Mr. Taylor Goes to Washington
2008-07-23 15:48:00
Woodland Hills High School?s own Jason Taylor is now a member of the Washington Redskins after being traded from the Miami Dolphins for a 2nd round draft pick in 2009 and a 6th round pick in 2010. Personally, I?m excited that I?ll be able to see the Pittsburgher in action as I haven?t watched too many Dolphins games over the years. Actually, I probably won?t watch many Redskins games either, but I?ll see highlights on local television and hear about the team on area radio. I hope that he has 15+ sacks and returns to the Pro Bowl. If the Redskins turn out to be 1-15, I?d be fine with that too. There seems to be some mixed reactions about the trade. Overall, I think most Redskins fans are excited about adding an established pass rusher, but there is some concern about whether giving up a 2nd round pick is too much. In addition, The Washington Post?s Mike Wise writes that "the Redskins genuinely have to worry where Taylor's heart is in regard to football."However, I feel like mos...
The Jason Taylor Saga: What's next?
2008-06-03 06:15:00
Trust me, I really don't want to talk about this any more than some of you do.  However, I thought today's post wouldn't focus on who is right and who is wrong and how some of us fans may or may not be losing respect for Jason Taylor.  Instead, let's talk about what eventually might happen here to rectify this situation so that we can all move on. Around the internet today, there are some interesting theories on what might occur.  So let's talk a little bit about this ideas being thrown around. In his Monday Morning Quarterback column (the best NFL column around, in my opinion), SI's Peter King says that the only relevant piece of information to come out of Taylo's Sunday press conference was that Jason only plans on playing one more season.  And King, like many, agrees that JT's declaration will only reduce the chance of him getting traded.  After all, not many teams will give up what the Dolphins are looking for in return for a player who is only e...
Jason Taylor Press Conference: 11:30 am Sunday
2008-06-01 08:27:00
Well Sunday will be the day Jason Taylor finally goes public with his trade request. Just as "lancelolink" writes in this fanpost, Taylor will hold a press conference at 11:30 am on Sunday.  And according to reports in the Miami Herald and the Sun-Sentinel, Taylor will publicly announce that he has indeed requested a trade to a contender.  This shouldn't come as a shock to anyone.  And it's great that Taylor will finally act mature about this and say exactly how he feels rather than hiding behind his agent and privately requesting a trade. But what if a trade doesn't happen because the Dolphins can't find a suitable partner offering what they perceive as fair value?  According to the Herald, Taylor has a movie offer on the table: If he is forced to retire, Taylor has options. One is a movie offer that begins shooting in October. Taylor will pass on the offer if he's playing for another team. If not, he will seriously consider accepting the offer. And the $4...
Obligatory Jason Taylor Update #2
2008-05-29 02:59:00
This is getting very old and tiresome.  However, it's also getting more interesting.  Earlier today after playing in the charity golf event in Iowa, Jason Taylor had some interesting words for the Associated Press.  He said: "I'm under contract with the Dolphins. So again, I'm looking forward to playing some golf." "Football doesn't start until July and training camp, so I'll be all right. I've been in L.A. and so far removed from it. Like I said, 'I'll deal with that when I get there." This report in the Sun-Sentinel also says that a meeting was supposedly planned between Taylor and the Dolphins sometime after this tournament.  But the Dolphins apparently canceled this meeting. Rotoworld reports that Taylor is scheduled to meet with the media in Miami on Sunday, likely in regards to his charity golf event down in South Florida, of which the Dolphins are partners in. The only thing I got to say is that Taylor's choice of words are kind of questionable...
Jason Taylor Dancing His Way Out Of Miami?
2008-05-28 21:33:00
As Jason Taylor finished second on Dancing with the Stars, he may have also danced his way off the Miami Dolphins.Since Taylor isn't expected to take part in any training camp activities it has irked Bill Parcells and coach Tony Sparano. It appears both sides are unhappy with eachother, that may signal the end of his tenure as a Miami Dolphin since 1997. Jason Taylor was the only Miami Dolphin to be selected to the Pro Bowl, so moving on without him may not be the best thing for rebuilding.Defensive tackle Vonnie Holliday said that Taylor's absence hasn't been a distraction to players."All they want to know is if and when he's coming back," Holliday said. "That's the only issues we have with JT right now."Jason Taylor has been on and off the trading block, with Jacksonville being interested. Owner Wayne Huizenga has said the team is open to trading Taylor. In the draft, Miami took two defensive ends in the second and third round.Last season Jason Taylor has 11 sacks to make his...
