Of course, Johann Pachelbel wrote many great pieces, but the 3-part canon he had once written will come to mind every time we hear his name. Interestingly enough, although he penned a great deal of works, the Canon in D composed for 3 violins and continuo was the only canon he had ever written. 2007-09-19 19:00:00 The Lincoln Journal Star is reporting that Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns has decided to run for the open Senate seat in Nebraska being vacated by Chuck Hagel. Johanns will resign his cabinet post within the next few days and will formally announce his candidacy next week. Prior to becoming Secretary of Agriculture Johanns was Nebraska's governor. Johanns is the strongest candidate the Republicans could find for this seat, imo, and should be considered a heavy favorite over any Democratic candidates not named Bob Kerrey. He'd have an initial edge over Kerrey as well but a Johanns-Kerrey race would start out as competitive at least. There are already three other Republicans running for Hagel's seat. Attorney General Jon Bruning is the most prominent, and had announced his candidacy months before Hagel announced his retirement.
