Indian Kids Turn The iPhone Into A Joystick – Impress The Judges At T
2009-09-23 06:14:00
Being pretty young myself Ive been a firm believer that technology innovation is going to be driven by the youth in India. I have this statement that I make to VC’s often. I say the Mark Zuckerberg of India is 14 years old right now. What I mean is that he is right now playing with Xbox and fooling around with the iPhone and by the time he is 18 or 19 years old he would be kicking ass when it comes to building products on these platforms. Dont believe me? Check the video below: The video above shows a two people startup which applied to Techcrunch 50 and also won the best presentation award. Himanshu Baweja who earlier worked with minekey as a software engineer is a Delhi based boy. His company details can be found on their website. As the video above shows iMO has used software both on the iPhone and on the PC side to convert the iPhone into a joystick for PC games. This is just the start as the opportunity for this kind of application of touch devices is endless and they c...

Judges on journalism & lawyers on blogging...
2009-07-24 00:41:00
While it's nice to know that Chicago's very own federal judge Richard Posner is a fan of newspapers, it's interesting to hear what he thinks will help save them. Here's what he blogged today on the future of newspapers: "Expanding copyright law to bar online access to copyrighted materials without the copyright holder's consent, or to bar linking to or paraphrasing copyrighted materials without the copyright holder's consent, might be necessary to keep free riding on content financed by online newspapers from so impairing the incentive to create costly news-gathering operations that news services like Reuters and the Associated Press would become the only professional, nongovernmental sources of news and opinion."...

Blogger Arrested On Threats to Chicago Judges
2009-06-25 00:21:00
Arrested bloggers are really far more Joe the Cop's realm than mine-- and I'm sure he'll weigh in on this issue at some point, as I'm sure Bar Tender will as well-- but the blogosphere is the blogosphere, and when something is going on with a blogger, the rest of us, regardless of our blog's particilar slant, tend to notice. Especially when that blogger is a white supremacist.Hal Turner, an extremist online radio host and blogger, (Admittedly, I don't like to link to Wikipedia pages, but in this case, while I recognize Turner's right to express his views, however they may differ from my own, I am not about to link to his site directly, thanks), was arrested today on...
Do judges play golf with attorneys?
2009-06-24 21:45:00
A few years back, I took my father to a golf course to see Eldrick "Tiger" Woods. It was a humid, overcast day at Cog Hill, but following Tiger from hole to hole was exhilarating. What I found puzzling was the kind of conversations that flitter in the air, at golf courses. Besides admiring Woods' and Mickelson's swings, men talk about women, stocks, children, taxes, jobs, wives, girlfriends, and strip joints, giving me a clear indication of how testosterone pretty much rules our psyche. But as the 18 holes progressed, the question, "who is your lawyer?" began to surface. A man needs a good lawyer - and so does a woman (don't bust me for sexism). But does the word...

Why did the American Idol judges save him?
2009-04-17 01:56:00
The American Idol judges finally used their stupid power to save a contestant who was eliminated and they used it on that guy who looks like Justin Timberlake. Seriously why waste such an important power on him? He is only going be eliminated next week with Lil Rounds. They should have saved it on Kris ...

DMBLGIT - Introducing The Judges
2008-06-15 23:41:00
Before I introduce the judges for this June edition of Does My Blog Look In This, I have a confession to make. Today is my dad's birthday...Happy Birthday Dad! Joyeux Anniversaire Papa!My confession is that I had planned to make him a cheesecake and send it virtually via this site but things did not turn out that way...Raspberry cheesecake was indeed made, but eaten faster than I could take pictures...sorry! We thought about you though! I looked for a while for a photograph of my father but quickly realised that very much like me, he is the one behind the camera most of the time, and when I did find a couple he was making his notorious "moon face" (giant smiling face from ear to ear). Yeah...a bowl of fresh raspberries is a little more tempting than a strange French man with a scary face on a Monday!Reserved as he is, I also know that he would not want me making a big deal about his birthday so...moving on to the judges of DMBLGIT. I have started to refer to them as "my peeps" when...