Obligatory Jason Taylor Update
2008-05-28 21:25:00
No, there's nothing new here to talk about.  But there are some more confirmations on teams that are not interested in trading for Jason Taylor. First, John Clayton writes in his blog that the Chargers are indeed not interested, seconding what we originally heard late last week: If you had any questions about the Chargers' interest in Jason Taylor, scratch them from your thoughts immediately. The Chargers aren't interested in trading for Taylor, according to a source. With Shawne Merriman and Shaun Phillips as the team's main outside linebackers, the Chargers aren't looking for a starting outside linebacker. Plus, they are already down a second-round choice in 2009 from a draft-day trade. The Dolphins still haven't had an offer better than a fourth-rounder for the former NFL defensive MVP. Meanwhile, the Ravens were another team being floated out there in connection with Taylor.  You'll remember that last week, a Baltimore radio station reported the Dolphins and R...
When Hard-Nosed meets Stupid
2008-05-23 01:16:00
When the Dolphins hired Bill Parcells to run the show everybody knew what they were getting. Hard-nosed, big, and tough is what Parcells brings to the table. But where do you draw the line between old fashioned and Hard-nosed, and just downright stupid.I think the line has been crossed. Tony Sparano is the man the Bill Parcells made head coach to help instill his style of play into his team. Tony Sparano is also the man who just recently called out the Dolphins' best player, Jason Taylor.Sparano recently escalated the feud going on between the team and Jason Taylor by saying,?I know that Jason is not going to be at any (offseason workouts), know that Jason is not going to be at any minicamps, and I know that, right now, Jason is not going to be at training camp. So that?s what we know. Jason is a player under contract with the Miami Dolphins. He knows that. Both parties are well aware of the information. That is all I am going to say about it. I am going to talk about our players n...
Edyta vs. George Novak
2008-05-22 16:24:00
During Tuesday night?s Dancing with the Stars finale, Jason Taylor said that his dance partner Edyta Sliwinska, was the best coach he had ever had. (Yes, I?m admitting that I watched the season finale. Before you make fun of me, how many of you can say that someone who played sports at your high school was a finalist on Dancing with the Stars? I thought so!) Therefore, I thought we should go back and compare Edyta to Taylor?s Woodland Hills High School football coach, George Novak.- Woodland Hills High School football coach for over 20 years- WPIAL (Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League) Championships in 1996, 1999, 2001 and 2002. - NFL players from Woodland Hills coached by Novak include Taylor, Ryan Mundy, Shawntae Spencer, Lousaka Polite and Steve Breaston.- Has never won the PIAA (Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association) championship.- Dancer for over 15 years. - Emerald Ball Latin Amateur Champion; 1st place - 2001 International Grand Ball (San Fra...
Jason Taylor Mad with Bill Parcells, Tony Sparano and The Miami Dolphins?
2008-05-22 04:49:00
Folks I’m MAD...what the HELL is this new Miami Dolphins organization doing? Why is my homie, Jason Taylor upset? What is Bill Parcells and the new head coach, Tony Sparano, doing to Jason Taylor? They must be saying or doing some rather brutal things for this loyal and All Star, Pro Bowl Defensive player to not want to participate with his beloved Miami Dolphin teammates. Jason Taylor is a true gentleman and has always been 100% with the Miami Dolphins - a true warrior. Something ain't right folks. Now, I almost lost it when they relaesed Zach Thomas, another true Dolphin...now there after Taylor. I’m telling you, this mess happens every year with this troubled team and I am so tried of it. I do trust Bill Parcells, he’s a proven winner, I feel he is needed here, but what’s going on? Could Bill Parcells be antagonizing, harassing my buddie, Jason(Superman) Taylor? Well, that’s what’s floating around in my Miami Dolphin mind, somebody saying something or somebody doing ...
