Jose Canseco Apologetic, Vulnerable in A&E Documentary
2008-10-22 17:38:00
Jose Canseco: The Last Shot, a documentary about Canseco, aired on A&E October 21 2008. ">According to the New York Daily News, the made-for-TV documentary showed Canseco's apologetic and vulnerable side. Canseco now wishes he had never written the book in the first place. If given the opportunity, Canseco said he would apologize to Mark McGwire and the other players he implicated in Juiced."I
Ex-Baseball Star Jose Canseco Loses Home to Foreclosure
2008-05-16 19:18:00
The latest victim in the foreclosure crisis proves that it isn?t just lower income families or subprime mortgage borrowers losing their homes to foreclosure. Jose Canseco, the former baseball superstar turned scandal-maker for his exposure of sterois use in major league baseball, announced Thursday that he had given up his 7,500 square foot Los Angeles mansion to bank debt seekers due to foreclosure.
Jose Canseco Not Expected To Do Well At WSOP
2008-05-13 10:20:00
It looks like Jose Canseco is turning to the poker tables in hopes of turning around his recent financial troubles. Knowing Jose, and knowing the way Jose plays poker, I’m willing to bet that Canseco has a better chance of pounding out 10 more books than making any money playing cards. The oddsmakers agree. The folks ...
Baseball Star Jose Canseco Loses Home to Foreclosure
2008-05-12 14:06:00
Foreclosure has claimed one more victim. This time it is US baseball star Jose Canseco, who lost his mansion in California on Thursday. He is also one of the first few celebrities who have admitted to being part of the foreclosure crisis publicly. He has had two divorces and has also been booked a few times by the police for violence. One of the most prolific baseball stars in the country, Jose Canseco, 43, retired in 2001 from the major leagues after a successful career in the game. His house was located in Encino, a Los Angeles suburb and was over 7,300 square feet in size. It seems that he still owed the lending bank more than $2.5 million on the mortgage of the house after the TV show procured documents showing the same. When talking to ‘Inside Edition’, Jose Canseco said “I’ve been out of the game for about eight or nine years and obviously this issue with the foreclosure on my home. I do have a judgment on my home and it to me is very strange because it didn&rs...
Jose Canseco?s Plan Could Backfire In His Face
2008-05-06 10:38:00
Jose Canseco has grown accustom to watching his best laid plans go up in smoke. He took steroids to become a superhuman baseball player, but ended up a big joke. He wrote “Juiced” with hopes of hurting Major League Baseball, but has seen the sport thrive despite all of the steroid talk. This time around, ...
Jose Canseco: Why the Rich Are Walking Away From Their Mortgages
2008-05-04 16:44:00
Jose Canseco is not your typical foreclosure scenario by a long shot.  However, he does represent what others like him are doing in increasing numbers these days, no matter how much money they make, even the wealthy. Jose Conseco was born in Cuba and raised in Miami, Florida.  During his famous baseball career, he was ...
Jose Canseco Victim of Personal Stupidity, High Taxes, Not Economy
2008-05-03 05:20:00
MALKIN BLOWS THIS ONE!"..."Let's say it's $35 million ... you're paying the government 41 percent. That leaves you with about $17 or $18 million...."Jose Canseco blames much of his financial failure on the high costs of taxes and coughing up something like 41% of his income to the government!  Our anti-McCain, anti-Bush conservatives have blown it this time.  Jose Canseco should be the picture boy for lowering taxes, not the economy. Instead Malkin is treating us to one of her dumbest commentaries ever.  She is using Jose Canseco’s defaulting on his mortgage as proof the economy is so ...

Jose Canseco Loses California Home In Foreclosure
2008-05-02 12:57:00
I rarely wish bad tidings on people but the career of Jose Canseco has been laced with self absorption, cheating, lying, and other serious character defects. Could this result surprise you at all? Canseco makes an obligation to pay a mortgage but then decides that it does not make sense to keep paying on it. ...
