Joey Chestnut Wins Wing Bowl by Eating 214 Chicken Wings in 30 Minutes
2008-02-03 14:28:00 An American competitive eater, Joseph Christian "Jaws" Chestnut eats 214 chicken wings in 30 minutes to win this years Wing Bowl.When Chestnut devoured his record 241st and final chicken wing over a 30-minute span, the last thing the competitive eater cared about was the crowd. He wanted the crown — the one adorned with rubber chickens and blinking lights that showed he truly was the King of the Wing."I could wear this all day," said Chestnut, of San Jose, Calif. "A lot of hard work went into this."Chestnut, who inhaled 66 hot dogs to win the world's hot dog eating championship last July, ate no solid food since Monday. 2007-07-05 16:43:00 Chestnut, the American hope in the annual Fourth of July competition, broke his own world record by swallowing 66 hot dogs in 12 minutes - a staggering one every 10.9 seconds before a screaming crowd in Coney Island.Chestnut won against Kobayashi, the Japanese eating machine who recently had a wisdom tooth extracted and received chiropractic treatment due to a sore jaw.But once the contest ended, Kobayashi vomited, leading to a deduction from his final total. He finished with 63 hot dogs and buns eaten - still his best performance ever.Chestnut's victory ended Japan's long dominance of the contest. Joey Chestnut Devours 182 Wings
2007-02-04 02:50:01 What were you doing at 6 A.M. this morning? Well if you lived in Philadelphia, odds are you were at the 15th Annual Wing Bowl at the Wachovia Center. The event consisted of 15 Philadelphia natives against 5 professional eaters. Joey Chestnut, who routinely finishes second to Kobayashi at Coney Island, devored a record 182 wings to win the Wing Bowl. This is what Chestnut had to say: “I love to eat. Today I was swallowing wings, swallowing bones, whatever it took.” For his efforts, he won a 2007 Suzuki Grand Vitara. The top local finisher, Jerry Coughlin, finished fourth overall with 167 wings eaten. He also received the same prize as Chestnut for being the top local yocal. Rumors are that the other prizes awarded were a new toilet from Home Depot, a years supply of Charmin with Aloe, Imodium AD with Gas, Pepto-Bismal, and some hot sauce. Share This