Jason Taylor Boycotting Offseason: Prepare for Trade Rumors
2008-05-21 22:05:00
In a move that will surely set radio shows and message boards afire, Miami Defensive End Jason Taylor is not attending any offseason activities with the Dolphins, including Training Camp.  Head Coach Tony Sparano announced Taylor's intention to boycott in his OTA press conference today: "This is my reaction with the Jason Taylor situation and I'm going to answer this question one time," Sparano said. "I'm not going to answer another question about the Jason Taylor situation after I answer this. Here's what I know. What I know is that Jason Taylor – and I'm glad we know this, we've gotten the information and that's important – but I know that Jason is not going to be at any OTAs, I know that Jason is not going to be in any mini-camps and I know that right now Jason is not going to be at training camp. This, obviously, effects the Jaguars as they have long been connected to rumors of interest and trade talks.  It seemed as though these talks came to an a...
The Jason Taylor Era In Miami Appears To Be Over
2008-05-21 22:02:00
As a longtime Dolphins fan, it’s sad to see it come to this but at the end of the day it’s probably the best option for Taylor. New Dolphins coach Tony Sparano made it pretty clear to reporters today that Jason’s status with the team is in extreme jeopardy. ?I know that Jason is not going ...
Jason Taylor to skip training camp, demands trade
2008-05-21 20:37:00
Head coach Tony Sparano, at his press conference today following an OTA, decided to tell the media exactly what's going on with this Jason Taylor saga.  And it's getting ugly: "This is what I know and I'm glad we know this. We got new information and that's important. I know that Jason is not going to be at any OTAs [Organized Team Activities]. I know that Jason is not going to be at any minicamps. I know Jason is not going to be at training camp." "Jason is a player under contract with the Miami Dolphins. He knows that. Both parties are well aware of the information. That's all I'm going to say about it." It's also being reported that Taylor's agent has told the Dolphins on many different occasions that he will not be reporting to training camp for the Dolphins because he is demanding a trade. So now this is getting very ugly and it's going to be interesting to see who blinks first. Will it be Taylor, as he gets hit with a fine each day he misses training camp? ...
Jason Taylor to miss this weekend's mini-camp
2008-05-20 17:30:00
Well we already knew that Jason Taylor likely wouldn't be in Miami until Thursday at the earliest because he has commitments to Good Morning America and Live with Regis and Kelly.  Well, after those, he'll be flying back to Los Angeles to handle some things there, whatever that means.  What it means to the Dolphins is that Taylor will not be at this weekend's first veteran mini-camp.  Yes, it is voluntary and all, but I'll all but guarantee you he'll be the only veteran not at this camp.  Here's what he writes for his ESPN.com blog: And a lot people are wondering if I'm then going to fly to Miami for Friday's voluntary minicamp. Well, I won't be there. I'm going to be in L.A. on Friday. Got some things to do there. I know what the reaction's going to be: Oh, he's the leader of that team, and he needs to be there. But, see, there're different types of leadership in sports. There're guys that can talk all the time, and try to lead by saying: "Oh, thi...

The Flyers got blown out, the Phillies frustrate you, Barkley is a dope, the Eagles red zone was not so bad, there have been 100 consecutive losing seasons in Philadelphia, and plenty of news from around the NFL. Here is the photoshopped picture of DeSean Jackson flying. Thanks to EaglesFans.com for this. Lincs to check out: The Flyers ...
The story that won't go away...because Jason Taylor will not let it
2008-05-14 06:15:00
I'm as sick of this story as anyone right now.  But it just won't die, and this time that is thanks to Jason Taylor himself.  In a blog for ESPN The Magazine, Taylor wrote the following: It'll be strange to see [Zach Thomas] in another uniform this coming season but that's the league nowadays. He'll go continue his legacy in Dallas, and I'll go and continue my legacy in…oh, I'm not talking about that right now. Continue your legacy where?  Where, Jason?  Tell us! Seriously, this is something he didn't have to write.  This story had seemed to quiet down for now since the draft last month.  But then Taylor, who is a smart guy, just had to add in that little part above.  Think about it.  Taylor could have easily said he'd be continuing his legacy in Miami, and then that would be that.  And even if it wasn't true and he did still want out of South Florida, he could have just written "Miami" just to keep things quiet for now...
