample IIIFor those unfamiliar with the history of this site, a little background. AutoblogGreen and our elder sibling Autoblog are both part of the Weblogs Inc. network of blogs. Weblogs Inc. also includes sites like Engadget and its off-shoots, Joystiq, TUAW, Cinematical and many more. Weblogs Inc. was founded by a gentleman named Jason Calacanis and his business partner Brian Alvey in 2004 and in late 2005 they sold the company to AOL who own it to this day. Jason eventually went on to some other endeavors and most recently launched a human generated search site/directory called Mahalo.com. Along the way he also decided to plunk down some of the cash that he accumulated from building and selling his various enterprises on a Tesla Roadster. Jason wasn't one of the earliest customers and unlike everyone but Tesla Chairman Elon Musk has yet to receive his new battery-propelled speed machine. Fortunately for Jason, Elon apparently took his k...
How to be Popular: Overheard on Twitter #5
2008-04-11 22:34:00
18 minute old Twitter account - 2 updates - 400 followers. The math doesn’t add up, does it? You know what happened? Jason Calacanis said “follow him.” (I took out my angst on the picture, can you tell?) I really enjoyed refreshing every 3 seconds to see another dozen or so followers adding Mr. Modine, and some ...

2008-03-08 22:25:00
Jason Calacanis has owned the front page of Techmeme–the world’s most influential technology and Web 2.0 news aggregator–for the past 18 hours and counting. Another Civil War in Silicon Valley? Well, it’s war anyway–even if not civil. Aussie Duncan Riley of TechCrunch fame bodyslammed Jason after his Calacanis.com post on how to run a startup. ...
Affiliate Summit West: Jason Calacanis Controversial Keynote
2008-02-29 20:33:00
I know there was a lot of blog out there already speaking about Jason Calacanis Keynote speech but I want to put my version out on this issue as well. I will be talking about 4 sessions I went to and how it was beneficial and how it was ehh. The 4 sessions I visited were on split days and proves to be worthwhile and 1 was just jibber jabber. But first I would like to talk about the first session I went too which was Jason Calacanis speech. I never heard of Jason but I have heard of Mahalo and have used it. But Jason posted a reaction about his speech on his blog. I myself do understand what he is talking about BUT to an extent. I just got in to affiliate marketing by ways of PPC and micro sites and I now do it legit, though I lose money here and there I do not try to pollute the pond per say. Jason started by simply saying Affiliate Marketers are scummy spammers, well not in those words but that is what he got across. This I agree because we care about clicks that the user experienc...

According to Techcrunch: Jason Calacanis, the former CEO of Engadget?s parent company, Weblogs, Inc., told me earlier today that the site had nearly 10 million page views on Tuesday when they covered the iPhone announcement - ten times their normal traffic of a million or so page views per day. Wow.. What a page view. That only means that there are lots of people around the world wants to catch the latest Technology that CES and Macworld had exposed. But is it another war versus Online Blogging and Printed Media News Because in Printed Media we need to wait for another day or month till we know the latest things around the world. Not to mention we have to pay this things unlike in the Internet we just have to browse and read. Are we seeing the end of Printed Media? . If most of the people in the future had Internet Connection then who will then waste their money buying the printed News. If I where them I just buy a printer and Print it our for future reference. or I may print thru ...

"Frankly, most SEOs are really smart and hard working; they're just horribly misguided. They focus too much on the tricks to get people in the door and not enough on what people eat when they're inside the restaurant."
