Brad Keselowski and Jimmie Johnson both find success at Dover International
2009-06-07 01:45:00
As I sit here watching the start of the NASCAR Nationwide Series race from Nashville, I just wanted to put a period on last weekend at Dover International Speedway for what made to be an interesting weekend that yet yielded some unique results. Dover is a 1 mile concrete racetrack on the NASCAR schedule that is anything but a walk in the park for the drivers and teams that race on it, this high-banked track normally shows some good side-by-side racing race in and race out and this past weekend was no different.Wouldn’t you know it, controversy at the end of the Dover 200 for the Nationwide Series, anyone shocked? Already up ‘til the final restart, this race just wasn’t all that entertaining, Kyle Busch was leading, but in a few Nationwide Series races have gone this season, there was a crash and that prompted a restart. On the restart, Kyle Busch was leading with Joey Logano in second and Brad Keselowski in third, Busch went down into turn 1, however Busch had a right front tir...

With no preseason testing at Daytona, which is not needed away, it’s restrictor plate racing, however preseason testing at another race track like Las Vegas is needed, I guess that’s where a preseason money race would be perfect (Read More…), I am really ready to get the 2009 season under way, first the Budweiser Shootout this Saturday night will have a different look, it’s all about the manufacturers, this one will have fans attention, then the Duals at Daytona qualifying races and then the 51th running of the Daytona 500 a week from Sunday, so in light of this, how about predictions for the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Season.Well, first, who will win the 2009 Cup Series Championships? I have heard and read what most of the media has said and who they are picking to win the championship, the odds on favorite has to be Carl Edwards or Kyle Busch for most media members and while both are good picks, I mean Kyle Busch (from objective point of view) had 9 wins last season in ...

2008-12-04 20:56:00
As I sit here reading some of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship week news coming out of New York that all leads up to the banquet on Friday night live on ESPN Classic, yeah who thought that up anyway, first putting it in New York and second televising it on ESPN Classic, does everyone have ESPN Classic, I bet, NO.Anyway, over the past couple of weeks, I have been thinking over what in my opinion was a good 2008 Cup Series season despite a spit verdict with this new Car of Tomorrow at all racetracks, a unique and at times, safe and yet, a complete nightmare of a car, yeah that works right…. however in most ways, what a good season it was. I would sum up the 2008 season highlights with something for just about everyone. How about one unique car and a good race, the Daytona 500 to start with? In some ways the COT does play host to some good racing after all and one race this season that was good was the Daytona 500, what a great way to start off the season, a race that always ...
Jimmie Johnson, Carl Edwards and NASCAR make headlines at Kansas Speedway.
2008-10-01 07:49:00
Heading into Kansas Speedway, the track had already made noise by announcing that they are going to ask for a second cup date after they just got approved for a hotel and casino, would they get it?Looking at the race itself, a race that was once a boring thing to watch, not any more, in NASCAR, it is said that with all new tracks or new surfaces, it will get better with age, Richmond did, Bristol shore did and guess what, Kansas did as well, interesting third chase race, it was better than Texas earlier this year, however that’s not saying much, but amazingly enough, there was two, three-groves including running up to wall to work with which does make the race better for passing, passing the key to good race at any racetrack, if drivers can’t pass a car, you have a parade, or Formula 1 for the most part. However nothing would have prepared me for the final 5 laps of this one, a race that shaped up to have a classic duel between Carl Edwards and the leader Jimmie Johnson, I watche...
Tradin Paint – Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jimmie Johnson as Marcos Ambrose wins
2008-08-11 02:30:00
Once a year, the NASCAR Nationwide Series and the Cup Series comes together to complete in a doubleheader weekend on the road course at the famous Watkins Glen International. For me, I like watching both the Nationwide Series and the Cup Series races on this high speed Watkins Glen road course, sure the action on track isn’t as exciting as on an oval, but it’s not meant to be that was neither, it takes a different type of driving to win on these tracks and that’s exciting at times to watch. The big question going into The Glen was: Now that you’ve seen a NASCAR race in the rain, do you think there should ever be another one on a road course? And would we see another race in the rain this time at Watkins Glen?First, the answer would all depend upon which series you are talking about, for the Nationwide Series, after watching an exciting race in the rain (on rain tires) last weekend north of the border in Montreal where the road course ringer Ron Fellows in the JR Motorsports/H...