More Jason Taylor info coming soon?
2008-05-08 22:40:00
Here's something interesting that a reader e-mailed to me, after which I further looked into it. Earlier today, Yahoo's Jason Cole was on the Jorge Sedano Show on 790 The Ticket.  Cole and Sedano talked about things like "spygate" and the Cedric Benson stuff.  But at the very end of the interview, which can be heard right here, Cole tells Sedano that he was on the set of Dancing With The Stars earlier this week.  Sedano then asks Cole if there's any news on Jason Taylor, to which Cole replies: "Not yet.  Maybe either tomorrow or Monday there'll be a story on it." Could there actually be some new info on this JT saga?  Maybe.  Or it could be that Cole wants people waiting for his latest column on Yahoo! Sports and he's trying to just drum up some interest in it.  I guess we'll have to wait and see what Cole has, if he indeed has anything at all.

The Jason Taylor Saga: Enough is Enough
2008-04-30 06:15:00
Listen, I'll preface this by saying that I love and respect Jason Taylor.  He's done so much for this organization, giving his heart and soul to this franchise for 11 years.  He's truly an all-time great football player - and he's an even better person off the field. With all that said, I simply can't stand crap anymore.  I really can't.  I'm tired of reading about it and I'm tired of worrying about what might happen.  And the media is a big reason why this mess seems to be spiraling out of control.  Think about it.  Bill Parcells and Jason Taylor both have massive egos.  But if this whole saga was kept behind closed doors and the media didn't let it leak out, then this wouldn't be the issue it has grown to be.  But now we are in a situation where neither man wants to let his ego be damaged by "bending over backwards" for the other. However, now we get people in the media leaking out stories like this one : Two weeks ago, Taylo...
Bill Parcells Gave Jason Taylor The Cold, Pasty, Liver-Spotted Shoulder
2008-04-29 07:53:00
In my last post, I gave the Dolphins front office a little props for possibly trading Jason Taylor so he could play for a team that competes. Well, according to this article in The Miami Herald, not everyone appears to be huge Taylor fans. Jason stopped by the Dolphins facilities to visit team mates participating ...
Wow? A Sports Team With A Heart?
2008-04-27 19:04:00
Pro Football Talk picked up on a Sun Sentinel article that quoted Miami Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga saying Jason Taylor “deserved” to be traded. That’s a classy move coming from a franchise that has absolutely no chance of winning. Jason Taylor has given the Dolphins 9 or 10 years of hall of fame qualty play, ...
REPORTS: Dolphins have offered Jason Taylor to Redskins, Bucs
2008-04-26 01:35:00
I'm sure these rumors will continue from now until tomorrow night, but here's the latest. First, as originally pointed out by "Layuma" in this FanPost, the Washington Post reports that the Dolphins offered Jason Taylor to the Redskins in exchange for their 1st round pick, number 21 overall.  The report says that the Redskins are indeed shopping their pick, but the Redskins "don't see Taylor as a goof long-term fit with what they are trying to accomplish." Meanwhile, the St. Petersburg Times is reporting that the Dolphins and Bucs have been involved in talks regarding Jason Taylor: Here's the latest tidbit I've dug up through various channels: there appears to have been some discussion between the Dolphins and Bucs about a possible deal that would bring Jason Taylor to Tampa, probably for the Bucs' second-round pick. I've also been told that Taylor is not opposed to the idea because he has informed associates he would like to remain in Florida if traded. The article goe...
Jason Taylor Roundup
2008-04-24 13:30:00
This will likely be the story that you'll be hearing about most between now and Saturday's draft.  Despite Bill Parcells coming out and saying earlier this offseason that the only way Jason Taylor isn't a Dolphin in 2008 is if he retires, rumors continue to swirl regarding Jason's future in Miami.  And now with the Jared Allen deal between the Vikings and Chiefs completed, many believe that Taylor is the next big name pass rusher who will be wearing a new uniform in 2008. A lot of these rumors stem from a report in the Sun-Sentinel that says the Dolphins are indeed shopping Taylor, according to two NFL executives: A day after signing Michigan's Jake Long, the Dolphins have turned their attention to acquiring another first-round pick, according to two NFL executives. And it appears they are shopping star defensive end Jason Taylor to do it. The goal is to corral another player at the top of their draft board, one the organization fears might not be around when they s...
