For all of you fans who are angry about NBC shutting down JourneyMan, fear NOT! Now that the strike is over, apparently NBC has contacted the cast of JourneyMan and are asking them to film some more episodes for this season so that they could have a proper series finale.And yes I did say 'Series finale'. Even though NBC is giving JourneyMan some more episodes, the fate of it coming back next season is very very small...But at least its better than nothing right?Check back at the blog for more info coming later on. 2008-01-17 23:32:00 I just learned from Slippy Lane that NBC is planning to cancel Journeyman, which I find astounding. Evidently what we need more than an intelligently written and well acted show with compelling characters and original plot lines is American Gladiators and The Singing Bee. Give me a freaking break.If you haven't watched Journeyman, you should. It's not a flashy show with a lot of big names or explosions, but it's one of those shows where, ten minutes into the first episode, you think to yourself, "Wow, somebody's really put some thought into this." It's like a grittier, better written, less cheesy version of Quantum Leap, with Moon Bloodgood instead of Dean Stockwell. I think we can all agree that's a pretty big step up.Frankly, Journeyman is about the only new that I can even watch. The new Bionic Woman? Please. It's like Alias without Jennifer Garner. Last year, NBC gave us KIDNAPPED. This season’s victim was JOURNEYMAN. And with JOURNEYMAN’s journey coming to an abrupt halt last night, this TV Addict wanted to take a moment to recognize creator Kevin Falls and his entire team both in front of and behind the camera. From the moment the series premiered, JOURNEYMAN had all the classic symptoms of a soon to be brilliant-but-cancelled series. Frankly, a seasoned TV Addict such as myself should have seen it coming. 2007-12-20 05:20:00 It feels really good, exhilarating to be reviewing a great new episode of Journeyman just two days after the last one - two days after the Episode 12 masterpiece - but it also feels a little bitter sweet, and it makes me sad. Because tonight's wonderful Episode 13 may be Journeyman's last.The show tonight pulled out a lot of the best time travel stops. Running into yourself in the past is the arch danger that every time traveler must avoid, lest he or she cause his or her mind to unravel - into infinite regress. Okay, it might be a premise which has been hashed out in thousands of different forms overs the years, but this show has been pretty decent so far.If you want to rationalize every plot line, forget it. There will be inconsistencies given that the subject matter is, well, time travel. But the cast is spot on, easy on the eye and likable. The pace is perfect, and the missing pieces are gradually coming together nicely. It is what good entertainment should be.Rumor has it that the show may be canceled. Ratings have been lower than expected. I got even more depressed imagining what kind of 'reality show' NBC would churn out in its place . Contrary to the rumors, NBC will indeed air the 12th [and possibly] final episode of the show on Wednesday December 19th at 10PM. Explained JOURNEYMAN Mastermind Kevin Falls in an email to AICN, “There’s still no news on our long term future, but we can promise you this: three terrific episodes inside of ten days. Oh, yeah, and you’ll get some answers, too” Falls added, “But don’t rest. We need you. We want a back nine–and beyond.” So JOURNEYMAN fans, the proverbial ball it seems is in your court. What’s next? Did HEROES continue it’s string of good episodes? Is CHUCK worth perpetually saving on my PVR to catch up with come December repeats? Was the second part JOURNEYMAN’s two-parter as good as last week? 2007-11-27 05:09:00 And we have a winner for the contest - I got the correct answer for Dan's last word in tonight's superb episode about 30 seconds after it was over. Look for the name of the winner, and some consolation prizes, at the end of this review...Tonight's Episode 10 of Journeyman was a wonderful, satisfying chapter, in many ways.First, it daringly courted but avoided paradoxes. Dan's traveling back to stop the guy who shot him risked unraveling Dan's and everyone's reality: had Dan gotten to the boy, gotten him out of his abusive home, then the boy might well have grown up not to do the bad things he did last week, and not to shoot Dan tonight.... Which would have left Dan - and us - where? A lot worse off in the narrative than Dan being wounded and seriously infected.Speaking of which - I liked that Dan got infected because he carried bacteria back with him two decades, which were resistant to antibiotics back then.
