Jeff Ireland press conference recap
2008-04-17 20:02:00 For the first and last time prior to the NFL Draft, which is just 9 days away, Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland met with the media. So what was the highlight? Well, when asked about a question in regards to something along the lines of drafting players with potential against drafting productive college players (I do forget the actual wording of the question), Ireland actually made a slip up and said something about drafting the best player for this defense. The room burst out in laughter to which Jeff asked what he just said and the reporters pointed out that he said "for the defense." Ireland tried to correct himself, but it was an interesting moment. More on this as I hear it. Update [2008-4-17 13:22:16 by Matty I]: Here's the actual quote of the slip. Ireland said about the first pick, "You hope that he's a pillar of your defense for a long time." Then everyone laughed and it was pointed out to him what he had said. Ireland responded, "A pillar of your defense or offense, ...

Jeff Ireland to talk publicly tomorrow
2008-04-17 03:14:00 I just wanted to point out that you can watch GM Jeff Ireland's press conference tomorrow live on miamidolphins.com. It's scheduled to begin at 12:30 EDT. This is the last time the Dolphins will publicly talk about the draft before April 26's first pick. It'll be interesting to see what, if anything, Jeff says about their potential negotiations with the players who could be the top pick. While most teams end up saying very little at these press conferences, there is a belief out there that Ireland will actually be more honest than others: The truth is the Dolphins are acting quite civil about this whole draft thing. Ireland will talk about the draft for the first time Thursday. He isn't expected to unveil Miami's plans, but he isn't likely to lie either. And the reason one can be relatively certain Ireland won't lie Thursday is that he turned down multiple requests to talk about the draft last month at the NFL annual meeting. The reason Ireland had ...

Jerry Jones, Crazy Yet Classy
2008-01-03 16:03:00 There must be a unwritten rule among NFL owners regarding the hiring and firing of front office guys. Jerry Jones displayed that during the whole process of the Dolphins interviewing of Jeff Ireland… ?First of all the way I feel is that it?s great opportunity for Jeff, one I really on a personal basis wanted ...

**OFFICIAL: Jeff Ireland hired as GM**
2008-01-02 21:39:00 **UPDATE #2**: With Ireland's hiring now official, we wait on Cam's future. However. though nothing is official, word is beginning to trickle that Cam Cameron may have actually been fired last night. Down in the comments section of this post, "Matt" tells us that ProFootballTalk has this to say in a recent post on their site: With Ireland in place, our guess is that the Dolphins will now fire coach Cam Cameron. In fact, a tipster who told us that Ireland would be hired today also said that Cameron was actually informed of his termination on Tuesday night. Since reading this, I remembered reading an article earlier this afternoon (though I can't seem to find it) that said Cameron had not been into the facility at all today up until that point, which I believe was around 1 pm. I've since contacted one person who has informed me that he cannot confirm that Cam has been into work today. Has he already been told he would be fired? It would make sense. But it's all specula...