NFL Buzz: Jared Allen, Shaun Alexander, Jason Taylor, and Anquan Boldin
2008-04-24 04:10:00
Couple note worthy items (not worthy of individual posts): The Minnesota Vikings have officially acquired Kansas City Chiefs drunk DE Jared Allen. The Bounty: (1) 1st Round Pick, (2) Third Round Picks, and a swap of 6th round picks (which moves the Chiefs up 5 slots, they traded the pick they received from the Bucs for RB Michael Bennett, hmm). The Vikes locked up Allen with a 6 year 74 million dollar deal... I'm definitely not sad to see the Bucs lose out on Jared Allen (if you can call it that). This leaves the door wide open for a Julius Peppers signing next off-season and Allen is one drink away from a train wreck. Good luck in Minnesota No. 69, eh Don't look now, but the Miami Dolphins have put Pro Bowl DE Jason Taylor on the trading block. It's rumored the Dolphins are looking for a first round pick in exchange for Taylor and that JCat would not get traded until his potential suitor is on the clock.. The Lions, Bucs, Jags, and Eagles are rumored to be potential destin...

RUMOR: Next up for Miami: Trade Jason Taylor
2008-04-23 04:05:00
Now that the Dolphins have signed their #1 pick, Jake Long, it's now time for the organization (and the trifecta, to be specific) to move on to other things.  One of those things, of course, is the rest of the draft, which as I point out here is very important to the future success of the team. But the other thing the Dolphins must do is decide on the fate of Jason Taylor.  And as CBS Sports' Clark Judge writes, the Dolphins are already working hard on moving Jason Taylor: he Miami Dolphins are busy. While they were working to finalize a five-year contract with first-round draft pick Jake Long, they were operating behind the scenes to strike a deal with another team for defensive end Jason Taylor. Two clubs whom the Dolphins contacted confirmed Tuesday that Miami is shopping Taylor, looking for a mid-to-low first-round draft pick in return. As much I love Taylor and everything he's meant to this organization, parting with JT would be very easy to deal with if the Fins ...

However, he has told the team that he'd like to take Huizenga up on the owner's offer, according to multiple sources close to the player. Dacing Stars Christian De La Fuente, and Cheryl Burke attend The Dereck Fis
2008-04-10 11:19:00
Cheryl Burke and Cristian de la Fuente at a private fundraiser Hosted by Versace and Laker Derek Fisher on April 9, 2008 at Versace in Los Angeles, California. The Dancing With the Stars couple look so cute together don't you think? That's what we thought about Cheryl and Drew Lachey and then rumours started circulating about them being a couple and Cheryl being a home wrecker for breaking up the marriage between Drew and His Wife. We were initially going for Christian to win the Dancing trophy, but after seeing Jason and Mario on the stage we have to put Christian in third place, but its not to us right, its all about who America thinks. Jason Taylor's Next Stop Should Be Hollywood!
2008-04-09 11:29:00
Jason Taylor could and should be the next Hollywood action star when he decides to retire from the NFL. There is no doubt that Jason has movie star good looks. If he does decide to switch over and take on Hollywood he should pick and choose his roles, because one cheesy movie with damage his reputation for ever. Madonna did swept away and Mariah Carey did that movie Glitter, which people are still talking about. Will he follow in Emmit Smith's footstep and win the Dancing with the stars trophy? We will just have to wait and see. This season Jason and Mario are our favorite stars on the show and should reach very far in the event if not the final showdown. (photo via wireimage)
Jacksonville Jaguars offer Third Round Pick for Jason Taylor
2008-04-03 01:35:00
[editor's note, by River City Rage] Props and thanks to reader NASF for pointing this story my direction!Update [2008-4-2 22:2:41 by River City Rage]:: JagsMac and MyTeamCanBeatUpYourTeam from the Jaguars.com Message Boards have an interesting idea. Trade our first and Third round pick for Jason Taylor and Miami's Second Round pick. We move back six spots on the first day and have two (solid track record) Second Round picks, and get Taylor. Not a bad idea, not bad at all... The Miami Herald is offering up another piece of the Jason Taylor puzzle.  What makes this one different is that it's not their "blog" making the connection, but rather their actual sports section. The Quote: Even the Jaguars -- who appear at this point to be the team with the most interest in Taylor -- are believed to be willing to give up only a third-round pick. The Dolphins likely would only take a first-round choice or an early second-rounder for him. A third round pick for Jason Taylor, not a ...
