Jon Lord Talks Deep Purple Reunion
2007-12-19 05:03:00
Led Zeppelin did it. Why not their 1970's rival Deep Purple?Keyboard player with the original line-up, Jon Lord, says that he'd be very interested in getting the group back together for a reunion.Lord told London's Daily Express, "I'd be there like a shot! Not in any way to denigrate what Steve Morse has done with the band but only because it was an iconic group of people. We had an impact on the music industry.""Perhaps we never quite pulled in the massive adulation that Zeppelin did but we could certainly stand in comparison with them as a great rock band."The group has gone through a myriad of line-up changes over the years, but it all started back in 1968 with Ritchie Blackmore, Rod Evans, Nick Simper, Jon Lord and drummer Ian Price. That group lasted for a little over a year and three albums before Simper and Evans were let go and replaced by Ian Gillan and Roger Glover. The real blockade to a reunion is the long-term feud between Blackmore and Gillan. Per Lord, "Whether...

Music not banned!
2007-08-17 14:51:00
Even though the 'Gedolim' (or at least the people who write the signs and posters on behalf of the Gedolim have banned people from attending the Avraham Fried and Yaakov Shwekey concert in Yerushalayim, I notice with some surprise and a lot of relief that they have not commented at all on the forthcoming Jethro Tull concert! Tull are playing on the 23rd in Jersalem and the next day (I think) somewhere else. You can check the details for yourself.I assume that the 'Gedolim' understand that Aqualung and Thick as a Brick are full of Torah messages and bring a person closer to G-d (presumably the same is not true of the Jewish music that has been banned). I agree with the Gedolim 100% on this issue. There is a lot that can and should be learned from the lyrics, the musical content, and the album covers (although perhaps on in the case of the cover of Thick as a Brick, which is more like a newspaper than an album cover).I think the Rolling Stones may be also coming this summer, and I...