Bad Boy Canseco is At it Again
2008-04-05 20:09:00
Not quite satisfied with exposing Mark McGwire and alluding that McGwire and Sammy Sosa's famous homerun duel was a completely steroid fueled endeavor in his first tell all book "Juiced: Wild Times, Rampant 'Roids, Smash Hits, and How Baseball Got Big", Jose Canseco is back yet again to spill a few more beans. In his no holds barred, unapologetic, tell all new book "Vindicated: Big Names, Big Liars, and The Battle to Save Baseball", Jose now shines the light of guilt on ex Yankee player, Alex Rodriguez, who is also rumored to be having an affair with Canseco's latest wife. He also pulls player Magglio Ordonez into the mix.Any that read the first book remember that Canseco claims that he introduced Mark McGwire to steroids in 1988 and that he often injected McGwire while they were teammates.Truths here or bad blood? Many speculate that Canseco is just craving more limelight and attention now that his career is over, and that he also has axes to grind with some of his ex competitor...
The Idiot File: Jose Canseco and His New Book "Vindicated..."
2008-03-26 23:33:00
As we all know, Jose Canseco's foray into the literary world with the book, "Juiced", was a mitigated success and perhaps changed the culture of baseball forever with subsequent Congressional Hearings, a so-called drug policy (needs to be a tad bit stronger), and the outing of several players, all of whom, except for Cal Ripken (who was never mentioned to have used drugs, Jose just hated him) have has their reputations tarred and feathered. However, he's coming out with a second book, "Vindicated", and you've got to wonder why he's coming out with a second book. One, we already know baseball had a drug problem. Two, I guess he needs the money and his name in lights.Yes, he was credible and did help the game face a reality that it dug it's head in the sand on; however, there's no need for a second book.As mentioned yesterday, He's got his guns on A-Rod; however, he's not biting.Alex Rodriguez refused to address allegations by Jose Canseco, who claims he introduced the three-time...

Jose Canseco Called “Juicer†at the 2008 Arnold Expo
2008-03-12 00:55:00
Former baseball player and anabolic steroid advocate Jose Canseco was hired as a spokesman for a supplement company appearing at the company’s booth at the 2008 Arnold Classic.Testosterone Nation reports that Canseco is working with MVP Nutrition since he spent so much time talking to world fitness champion Michele Levesque. So, you admit to using steroids. Then a supplement company hires you to say you built your muscles using their pills and powders? Um, okay. Canseco seemed to spend most of his time macking on the hired booth booty anyway. But Jose Canseco actually works for German American Technologies, makers of Jet Fuel. Oops. Perhaps, GAT should consider hiring some attractive booth help to keep Jose from straying and inadvertently promoting the competition? However, the most humorous anecdotes involving Canseco at the Arnold Classic involve the comments he received from Expo attendees ("iWitness: Arnold Sports Festival,†March 6):[B]oth at the EXPO and the after-party, peop...

JOSE CANSECO?S NEW JOB
2008-01-25 10:50:00
Jose Canseco was a freak of nature back in the day. We know why now, but watching Canseco set baseball on fire was amazing. In 1988 Jose Canseco became the first player to hit 40 home runs and steal 40 bases in a season. He was a lock for the Hall of Fame.. Until Superman ...
Is Jose Canseco Taking Some Advice From Tony Soprano?
2008-01-25 03:03:00
Wow, just when I was quasi-praising Jose Canseco for his expose of drugs in baseball while also fulfilling his own self-absorbed prophecies, he's at it again. This time, well, he's become self-serving again for the good of his bank account.Well, the author of "Juiced", according to the New York Times, offered to keep Detroit Tigers outfielder Magglio Ordóñez ?clear? in his next book in exchange for a financial investment, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.Damn, get James Gandolfini on the phone stat! From the New York Times:Four people in baseball confirmed that referrals were made from Major League Baseball to the F.B.I. regarding Canseco?s actions relating to the six-time All-Star outfielder Magglio Ordóñez, who was not mentioned in Canseco?s earlier book or in any other report on performance-enhancing drugs in baseball. All four insisted on anonymity because they said they didn?t have authority to speak about the events. The F.B.I. did not open a formal invest...