JASON TAYLOR: MIAMI DOLPHINS DANCE
2008-03-27 04:48:00
Yeah, that was him, that was ma man, Jason Taylor, strutting his stuff on “Dancing With The Stars”. What cha think? Did he delight you? Did he excite you? No New York Jet, no New England Patriot, no Buffalo Bill - not even a New York Giant could ever move like that...only a Miami Dolphin could have pulled that off. “Dancing With The Stars” will never be the same. Look at ma man in action, eat it up ladies:Yeahh...Yeahhh...that’-s how we Miami Dolphins get down...all day, all night. Hello ladies. Me, Jason Taylor and the rest Miami Dolphins crew say: "We love ya".
Jason Taylor might be a Jaguar? Sounds Familar...
2008-03-26 04:03:00
Huh, look at what Pro Football Talk found. That sounds really, really familiar.  Almost like I've read that before. Oh Wait... We did hear about this before.  Right here on Big Cat Country, no less. The Miami Herald Blog reports:I have been told by one NFL scout and one NFL assistant coach that Jacksonville coach Jack Del Rio (pictured) likes the idea of trading for Taylor. I am not sure exactly how far Del Rio has gone with this -- be it considering it and discarding the idea or actually pursuing the issue. But I do know the scenario of adding Taylor has been on the coach's mind. I will continue snooping around with some league sources and ask Del Rio about it directly at the NFL's annual meeting in Palm Beach next week. We'll soon find out if there is fire associated with this smoke. So there you go, my informed speculation gets a little more interesting. -Chris
Jason Taylor: the dancer and the football player
2008-03-25 22:21:00
First off, let's start with Jason Taylor, the football player. Armando Salguero has posted a new article in his blog that talks about the possibility of Jason Taylor being traded to the Jaguars: I have been told by one NFL scout and one NFL assistant coach that Jacksonville coach Jack Del Rio (pictured) likes the idea of trading for Taylor. Now, not to pat myself on the back too much, but I actually talked about the Jaguars having high interest in trading for Taylor in this article posted back on March 6: But I've been told by a rather trustworthy source th...
RUMOR: Jason Taylor to be traded to Jaguars?
2008-03-06 06:08:00
Update [2008-3-6 0:8:3 by Matty I]: Some people have e-mailed me asking about the cap implications of trading Taylor. From what I can find, it seems as though Taylor is owed a prorated bonus of $2.02 million in both 2008 and 2009. So the Dolphins would take a $4.04 million cap hit by trading him. But considering his salary for 2008 is $7.5 million with a $500,000 bonus due, Miami would still be clearing space by trading him. And if you're looking for more on this potential trade, check out Chris's latest post over at Big Cat Country. Also note, I've reset the timestamp of this article to keep it as the first post. It was originally posted at 8:41 pm est. [end update] And this Jason Taylor saga continues. Yesterday, Taylor told ESPN's Kenny Mayne the following: "I have no idea where that [story] started, how it started. People are looking for stories but I'm the wrong person to ask because Bill and [Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland] call the shots there and neither have spoke...
Informed Speculation: Jacksonville Jaguars to trade for Jason Taylor
2008-03-06 03:13:00
Jason Taylor: Future Jaguar? Update [2008-3-6 0:52:0 by River City Rage]::I added some emphasis, just for clarity. Update [2008-3-5 21:36:41 by River City Rage]::The Phinsider was kind enough to give us a scouting report on Jason Taylor, I've added a Scouting Report section! From the Rumor and Speculation Department: The Jacksonville Jaguars are going to make a play for Miami Defensive End Jason Taylor.  It's becoming absolutely clear that the next move will be to trade for and sign the veteran Defensive End.  Jason, who will be 33 at the start of the 2008 Season is a fantastic player on the trailing edge of his career.  Currently the Dolphins deny that Taylor is on the Trade Block though it's becoming no secret that Taylor is available for the right price.  A 2nd round pick and a 4th round pick, to be specific.  Taylor has also expressed a desire to be on a championship caliper team, though he'd never come out and say it and hurt his sta...
