Judging Sarah Palin by Ignoring her Record
2008-10-20 06:21:00
Yet, again today, I find myself lectured about Sarah Palin’s inexperience by someone who knows nothing about her accomplishments.  He didn’t know what she had done as chair of the Alaska Oil and Gas Commission nor as Governor of the Last Frontier.  All he seemed to know was that she had been mayor of a ...

2008-05-22 15:01:00
Kolkata, (IANS) Young songwriters don’t give enough importance to the craft of poetry, says screenwriter and lyricist Javed Akhtar.Passion, emotion and fantasy are important,? said Akhtar, known for weaving magic through his words.?Writing is an addiction and once you get addicted, it’s very difficult to concentrate on other things. It makes you lazy and no job seems more interesting than writing,? said the man who wrote blockbusters like ?Sholay? with Salim Khan and went on to word some of Bollywood’s best known songs.Akhtar, who was here for the auditions of ?Indian Idol 4?, says judging is a cushy job.?You sit back, relax and comment or criticise others’ performance. Jokes apart, by judging shows I get to meet so many talents with whom otherwise I would not have interacted,? Akhtar told IANS.Hoping that the next Indian Idol would be a woman, he said: ?In our society, a woman has to be three times better than a man to compete with him and thank god that is ...
Dog Show - Judging and Winning
2008-05-12 12:02:00

Judging the Tesla Roadster and Chevy Volt by different standards
2008-05-09 15:27:00
There has long been an interesting paradox in the realm of cars. For some peculiar reason, people who buy really expensive cars are willing to make more compromises to the foibles of the car and cut them more slack. How else to explain grief that owners of Italian exotics withstood for decades in terms of reliability, ergonomics and build quality. Buyers of mainstream cars that often have far fewer problems as a percentage of the number of vehicles built have a fit at every little thing that goes wrong. That same paradox exists today. The Tesla Roadster by virtue of its price and performance falls into entry level of exotic cars. Despite numerous delays in getting the car into production, and obvious compromised in terms of its functionality, most people have been willing to cut the car and the company a lot of slack, myself included. In my case my experience in the auto industry allows me to understand the difficulty of the task Tesla had. I never actually expected them to meet the...

Assessing a Woman's Body Language and Judging Her Indicators of Interest
2008-04-18 15:44:00
When you were a young child, have you ever tried to decode what your parents' facial expressions mean when you ask them to buy you a new toy or to take you to Disneyland? A frown would likely be a "No!" But a nod would make you jump with joy. As you grow older, it has become a necessity to be able to detect if other people will agree with your decision or proposal. It's especially important to for men to be able to asses a woman's body language in dating situations. This is an ability that will truly help negotiators, employees, and even lovers to succeed in their ventures because they would be able to change their approach early enough to adjust to a specific situation. There are certain hints to indicate if people are more receptive in accepting your ideas. If a woman is interested in you, she'll probably exhibit at least a few of thee following:? Their hands are flat on the table.? Their palms are open.? If they're stroking their chin, they're thinking. They may agree with y...

Judging Others...or Calling The Kettle Black
2008-04-10 19:12:00
Today I watched a little situation in a parking lot. Three cars doing their thing converged into a momentary meeting. One car was backing out from a parking space, another was attempting to leave the small crowed parking lot, and the third was coming into the parking lot from the street. All were obliged to stop in their tracks as each would have run into the other if they had continued, which brought up the issue of who would go first to untangle the little log jam. Each person, whose face I could see, were both perplexed and frustrated by this unexpected encumbrance. Finally, one gentleman decided that if he got himself out of the way he would solve the problem, but in order to do that he had to back up very close to the car that was coming in from the street. That in turn scared the female driver of that car, and she in turn tried to drive around the front of the man backing up almost hitting the car waiting to leave causing it to have to back up. Finally, they all did a little sh...

MARIAH GETS A JUDGING JOB ON "AMERICAN IDOL"...!!!
2008-03-19 13:23:00
Pic below is also the official picture of her New Album E=MC2 out this April..!! This should be cool and Yes I'm a Mariah fan, rumor is that Mariah Carey is set to strut her stuff on the American Idol stage not once, not twice, but thrice. Fox News reports that it's a done deal for Mimi (the "good girl" diva) to join Bono, Brad Pitt, the Manning brothers and more on Idol Gives Back on April 9, and then return to the show the following week as a mentor, guest judge, and performer. sources for the show statethat they will have several mentors this year, though they declined to confirm any names. The question is: Does this mean the Idol contestants are taking on Mimi classics? Because, boy, would we like to hear Amanda Overmyer sing "Vision of Love."
Judging Influence
2008-03-18 11:23:00
Between 1910, with the passage of America's first drunk-driving law, and 1936 (the first year of per se DUI), the limits of DUI were largely set by medical experts...and judges. That's why judges have had the reins pulled on them since the 1970's, and their authority to hand out widely disparate sentencing varies so widely. Additionally, the sense of political pressure on judges in state systems to "get drunks" off the road has been enormous. This has had the result of changing the tactics of DUI lawyers.

