The Denver Broncos on Friday released linebacker Ian Gold and wide receiver Javon Walker, Head Coach Mike Shanahan announced. Gold, a ninth-year player, spent seven seasons with the Broncos (2000-03, '05-07) and appeared in 99 games (67 starts) with the club, totaling 542 tackles (426 solo) and 16.5 sacks. He played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the 2004 season. Walker, a seventh-year player, was with Denver for the last two seasons after he was acquired in a trade from Green Bay on April 29, 2006. He played 24 games (21 starts) for the Broncos, totaling 95 receptions for 1,371 yards (14.4 avg.) with eight touchdowns.

The Denver Broncos may release WR Javon Walker reports Comcast Sports Net. Rather than pay the Wide Receiver the 5.4 million dollar roster bonus he's due to make on March 4th, its widely speculated that the Broncos will just cut him, making him a free-agent. The Eagles, Bucs, and Redskins are expected to be in the running for Walker's services. If all we have to do is sign Javon to bring him aboard, then I'm all for it. Would I get excited about it? Probably not.. the guy hasn't had a clean bill of health in the NFL, plus whenever he's had decent success, he's complained for more money, so I'm not geeked up for a Walker signing, but I do think its a decision worth muling over by GM Bruce Allen.

Ok, even I will admit it.  Javon Walker will not be a Bronco very much longer.  Whether it is by by trade or simply his outright release Walker will not be back.  I had hoped that despite Walker's comments that the team and the player would find a way to coexist.  That appears impossible now, which leads us to believe just how bad it had gotten in the locker room. In a rambling briefing with the press, Walker essentially said he longer wants to be with the Broncos. "It's not for Javon," Walker said. "It's not for me." Walker bounced and back and forth and said that he'll do whatever the Broncos decide but he concluded by saying that being here is not for him. Walker even suggested a return to Green Bay. I have been talking about it all off-season.  Here on the site, and on Wednesday Night as part of MHR Radio.  Wounds, still fresh and painful, would be reponed as the team convened for the start of Training Camp.  For every memeber of the team who know Darrent Williams or Damian Nash are dealing with the pain of knowing neither will suit up this season.  For Javon Walker, who was there and witnessed Darrent Williams fatal gun-shot wound, the pain had to be that much worse.
