$15 off JetBlue with American Express
2008-08-30 00:45:00
If you're a regular JetBlue customer, you can save a significant amount on your flights by signing up the JetBlue American Express. 100 TruBlue points nets you a full round-trip flight and you'll receive 50 of those with your first purchase. Plus, JetBlue is offering $15 off any flight purchase when you use your AmEx Card through 12/17. The card has a $40 annual fee, but that could be potentially negligible if you receive enough free flights.

JetBlue's LiveTV unit to snatch up Verizon's Airfone networkby Darren Murph, posted Jun 9th 2008 at 8:12AM Nary a week after JetBlue expanded its in-flight internet services on BetaBlue comes news that the airline's LiveTV unit will be picking up Verizon's Airfone network. As you can glean, the purchase is being made in order to further "develop in-flight email and internet services," and while no purchase price was disclosed by either outfit, we are told that LiveTV will receive "100 air-to-ground US communications towers and Airfone's corporate and government aviation clients on January 1st." That's nice and all, but can't we get something out of this sooner?source : engadget.com

JetBlue Discount Airline Tickets Going in for the Kill Shot
2008-05-07 15:05:00
JetBlue Discount Airline Tickets Going in for the Kill ShotWith Delta in bankruptcy we see the more successful discount air carriers going in to the kill. JetBlue is expanding, buying planes and opening routes while fuel costs are at a record high and other airlines are in bankruptcy. Delta and Northwest are both jettisoning some of their aircraft from their fleets, closing some routes and giving away some gates at some of the busiest airports.Because JetBlue’s cost structure is lower and it operates in a hybrid model, rather than the standard spoke and hub routing structure it can fly for less. By having cheaper fairs it has consistently had fuller flights. Their hybrid point-to-point and larger Hub and Spoke model at its largest airport markets it is able to get the benefit of maximum efficiency. It’s newer aircraft are also more efficient, which is helping in its per passenger cost model. Some folks are worried about pre-paying for tickets on a bankrupt airline and skeptical e...

JetBlue, Yahoo!, RIM to Offer In-Flight WiFi
2007-12-10 01:32:00
According to Reuters and others, Yahoo! and Research in Motion, maker of the BlackBerry line of smartphones, have teamed up with U.S. based airline JetBlue to offer limited, but free, WiFi access to passengers with WiFi enabled laptops and BlackBerry smartphones. The service, which will be first offered on a New York to San Francisco flight on December 11th, will let customers access a special version of Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Messenger, and BlackBerry corporate email.Sadly, for now, passengers will not be able to use the WiFi connectivity for general web surfing or for downloading email attachments due to bandwidth limitations. While WiFi access on planes might be pretty new to the U.S., airlines like Lufthansa and Air Singapore offered full WiFi access on some of their flights from 2004 through the end of 2006, when Boeing pulled its Connexion WiFi service from the air.

JetBlue Airways Is Firest To Offer Inflight E-mail And Instant Messaging se
2007-12-07 03:42:00
JetBlue Airways Corp. will start offering limited e-mail and instant messaging services for free on one of its planes next week as airlines renew efforts to offer in-flight Internet access. General Web surfing and e-mail attachments won't be permitted because of bandwidth constraints, and services on laptops and handhelds with Wi-Fi wireless access will be limited to e-mail and messaging from Yahoo Inc. Passengers can check other personal and work e-mail ? but only on two BlackBerry models that have Wi-Fi wireless capabilities, under a deal with BlackBerry maker Research In Motion Ltd. AMR Corp.'s American Airlines is among the carriers planning to test broader, fee-based in-flight Internet services in coming months. The JetBlue system is scheduled to make its debut Tuesday on Flight 641 from New York to San Francisco. JetBlue to start testing in-flight e-mail, IM next week
2007-12-06 23:32:00
If there were snakes on this plane, you could IM your friends and tell them. Low-cost airline JetBlue has equipped one of its Airbus A320 planes with an onboard wireless network and has forged partnerships with Yahoo and BlackBerry manufacturer Research In Motion to give passengers access to the companies' e-mail and instant messaging functions while in the air. The airline considers the plane, nicknamed "BetaBlue," to be an early-stage test as the company explores expanding in-flight communication options. Passengers won't be able to surf the full Web. But if they bring Wi-Fi-equipped laptops along, they can access lightweight versions of Yahoo e-mail and instant messaging services; BlackBerry owners who have Wi-Fi-enabled handsets (the BlackBerry 8820 and BlackBerry Curve 8320) will be able to access their personal and corporate e-mail. BlackBerry models that have only cellular connections rather than Wi-Fi won't be compatible--the Federal Communications Commission still has ...

Fool4Travel logo I wrote up JetBlue in an August 11 entry this year but I just ran across this article at Fool4Travel about this blogger's recent experience with JetBlue and I thought I would share it. JetBlue has had its share of scheduling catastrophes but compared to other airlines, it's a gem. They have several flights per day between JFK and the Burlington VT (BTV) airport. All our guests who have flown JetBlue have had good experiences with it. Fool4Travel looks like a good blog by the way and you may want to add it to your favorites. I'll be spending some more time looking it over. (c) 2007 Jeff Connor [Except the illustration above this article which is (c) copyrighted by Fool4Travel Grunberg Haus

The Morning After JetBlue
2007-07-28 17:55:00
The morning after a 9-hour ordeal with JetBlue, in which you are not waking up in your intended destination, kind of feels like a hang-over. I should be at my parents' house in Asheville eating a fabulous lunch of spare ribs marinated Filipino-style, Pancit, fried rice and lumpia. But what are you gonna do? Sit around and cry about it?If you've ever had my mom's cooking - maybe; but not when you're in a city like New York. Before I go out and find something to do with my Saturday in the city, I wanted to take one last moment to vent about my first and last experience with JetBlue before I completely leave that day in the past.JetBlue play-by-play:1) Flying to Charlotte on JetBlue instead of to Asheville on Delta because flights to Asheville were elevated due to Belle Chere.2) Check in at JetBlue counter after 3 p.m.3) Wait in line for a salad with Mr. Cooper and eat near Gate 9.4) Flight delayed to 5:15 p.m. from original departure time of 4:45 p.m.5) No big deal; continue readi...
