2007-06-10 16:04:00 WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto (30-0, 25 KOs) scored an eleventh round TKO over Zab Judah (34-5, 25 KOs) in a wild back and forth classic on Saturday before a crowd of 20,658 at a sold out Madison Square Garden in New York City. In round one Judah hurt Cotto with an uppercut, Cotto put Judah on the deck with a low blow. Cotto was effective for most of round two, but was rocked again by Judah at the end of the round. Cotto continued the pressure in the third and another low blow put Judah down again. A point was deducted from Cotto. Cotto was bleeding from the mouth as Judah found a home for the left hand. Judah was cut over the right eye in the fourth as he was hammered by Cotto. Cotto was cut over the right eye in the sixth but wobbled Judah midway through the round. 2007-04-14 15:27:00 By Brad Cooney at ringsideA fight between former welterweight champion Zab Judah (34-4, 25 KOs) and Ruben Galvan (27-11-2, 10 KOs) ended in a no contest on Friday night at Fitzgeralds Casino Hotel in Tunica, Mississippi. Judah brutally went right after Galvan and almost immediately sliced open a cut on Galvan's forehead at the left hairline prompting the ring doctor to stop the fight about a minute in. It seemed to be a punch that opened the cut, but officials ruled it was a wayward elbow. The overmatched Galvan never landed a punch. The result should not affect the planned June 9 showdown between Judah and WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto. It was Judah's first fight since a one-year suspension for his part in the melee in his last fight against Floyd Mayweather. During the sparing session, an American Rottweiler rescue named “Tiny”, used by fight Prize Fight’s Brain and Russ Young to gain support for “Tri County Animal Rescue” got Zab Judah's attention when it began to bark, possibly at the sparing action. Judah momentarily stopped the sparing session and playfully said, "That’s not going to work." The sparing quickly resumed.
