POP: John Carpenter?s The Thing With GI JOE Figures
2008-08-20 14:00:00
Wow! Talk about an attention to detail. I don't even want to fathom how much time they had to put into this recreation of John Carpenter's The Thing. I'm really impressed with the snow effects and general set pieces. This easily the best film recreation I have ever seen with action figures and these days that is saying quite a lot. Great work from Simon Gesrel and Xavier Ehretsmann.
Falcon Northwest FragBox 8500

The Falcon Northwest FragBox 8500 ($1,895 direct) is a gaming system without apologies. Outwardly, the latest model in the FragBox line resembles its predecessors (a good thing in our eyes), but it brings the price down into the “more affordable” gaming range. In fact, the FragBox 8500 is almost reasonably priced, yet after extensive testing ...
The Top Ten Sci-Fi Films That Never Existed

10. The "Real" Alien 31992, Directed by, oh, let's say Ridley Scott The most excited I've ever been to see a movie ever in my life was the moment I saw the first Alien 3 "teaser" trailer in 1991 (teasers are shot well before the movie itself is finished filming). It's the one that promised the aliens were coming to freaking Earth. No, I didn't dream it. They really did show that trailer (they even have a copy of it HERE), sending it to theaters before they had even started production, before they had even picked a script. Visions of awesomeness flashed through my head, a Blade Runner-ish Earth with sprawling, filthy buildings, huge flashing billboards with giant Asian women on them, beat-up flying cars whooshing by and steam always rising from the streets for some reason. And then the aliens start breeding in the miles of dank sewers that tangle under the bustling streets, the creatures boiling up out of manholes by the hundreds, cut to pieces by Marines with pulse rifles a...

En la boca del miedo (In the Mouth of Madness)
2008-01-26 12:53:00
John Carpenter Returning to Theaters with L.A. Gothic - SendMeRSS
2008-01-18 08:14:00
John Carpenter Returning to Theaters with L.A. GothicWhenever I meet someone who will go to the mat for John Carpenter, that to me is a qualifier for friendship. In my mind, Carpenter is like Stanley Kubrick with holes in his jeans, or a joint to a $15 cigar, or Pabst Blue Ribbon to Heineken if I can be Frank. From 1976’s Assault on Precinct 13 to 1988’s They Live, he had a ferocious run, tearing up social norms with irreverent style and quasi-populist humor while constantly entertaining audiences with a mad swirl of genres. It’s unfortunate that those audiences would show up later than sooner, and the critics? Well, I’m grateful the Internet arrived because most critics would rather praise a mediocre movie playing in five theaters than publish a retrospective praising Carpenter. His movies poked fun at the establishment and his modus operandi wore self-reliance on its sleeve. Those synthy scores drove his independence home like roman candles made with gun p...

Horror Legend John Carpenter returns with L.A. Gothic - SendMeRSS

Horror Legend John Carpenter returns with L.A. Gothic Written by Lucas C HaberstichAfter taking seven years off from directing feature films, there is no doubt in my mind that Carpenter's return is partially in response to the sub-par remake of Halloween, a need to show these young kids how to make convincing horror.  shocktillyoudrop has made it known that the casting of L.A. Gothic is currently underway with hopes of shooting in March. Written by busy bees Jim Agnew and Sean Keller (their Damned is currently in production and Giallo just scored horror legend Argento to direct), L.A. Gothic tells "five interwoven stories of high-octane horror centering on a vengeful ex-priest's efforts to protect his teenage daughter from the supernatural evils of L.A.s dark side". I would love to see Kurt Russell reteam with John Carpenter for this movie.  Russell as a vengeful ex-priest?  Hell yes.  He can wear his old vestments while wearing dark shades...
