F1: Button wants a 2009 title shot
2008-01-15 23:12:00 We've a hunch, here at Brits on Pole, that we are currently looking at the definitive turning point in Jenson Button's career. In a year or two, we suspect, we'll know whether his recent statements about how Honda should be aiming for a title in 2009 were right on the nail, or whether he was playing on a very dusty wicket indeed (to confuse our sporting terminology for a moment). And, at this point, it's completely impossible to tell which it will be.

RoC: Germany wins, no-one much surprised
2007-12-18 18:07:00 It was at Wembley. There was a German team, and it included Michael Schumacher. Nobody was therefore very surprised when the 'retired' F1 legend and his team-mate Sebastian Vettel wiped the floor with their English, French, Scandinavian, American and Scottish competitors in the Nations Cup race. But, just for once, Schumacher didn't have it all his own way.

F1: Button, unsurprisingly, welcomes Brawn move
2007-11-16 18:07:00 It is a maxim drummed into fresh-faced young news reporters before they are unleashed from training college and allowed out into the world to cause trouble. Jenson Button “Religion blunts chances”
2007-04-08 21:44:00 Friends of Jenson Button today revealed that there might be religious aspects to the British Formula 1 driver’s lack of success in Motor Racing."Well, I know Jense well," said James Billingsworth from Frome in Somerset. "Why else would I refer to him as Jense? In his seven years in F1, and in his previous career in the lower formulae, he has never really raced on a Sunday. I think that it is a devout Christian belief."Friends believe this, rather than any question marks regarding the Englishman’s talent, is the reason for a lack of race wins and championship success."Oh certainly he will drive on a Sunday, but he just won’t compete!" claimed Mr Billingsworth, citing the Briton’s performances as evidence. "You never see him overtaking, and he doesn’t defend his position at all well, both of which would mark him out as a racing driver. What he does is drive neatly around, respecting the Sabbath."Friends point out that Button’s only F1 win came at the 2006 Hungarian Grand P...
Jenson Button captures 1st career victory in a wild Hungaria
2006-09-03 08:24:06 Round 13 in the Formula 1 World Champion, the Hungarian Grand Prix would be one for the record books as rain and a very wet racetrack would play a huge factor in what would be describe as an exciting and unpredictable race. In yesterday’s qualifying section, Kimi Raikkonen grabbing the pole, while both Alonso and Schumacher were given time penalties putting them in mid-pack of the starting grid. On the start of the race, it was the two McLaren-Mercedes up front leading the way with the Renaults and Ferraris fighting it out for position behind. The wet racetrack made for lots of passing and even more incidents, including Kimi Raikkonen’s wild airborn ride as he tried to make his way by a lap car, making contact shedding his car’s frontend in pieces putting him out of the race. By the mid-race point, it looked like Fernando Alonso had everyone covered with about a 30-second lead over second place. During the race, the racetrack had finally started to dry out on the r... |
