Nacieron en San Francisco California y eran lidereados por Marty Balin a la voz, acompaņado de Grace Slick, Jorma Kaukonen a la guitarra principal, Paul Kantner a la ritmica, Jack Casady al bajo y Spencer Dryden en la bateria.A grandes rasgos, tienen toques de Blues, Folk, Psychedelic y mucho Rock; la voz de Grace Slick es hermosa - igual que ella - y sin duda es una de las mejores que ha tenido la historia del rock, en fin, que les puedo decir, Jefferson Airplane es uno de los grupos mas fuertes del rock clasico.
