It might be able to do this: By the way, I'm going to recommend that the Pirates go ahead and sign the robot to a minor-league contract.
Yankees OF Johnny Damon honored for his work with wounded soldiers (AP)

Johnny Damon was trembling as he stepped to the podium. He tried to steady himself, take a deep breath, find some way to choke back the tears. It was no use. The Yankees outfielder was overwhelmed by his introduction Sunday night at the 85th annual New York baseball writers’ dinner, where he was honored for ...
George King Caught in the Act Again
2007-08-13 22:03:00
Less than a week after catching an erroneous factoid printed by George King of the NY Post, lightning strikes again! Since ending a 0-for-20 slump on July 20, Damon is batting .370 (27-for-73) and has raised his average from .234 to .271.Damon is hitting .258. Count it! One of these days, I intend to proofread an entire George King column and determine exactly how many mistakes it contains. I will report back to you with the shocking findings, so stay tuned.
Get Rid Of Them All: A Frustrated Fan Rants

Scott Proctor is either very good, or very bad. He's one of those pitchers who Joe Torre can rely upon. That means he gets to trot to the mound every day and throw the ball until his arm breaks off. That does not mean that he gets off the hook for walking in the game winning run against the Baltimore Orioles Tuesday night. Without recounting the gory details, it was one of those scenarios where this writer, while watching the game with the sound on mute to help keep my blood pressure lower (it's difficult to listen to someone give a play by play of crappy baseball), knew that the Yankees would lose. It was especially infuriating to lose with Proctor walking in the winning run. When the Yankees return to Yankee Stadium Friday to face the Oakland A's, stadium personnel should dispense with the organ music, and all of the other song clips and sound effects and merely play circus music for the entire game. That would not only make me feel good, it would be appropriate for the way th...
Time To Trade Johnny Damon?
2007-06-03 08:08:00
Bob Klapisch raises a possibility I haven't seen yet: should the Yankees start shopping center fielder Johnny Damon? Damon is earning $13MM annually through 2009, and has a partial no-trade clause.  His age 33 season has been a disappointment so far; he's hitting .259/.363/.364.  His flyball rate is down from 40% to 32%; that might have something to do with it.  Damon was supposed to enter the 2007 season in good health, with a broken foot bone healed and his shoulder 100%.  However, he began the regular season with cramps in his calves.  That developed into a strain, and then hamstring and back problems surfaced in late April.  Jason Giambi's injury will give the Yankees a chance to DH Damon, but it really seems like he needs to rest for two weeks on the DL. Trading Damon would not be easy right now, and would qualify as selling low.  The Yankees would probably have to eat some of his salary.  I really can't think of a club that would ma...

A cut (or lack there of) above the rest (Part 1)Expressing yourself with your hair style is not a new concept. For years, people have decided that the best way to make their statements, however right or wrong, was their hairstyle. Recently however, I've slowly begun to realize a growing trend (no pun intended...wait, no scratch that, pun fully intended) in sports of athletes letting their hair style go with reckless abandonment. Lets take a look at some of the bigger offenders:Ben Wallace In what can only be cited as a tribute to the afro's of yesteryear, Ben's got the look working for him. Now, at times, he'll switch it up to this lovely do:Not as intimidating, but these cornrows would make Snoop Dogg proud (on a side note, how many videos must Snoop D-O-double G make that show a random woman braiding his hair as he raps? You like cornrows Snoop, we get it) With that being said, if you're gonna steal a hair style from Snoop, better the cornrows than this train wreck!Anyway, I ...
