PinoyBlogoSphere.com - Jeepney Fare Increases by 0.50 On May 21, 2008 in Me
2008-05-18 15:31:00 Source: www.PinoyBlogoSphere.com - Sad announcement to all commuters. Effective May 21, 2008. Jeepney fare in Metro Manila will increase by P0.50. This means the jeepneys will charge each passenger P8.00 for the first four kilometers. It seems that the P20 that will be granted to workers would be reduced by this additional burden to our pockets. A short computation, the P20 per day multiply by 26 working days will give us P540 but since this is subject to income tax, the take home amount would be less. I guess most of us would save a bit by walking a few blocks if possible. Thanks for subscribing to the PBS feed (P.B.S.)

on jeepneys, headlights and super vision
2007-12-04 16:16:00 I previously blogged about my earlier success in changing my car's busted headlight. In relation to this, while I was driving this evening to pick Conne up from work, I passed by a couple of road mishaps involving jeepneys. It didn't take long for me to realize that the most probable reason why these accidents occur is because, as some of you might agree, there are a lot of jeepneys plying our roads at night that have busted headlights, or even worse, deliberately don't turn their headlights on! Do these guys have super vision or something? If they do, well, here's some news for them, most of us ordinary drivers and pedestrians don't!I'm not sure what the statistics are, but by my own observation, I believe that one in four jeepneys travel our roads at night without any headlights on. Come on, if some of these negligent drivers can afford to dress up their jeeps in avant-garde art and spend a lot on ear-damaging sound equipment and funny(?) clown-laugh horn signals, then I thin...
Fast Foods, Malls, Jeepneys, and Trains are Full of Win!
2007-11-04 15:10:00 Public transportation is fun. You get to see all sorts of people. You encounter the Orcs, the Geeks, the Stupids, the Assholes, the Goody-Two-Shoes, the Hotties, the Godawful Fags, etc. Don’t take me wrong. I have nothing against these people. I just enjoy observing their sense of fashion and their utter stupidity. I’ve managed to ... [ This is a content summary only. Visit PinoyBlogoSphere.com for full links, other content, and more! ]

Jeepney
2007-09-26 20:41:00 The last time I rode a jeepney I was 8 and I remember being whipped in the face by the hair of the woman sitting next to me. A little down further down an old man sat, clutching a basket with a chicken clucking inside and the mountains were passing by at exhilarating speeds outside. I absolutely loved it. We were all wedged in, shoulder to shoulder and knee to knee, making conversation with the person across the way or just trying to avoid staring at someone. That was the first time I saw a woman flash a boob and feed her baby, without any thought to her fellow passengers. What also amazed me was how the driver managed to remember all the stops, collect the correct payment and hand back the right change, mostly while driving.

Pinoy jeepney is the king of the road; you?re an idiot for not trying it
2007-09-13 08:15:00 Really, if you have gone to the Philippines and yet you were unable to experience the thrill of riding a "dyipni" [jeepney], that?s idiotic. Because one, jeepney is an icon of our history and culture. Two, you?ve never seen anything like it before. In fact, you won?t see anything like it anywhere else in the entire universe. Three, you missed the fun of seating shoulder-to-shoulder with A LOT of wonderful Pinoy who?re also commuting! What?s the point of going to Pinas without getting familiar with perhaps, THE most ubiquitous, most visible Pinoy icon!?History The word ?jeepney? or ?dyipni? is a coined name derived from the English words, ?jeep? and ?knee.? The terms were mixed together to describe the face-to-face seating of passengers inside it. It also suggests the fact that when you ride a jeepney, you?ll be in a very close proximity with your co-passengers that your knees may very well rub against each other. The history of this widely used vehicle dates back in the 1940s?. After...

Electric Jeepney
2007-07-07 09:48:00 A few days ago, I read that two electric jeepneys were leased to Makati. I appreciate the efforts of Makati City to reduce pollution and hope that more cities would follow.