Dolphins to "part ways" with Jason Taylor
2008-03-02 01:52:00
Yahoo's Jason Cole is reporting that the Dolphins and Jason Taylor will part ways between now and April's draft: Miami Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor has already moved away from South Florida. The only thing left is to figure out his next address. Three sources close to the Dolphins organization said this week that Taylor and the team he has been part of for 11 years have graciously agreed to part ways between now and the NFL draft April 26. There's no animosity between Taylor and new Dolphins guru Bill Parcells or coach Tony Sparano. There are just plans that each side has. Those plans don't include each other. The one rumor making rounds all over the internet is that the Packers are willing to give Miami a 2nd round pick and a 4th round pick for Taylor.  Another rumor is that the Vikings are offering their 2nd round pick and 3rd round pick.   So I leave the floor open to you all: what would you NEED to get in return in order to part with Jason Taylor?
Courtside Recap: George Mason vs. Delaware
2008-02-22 17:26:00
Would it have been rude of me to have asked George Mason basketball coach Jim Larranaga to sit down during Wednesday night?s game against Delaware? He was blocking my view for much of the second half! You see, I lucked into VIP tickets where I sat two rows behind the Mason bench. With the exception of my brother?s JCC basketball games when he was in elementary school, this was the closest I have ever been to the court. I wasn?t even this close watching my high school?s basketball games, which featured an awkward center named Jason Taylor who I don?t remember scoring more than six points in any game. Apparently, he?s now dancing with the stars or something.Anyway, being a VIP wasn?t just about being close to the court. It also meant free food and drinks! I felt a little out of place given that most of the VIPs probably donated thousands of dollars to the university. I was just a guy there with some friends that happened to have a connection for the night. Did I mention that ...

Jason Taylor next to leave Miami??
2008-02-16 04:16:00
Here's just a quick little tidbit that I received in an e-mail from a reader. He says that Adam Schefter was on with Sid Rosenberg this morning on 790 The Ticket.  Schefter reportedly told Sid that he believes that the Dolphins will be listening to offers for Jason Taylor once free agency begins.  He believes that the Dolphins would trade Taylor for a 2nd or early 3rd round pick. With that said, I want to hear if you'd want the Dolphins to trade Taylor.  Is an early 3rd round pick worth it? In my view, Taylor has much more value to the Dolphins than a 3rd round pick would.  If Miami could get a 2nd rounder, then I'm all for trading him.  After all, it's clear this regime is in retooling, if not rebuilding, mode and a 2nd round pick is quite valuable.  It would give the Dolphins 3 2nd rounders and 5 of the draft's first 64 picks. Again, I'm all for trading Taylo for a 2nd round pick, as hard as it would be to part with him.  But for a 3rd roun...
Jason Taylor Named Walter Payton Man Of The Year
2008-02-04 02:13:00
Moments before the kickoff of Super Bowl 42 between the Giants and Patriots, Miami Dolphins Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Taylor was presented with the Walton Payton Man of the Year award for his substantial contribution in the community and off the field.Taylor, the 2006 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, becomes the third Dolphin to be honored with the Walton Payton award. Hall of Fame center Dwight Stephenson (1985) and quarterback Dan Marino (1998)were the first two fins to receive the recognition for their hard work when away from the field.
REPORT: Jason Taylor to have surgery (updated)
2008-01-24 18:15:00
Oddly enough, BuffaloBills.com is reporting that Jason Taylor needs to undergo some offseason surgery: Taylor suffered a torn plantar fascia (foot) late this past season that will likely require surgery. Now that's all it says in the article, which is about Aaron Schobel replacing JT in the pro bowl because of this foot injury.  What we don't know is how serious this is.  Worst case scenario, though, would be that Taylor misses some (or most) of the spring practices.  It's not like he needs those practices anyway.   Regardless, it's something to keep an eye on. **UPDATE**: The Palm Beach Post confirms the injury and Taylor's decision to pull out of the pro bowl. But this story also says surgery is not needed: Taylor battled discomfort for the second half of the season before eventually tearing the plantar fascia on his left foot against Baltimore on Dec.16. The injury causes pain to the bottom of the foot and heel, but typically doesn't require surg...
