John Lynch Agrees To Deal, Will Return In 2008
2008-03-01 04:17:00
John Lynch, who despite being 37 years old has been the most consistent performer on the Denver defense the past 3 seasons, has agreed to terms with the Broncos on a restructured deal that will see the mega-Pro Bowler return to the Orange and Blue in 2008.   Lynch, who had 1 more year on his existing contract for $3 million was on the verge of being released by the Broncos after the two sides struggled to come to terms on a new deal.   After considering retirement for much of the reloading season, it had become clear in recent days that Lynch still had the desire to play, especially after being named to the AFC's Pro Bowl team again this year. Despite his age, Lynch still performs at a high level and will stabilize a key position of need next season.

John Lynch: The Decision, Part Four
2008-01-26 01:46:00
John Lynch: The Decision, Part Four This is a four part article that will be taking a look at one of the best safeties to ever play the game, John Lynch. A decision about his retirement looms, and its ripple effect will be felt throughout the Broncos organization as everything from the Free Agency period to their potentially strong, 8-pick draft will be shaped and altered by whichever lot he tosses into the murky pool that is the Broncos' defensive future. Will it be the decision to retire, leaving $2 mil on the table? Will it be the decision to return, possibly having to accept less playing time and risking injury? MHR's own Hoosierteacher took some time to look at the John Lynch situation with me, and provided some of his excellent knowledge and analysis of not only Lynch but of the difficult and oft misunderstood nature of the position he plays. We will be getting his take on the situation throughout this series. Part One was a look at John Lynch the player and th...

Prelude To A Comback? John Lynch Named To Pro Bowl
2008-01-23 02:20:00
Denver Broncos safety John Lynch has been named to the AFC Pro Bowl roster, the National Football League informed the Broncos on Tuesday. His nine career Pro Bowl selections as a safety mark the second-highest total in NFL history, trailing only the 10 Pro Bowl nominations earned by Ken Houston from 1970-79 with the Oilers and Redskins. Lynch joins cornerback Champ Bailey as the Broncos' representatives at the Pro Bowl, which will be played on Sunday, Feb. 10, at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu at 2:30 p.m. MST and televised by FOX. A 15-year player who has spent the last four seasons in Denver, Lynch appeared in 13 games (12 starts) in 2007 and ranked second among the Broncos' defensive backs with 62 tackles (48 solo). He also p...