Jose Canseco Claims That He Will Blow Open The Drug Issue In Baseball, Will
2007-12-31 09:52:00
He's back...The man perhaps responsible for exposing the drug issue in baseball and changing the game forever is about to make another foray into the publishing world.Jose Canseco is following up "Juiced", with a new book, "Vindicated", which will allegedly put more names out in the open of players that might have used PED's.Oh joy. However, he has been right so far in his crusade (self-serving or not), and no one has come up to the plate to take legal action against him. From AOL: The new book, with the working title "Vindicated", will arrive in bookstores on Opening Day 2008, Canseco's lawyer Robert Saunooke told the New York Post and the Daily News.Saunooke said the book would accuse ballplayers not named in former Sen. George Mitchell's report of using performance-enhancing drugs."We had hoped that the Mitchell Report would have been more revealing," Saunooke said. "It basically ended up being nothing more than (Mitchell saying), 'I talked to a lot of people, some wouldn't t...

2007-12-23 22:00:00
I just found this on Youtube, and it's of video from 1988 denying that he ever used steroids as alleged by a 1988 column by the Washington Post's Tom Boswell. The announcers are fawning over Canseco, but what if they knew then what they know now...
Jose Canseco Says Names Are Missing; Implicates A-Rod?
2007-12-15 18:23:00
Ugh, looks who's back again. The sad thing is though despite he wanting to sell books and get his mug on TV and in print -- he's been right.Jose, the admitted steroid user, and D-list celebrity has popped up again. To be honest, if it weren't for him, baseball would have probably been much, much, slower to adopt drug testing.Look at what's he said now:The former Oakland Athletics slugger tried to get into the Mitchell report news conference Thursday but was barred by Major League Baseball officials, who said it was a "media only" event."[The report is] a slap on the hand," he told Fox Business Network. "The report proved nothing. It just proved what we already knew."Canseco's name appears 105 times in the Mitchell report, more than that of Barry Bonds (103) or Roger Clemens (82). In all, the 409-page report identified 86 names to differing degrees, but Clemens clearly was the symbol."I saw the list of players, and there are definitely a lot of players missing," he told Fox Busi...
Jose Canseco Was Fast As Hell
2007-09-05 21:30:00
Since we've become a sort of 100% Injury Rate video funnel the last couple of days, we figured what the Hell, let's keep it rolling! Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, or so people who like to copy people say.As you may know, we love anything related to Jose Canseco. He is just such a complete dumbass. So anytime he opens his trap and it's on video, we are compelled to post it.In this clip with Jim Rome, Jose claims that he used to run the 40 in 4.2 seconds. Yeah, that's right ... Darrell Green fast. In his next interview we hear that Hose claims to have hit more home runs than Barry Bonds.- - - - - - - - - - -Jose Canseco Likes To Golf? The Aaron Rowand Of Baseball FansRedneck Tasers Himself In The SackSTUB HUB: The Safe Way to Buy & Sell Tickets Online
RE: Barry Bonds Breaks the All Time Home Run Record [David Stefanini]
2007-08-08 16:23:00
First, congratulations to the greatest home run hitter of all time, Barry Bonds. Now to react in my thoughts to what Mark English put up:Did Barry Bonds take steroids, more than likely, yes. However, I am willing to bet 75% of players took performance enhancing drugs. That 75% includes pitchers.Considering that people in this era took steroids like it was water, and considering that a lot of the pitchers who Bonds went up against were on steroids, this record should not be tainted. Think about it like this; how about the pitchers Barry has gone up against in his career. Due to these drugs, there 90+mph fastballs would probably be more like 85. So if Barry didn't take steroids, would he have been able to hit the 85 mph fastball out of the ballpark? I'll let you come up with your own answers.I am just tired of people saying if he didn't do steroids, or what if the pitchers didn't do steroids. Lets just forget it and move on. Barry, like it or no, is the greatest home run hitter of...
Baseball Oddities [J. Mark English]
2007-08-04 01:01:00
Baseball is a unique sport. Unlike most other sports, every baseball game offers see something you've never seen before. Take for example the Cincinnati Reds second baseman, Brandon Phillips, who stole two bases yesterday on the same play. This from Michael Phillips of MLB.com:During the fourth inning of a 7-2 loss to the Nationals, Phillips was on first base when left-handed hitter Adam Dunn came to the plate. Nationals first baseman Dmitri Young held Phillips on the base while the rest of the defense shifted over one position, leaving third baseman Ryan Zimmerman in the position normally occupied by the shortstop. Phillips noticed this formation often, and had been plotting to steal two bases at just the right opportunity. So yea, thats pretty strange. In basketball you can shoot a hoop in a multitude of ways. No doubt, you'll see some impressive shots, but on the score card, even if you made a half court shot, it still goes down as a three point field goal. Baseball is pr...