Defensive Impact: Jason Taylor
2008-01-08 06:02:00
There was a lot of talk this season about how some believed that Jason Taylor lost a step. It's hard to argue that he didn't have the same kind of year that he had in 2006, which was a career year. But his 2007 season wasn't as bad as some would like to believe. So using the Impact Plays Index that can be explained right here, let's see how much of a drop-off there was for JT between 2006 and 2007. But also keep in mind that the IPI is just an overview of one's overall impact on a defense. It's hard to quantify the total impact a defender has on his defense. Jason Taylor Year Tackles Sacks Ints TDs PDs FFs FRs TFL Blk IPI 2006 62 13.5 2 2 11 9 2 6.5 1 122.5 2007 55 11 1 1 4 4 3 6.5 1 93.5 As you can see, there was a drop off. But it's not really that big of a drop off. A lot of the drop off stems from the fact that T...
Tuna Wants JT to Stay, No Idea on Cam

Bill Parcells, the Dolphins’ newly named executive vice president of football operations, isn’t ready to decide on the fate of first-year coach Cam Cameron or General Manager Randy Mueller, but Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Taylor is another matter. (Sun-Sentinel)Share This
Jason Taylor to the Broncos?

The newest entry of the Rumor Mill comes from Jeff Legwold of the RMN, who wrote an interesting piece about Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor potentially coming to Denver in a trade this offseason. The reigning defensive MVP might not be having that caliber of a year this season, but he’s still posting great numbers with ...

Jason Taylor going to Hawaii!!
2007-12-18 22:19:00
The Pro-Bowl rosters have been announced and you can view them right here.  The only Dolphin to make the squad this year?  It's none other than our all-time great defensive end, Jason Taylor!!  Taylor is 5th in the AFC with 10 sacks.  He also has 4 forced fumbles, 4 passes defended, a blocked field goal, and an interception returned for a touchdown.  He will be the reserve defensive end, as Jared Allen and Kyle Vanden Bosch will be the starters.  That's despite the fact that Taylor has 1 more sack, 1 more forced fumble, and 1 more pass defensed than Vanden Bosch.  Vanden Bosch is also without an interception or a touchdown, but does have 1 more tackle than JT.  Taylor should be starting on this team, but oh well. Also, from the "feel-good" file, safety Sean Taylor was voted onto the NFC Pro-Bowl squad as the team's starting free safety.  That's great and is well-deserved, as he was having a great season until tragedy struck. Thought...

PFW: Jason Taylor likely to be traded
2007-12-12 22:32:00
We've been hearing these kinds of rumblings all year long, and now here's another.  And this one is from a credible source.  Pro Football Weekly reports that Jason Taylor wants out of Miami.  Here's what they say: Jason Taylor wants out of Miami. We hear that the 11-year veteran, who has spent his entire career as a Dolphin, is bothered more than most players by the winless season and wants to go to a team that he deems a contender. While he hasn't come out and said it, he tacitly affirmed his willingness to be traded around the trade deadline this season, and while no deal was struck, we hear it should happen this offseason...It stands to reason that Taylor will be looked at most seriously by teams that play a base 3-4. Miami could conceivably attract a first-round pick for him, but a more likely scenario is a second-rounder. If the Dolphins could get a 1st round pick for Taylor, that would be an absolutely great trade.  I love Taylor just as much as the nex...
Giant Jason Taylor
2007-10-28 16:25:00
I am very intrigued by this giant Jason Taylor robot. Is this really helping to promote American football in London? Maybe "Big JT" was designed to keep the pigeons out of Trafalgar Square.Personally, I'm hoping to see "Big JT" come to Pittsburgh and visit Woodland Hills High School, where the real JT played football. I'd love to see Big JT walking on the Parkway East, although I'm not sure how he'll get through the Squirrel Hill tunnel. My favorite part of the video may be where the announcer attempts to define a sack.