Zardari and the Judges
2008-06-08 11:50:00
Anwar SyedMaulana Fazlur Rahman said at a press conference on May 26 that General Musharraf?s actions of Nov 3, 2007, including the dismissal of certain judges, could not be undone by the adoption of a National Assembly resolution and the issuance of an executive order. If that were feasible, he added, we might ask for his coup of Oct 12, 1999, also to be undone and Mr Nawaz Sharif?s government restored. The procedure for reinstating the deposed judges has become controversial. One group of jurists has maintained that a resolution of the National Assembly requiring reinstatement, followed by an executive order, would be sufficient. Others contend that a constitutional amendment is needed to open the way for their reinstatement. Maulana Fazlur Rahman, though by no means an expert in these matters, has chosen to side with this latter group.Let us suppose that the National Assembly passes the resolution under reference and the prime minister issues an executive order to implement it. Way back in January while attending the premiere party for TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES, the TV Addict also had the opportunity to talk to SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE judges Mary Murphy and Dan Karaty. One problem, this TV Addict has never seen the show. Which is exactly what I confessed to Mary and Dan at the start of interview. Now I probably shouldn’t admit this since I’m interviewing you, but I’ve never really watched SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Mary Murphy: Next! [Laughs]. Basically it’s like AMERICAN IDOL but we’re looking for talented dancers. Yeah I’ve seen clips and ‘talented’ is somewhat of an understatement. Mary Murphy: I certainly couldn’t do what they do! Is there at all a rivalry between SYTYCD and that other hit dance show? Mary Murphy: There’s no resentment at all. In fact my feeling is the more dancers the merrier. Headscarf Law Applies to All Religious Coverings, Judges Say
2008-05-17 07:51:00
DW-World.deDeutsche Welle says, on | 15.05.2008, "Teachers in Baden-Wuerttemberg cannot wear a headscarf in class A law which prohibits Muslim women teachers from wearing headscarves in a German state's public schools also forbids Catholic nuns from wearing their veils in regular classrooms, judges said Wednesday. The administrative tribunal of Baden-Wuerttemberg state set out the position in a detailed written judgment, two months after ruling verbally that a woman convert to Islam, aged 58 at the time, could not teach in her scarf.  The teacher converted to Islam in 1984 and began wearing a headscarf during class in 1995. The southwestern state has a law that bans "exterior expressions of religious confession."  The so-called "headscarf debate" is a long-raging one in Germany, home to more than 3 million Muslims, most of Turkish origin. Many consider the headscarf a form of oppression against women and say immigrants who want to live here harmoniously must accept certain Western v...

2008-05-08 04:02:00
SHOWING THEIR TRUE COLORSThere was something of a small feeding frenzy yesterday, lost in all the election news, about John McCain, his ideas about judges, and the extreme conservative reaction to it. Over the next few days I am going to be concentrating on the problems the GOP is facing with conservatives.  It isn't that "conservative" is the problem.  The problem is the fact that there is an entire breed of conservative that is not GOP and basically is wishing for the demise of the GOP.  It is time we separate the conservatives from the Republicans and the honorable ...
Judges
2008-05-07 19:38:00
I Used to belong to a NY state group and it was great until they had a power struggle within their own group and then they folded up. Landlords needs this type of group. The problem here in Oneida NY , where I live, is that the judge that does all of the evictions is not very good at all and told me once, " I hate Landlords" I was sueing a tenant for $800. and when I went the court I owed her $800. There were attorneys in the audience that were dumb founded by that decisions and told me to appeal it, but that would have cost me $1500. just to get the case in county court. The legal system here is very bad and nothing can be done about it. This judge told me that he will only evict a tenant if they owe money and no other reason. breaking a lease by a tenant is not grounds for an eviction here, and if a tenant is on a 1 year lease this judge will not evict for any reason, even if they are destroying the building, evn the police will not stop them because they say they are trenting the...
Judges Restoration : Breakup or Breakthrough
2008-05-07 18:00:00
Though Jamat Islami leader Qazi Hussain Ahmed thinks that breakup of People’s Party and Muslim League-N coalition would strengthen the dictatorship, but the ground realities say that their breakup would pose a real battle ground for the dictatorship. The delaying tactics by PPP in the reinstatement of judges and the way they have tried to postpone the by election to damage PML-N have established it beyond doubt that PPP is acting in connivance with the Pervez Musharraf according to the script dictated by the Johan Negroponte and Richard Boucher. Farooq H. Naek who looks Mohammad Ali Durrani reincarnated is hopeful of a positive outcome of the meeting as ever, but Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim, Aitzaz Ahsan and the PML-N members of the committee are utterly hopeless as no progress has been made so far in the direction of bringing up resolution on 12th May for the reinstatement of judges. Pakistan People’s Party is stressing upon PML-N to accept the Dogar judges of Nov. 3 PCO along wi...
