I think Josh Ritter is aware of this problem and has figured out how to combat it.The best way to beat it is to not be a neo-folk artist. Shocking, isn't it?Josh makes it known throughout The Historical Conquests of that he knows more music than his bachelors in American History through American Folk from Oberlin College. He lets loose the Spoon inspired "Rumors". Although the opener "To the Dogs or Whoever" will surely draw comparisons to "Subterranean Homesick Blues" but sounds more like the Walkmen's version than Dylan's.Perhaps the single instance that separates it from neo-folk is how fun it is.