Quotable Schilling on Bonds; McGwire [J. Mark English]
2007-07-26 06:09:00
Curt Schilling from my point of view is the Jack Bauer of baseball. Beyond the resemblance between him and Kiefer Sutherland, he is one hell of gutsy guy just like Jack. Who will ever forget his "heroic" (which must go in quotations since as Terry Francona the Red Sox manager says, the real heroes are over in Iraq) performance against the Yankees in game 6 of the ALCS when he shut down the Bombers despite a bloody ankle. Guts and glory spilled some of his heat in the way of words today on ESPN's Jim Rome show. Catch some of the venom that he unleashed on Bonds and McGwire:Curt Schilling says that Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire's refusals to address accusations of steroids use are tantamount to admissions. "If someone wrote that stuff about me and I didn't sue their [butt] off, am I not admitting that there's some legitimacy to it?" he said on HBO's "Costas Now."When asked about Schilling's remarks before the Giants played the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night, Bonds respo...
Jose Canseco and Roger Clemens – Quotes about Clemens in Juiced
2007-07-03 21:37:00
With Roger Clemens returning to baseball at age 44, and having fired trainer, Brian McNamee (who presumably put Jason Grimsley in touch with Kirk Radomski) rumors of past steroid or other performance-enhancing drug use continue to swirl. There is great debate about Clemens' place in Baseball's Steroid Era in the media and in forums all over the world. Many people are unclear as to what Canseco
Nobody Likes A Cheater [Michael Vinciguerra]
2007-05-31 17:11:00
The title of this article has been used by those who have played any type of competitive game, but who would have imagined this phrase would someday be applied to a major league sport, specifically baseball. The use of steroids by major league baseball players is the cause of this cheating. Steroids in baseball has always been an issue, but has not taken center stage until the release of Jose Canseco?s, 'Juiced', in which he specifically points out baseball superstars, such as Mark McGwire, Ivan Rodriguez, Juan Gonzalez, and Rafael Palmeiro, who potentially may have used steroids. Canseco himself also admitted to using steroids during his career and pointed towards the company BALCO as the source of the production of these steroids. The steroid controversy has reached the Senate where the ongoing argument is how the league should regulate the use of performance enhancement drugs as a result of baseball commissioner Bud Selig failing to do so properly. My question, however, is what...
It's a whole different ball game now --
2007-05-02 22:01:00
Watching the ball game on TV today, I started to think a lot about what has changed my view on professional sports in the last 10 years. Back then, I idealized sports, baseball specifically, as the end all be all of my life. I eat, slept, and breathed every single pitch. This love of the game culminated in my eventual employment with a pro organization, even being a part of a championship with the team. Yet today, as I sit and watch the game, I can't help but feel...not jaded, because that's not it...but different. I don't see the game, and moreover the players, with such rose colored glasses anymore. I think I can trace my difference of opinion on my several encounters with pro athletes.I remember as a child, I looked up to Jose Canseco more than anybody. In my eyes, Canseco was what I wanted to grow up to be. Big, strong, adored by fans, and an unbelievable ball player. He even grew up in my neighborhood and went to the high school I was scheduled to attend. He was my idol. I b...

Hall of Fame Debate - Steroids and Mark McGwire
2006-11-27 19:21:00
The Hall of Fame Ballot was released Nov. 27. For the first time some serious suspected and admitted steroid users are eligible. Players inextricably linked to steroids including Mark McGwire, Jose Canseco, and Ken Caminiti are listed alongside surefire first-ballot candidates Tony Gwynn and Cal Ripken Jr.Caminiti and Canseco wouldn?t get many votes (if any) even if they weren?t tied to performance-enhancing drugs, so the real controversy/debate lies with McGwire. McGwire finished his career with 583 home runs, seventh in baseball history, and of course, set the single season home run record in 1998 with 70 before Barry Bonds hit 73 in 2001. These types of statistical achievements would ordinarily make McGwire a shoe-in for the Hall. The controversy gained steam in July during the induction ceremonies for Bruce Sutter and 17 former players and executives from the Negro leagues. In a Washington Post article, former players discussed their opinions on the imminent inclusion of McGwire ...