2008-02-07 00:42:00
This past Monday on the season premiere of NASCAR Now, I couldn’t believe it when they asked “Will Jimmie Johnson win his third straight Cup Series Championship?” why? Why would you ask that, when did it become Richmond in September… This would be one of the last things I’m thinking about going into the new NASCAR season. What about the fact that the Budweiser Shootout is this Saturday night or that the Gatorade Duel is next Thursday or even the fact that the 50th running of the Daytona 500 is a week from Sunday, yeah what about those. So in light of that question, what might fans be thinking about going into the new season:First, Dale Earnhardt Jr. driving for Hendrick Motorsports with a new number, sponsors and mostly new team., the only things that stayed the same was his crew chief Eury Jr., a couple members of his crew and he’s driving a Chevrolet. As a Dale Jr. fan, I am hoping for a good season and that that Hendrick equipment that has won the last two championships...

YouTube: Jimmie Johnson Wins 2nd Straight NEXTEL Cup
2007-11-19 22:57:00
Although Jimmie Johnson did not win at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Sunday he did secure his second straight NEXTEL Cup championship. He is the first driver to repeat as champion since Jeff Gordon did it in the 97′ and 98′ seasons. Matt Kenseth won the race with Jimmie coming in at 7th place. Gordon finished 4th in the race but it wasn’t good enough to pass Johnson and Jeff finished the season in 2nd and 77 points behind Jimmie. Both Gordon and Jimmie drive for Hendrick Motorsports and in fact Jeff Gordon hand picked Jimmie to be his teammate. The video contains footage of the last 9 laps at Homestead.

He has moved to the top of the points in the Chase for the Nextel Championship.Yesterday's race was full of wrecks and cautions. Most of the talk centered around Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon and their standings in the points race. The last fifteen laps or so made for a very exciting end to the race in Texas.Jimmie Johnson and Matt Kenseth battled it out in a fight to the finish. They both put forth an incredible effort but Johnson came out the victor. I am a true Jimmie Johnson fan so I am ecstatic! Are you a Nascar fan? Who do you love and who do you love to hate? YouTube: Jimmie Johnson Takes Atlanta
2007-10-31 21:42:00
Jimmie Johnson started Sunday’s race in Atlanta 53 points behind his Hendrick teammate Jeff Gordon for the NEXTEL Cup Championship. At the end of the day however, because of a late race pit gamble and a wild wreck at the finish, Jimmie won the race and now finds himself only 9 points out of the lead. Jimmie was running fifth when a caution came out on lap number 318 of the scheduled 325 laps. His crew chief, Jack Knaus, elected to only take two tires during the caution and Johnnson jumped to second behind Denny Hamlin. When racing resumed on lap 323 Hamlin ran out of gas and Martin Truex Jr. slammed into the back of him bringing out yet another caution. This setup a green-white-checkered finish that would start on lap 328. In the first corner after the restart Dale Jr. lost a tire and collected Jammie McMurray in the wreckage. This wreck caused the race to finish under caution giving Johnson his eighth win of the season. With only three aces left and nine points separating Ji...

(Credit for borrowed Photo: Shawn Payne/IMS) First up, last Friday night at the newly renamed O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis (I would have prefered IRP by O’Reilly), the NASCAR Craftsmen Trucks Series was in action for there 200 lap sprint race with Rick Crawford holding off Denis Setzer and the master Ron Hornaday Jr. to grab the victory. This truck race also showcased a new racing grove, the very bottom of the corners below the yellow line just about to the grass, for anyone who could get there truck to handle down there including the winner, made short order of the lap traffic. Last night (Saturday), the Busch Series was in action with another 200 lap sprint race, were history would repeat itself for two drivers, Denny Hamlin make the call that didn’t get him the track position at the end, Hamlin found himself in the back on one of the final restarts were in the closing laps, he used the outside grove next to the wall to make up over 10 positions passin...