Playing God by judging others
2008-03-11 21:09:00
Mathew 7:1-2 1 - Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 - For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. It’s a fact: We humans love to judge others. It’s quite easy to see the faults in those around us, even when ...

I am grateful that I am not as judgmental as all those censorious, self-righteous people around me.But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7 NIVThe first to present his case seems right, till another comes forward and questions him. Proverbs 18:17.We find it hard to apply the knowledge of ourselves to our judgment of others. Judging my brood size
2008-03-04 06:42:00
Walking downtown, a man stepped out of a local bar to have a cigarette. He looked over my children while lighting up.All yours?Somehow, I knew what was coming as I answered in the affirmative. How many?He seemed incredulous at the result of his own count, needing my confirmation that there were indeed four children. Or maybe he was drunk enough to be seeing double. Or thought he was. I braced for the invariable comment as I responded.Life is never boring at our house. He looked disapproving and even shook his head.I thought it was a daycare.I couldn't miss the sneer in his voice. But I laughed. Not a polite laugh. Nor even an uncomfortable laugh. A real laugh because I really thought it was funny...as if I had never heard that one.As many times as I have had this discussion, it is different when it is your obstetrician joking,Better you than me. Or the stranger who inquires as to whether or not I know what "causes that."Why, I do not know. I didn't think about it then. May...

While judging a person
2008-02-27 08:46:00
How do you judge a person? You may do so by his/her outer appearance, inner personality, financial status etc. But my main question here is by his/her present status only, past status only, present more and past less or past more and present less? Is it good to judge a person only by his/her present status or past status? These simple but some serious questions if thought carefully have been popping up in my mind from the time I became able or started to think about our society, human being and recently I reached at some specific point but not totally which I want to share with you here.Let me start with this one that happened to me. I was very talented during my lower classes and always used to be first in class. All teachers used to love me very much and my classmates also were very frank and friendly with me. But, I had to change my school and I was behaved in a very good manner by teachers and students of the new school for the whole first year. Unfortunately, I lose some positi...

Now that two completely different versions of the software developer's kit (SDK) have been released, it's time to assess what's being said about Google's foray in the mobile arena. Did it improve on the initial offering? What changes were made? Does Android look like it's going to live up to its hype?Around 4-6 weeks ago, there was a lot of backlash surrounding the SDK and how it was buggy, missing vital information, and not quite what was expected. Google's name was being tarnished by bloggers and tech sites as word quickly spread that they were "being unresponsive to the developers" working on Android. After a week or so of hype, the consensus among bloggers and fanboys was that people were just expecting way too much out of a pre-release SDK.Fast forward to Mobile World Congress (MWC) and the public unveiling. The first few days of MWC had almost all interested parties singing Android's praises as they found it to be considerably fast and intuitive, even on phone te...
Judging a book by everything bar its cover
2008-01-22 11:27:00
I was one of those kids who did not like to eat his greens amongst a lot of other things. I ate with my eyes. If I didn't like the look of it then I knew, I just knew, that I wouldn't like it. In fact any possibility of that happening was negated by my use of the present tense, "I DON'T like it." That vegetable did not exist in my future. You know how the rest of that conversation goes. Now I'm what passes for an adult and everything I didn't like as a kid I pretty much relish now. I'm particularly fond of red cabbage actually even if it does give me wind. I've learned not to judge a book by its cover. Most of my books have pretty naff covers, to be totally honest, apart from Adrian Chesterman's cover to The Demolished Man (which I once saw as a poster in Edinburgh and I regret not buying it to this very day). In fact some of the covers I have are simply boring-in-extremis like the cover to Nabokov's Bend Sinister. There is no picture. All you have is a sickly yellow backgro...
Judging
2008-01-17 01:44:00
This poem I quote the Author, Eliza R. Snow: "Once I said unto another,In thine eye there is a mote;If thou are a friend . a brother.Hold, and let me pull it out. But I could not see it fairly,For my sight was very dim; When I came to search more clearly,In my eye there was a beam. If I love my brother dearer,And his mote I would erase,Then the light should shine the clearer. For the eye's a tender place. Others I have oft reproved,For an object like a mote; Now I wish this beam removed,Oh, that tears would wash it out! Charity and love are healing,These will give the clearest sight; When I saw my brother's failing,I was not exactly right. Now I'll take no further trouble,Jesus' love is all my theme;Little motes are but a bubble,When I think upon the beam." - Eliza R. Snow

Judging VoIP and Vetting it Afterwards, The Quality

If I did not read the header or the complete article, I would have thought Ephraim Schwartz at Infoworld was talking about Cellular Phones and Services; So read this before going over to read this article(read the comments) and the new one he wrote, Vetting the Quality of VoIP, as well. So if this is the real scenario, I sure we will have a happy endings, once we iron out the edges."Problems? Where do I begin. Let me count the ways. 1. Scratchy connections with lots of static.2. Dropped calls in the middle of a conversation.3. Spotty coverage within a single household with dead spots.4. One-way conversations, that are supposed to be two-way, but unfortunately, I can't hear the other person although they can hear me.5. Certain local numbers not accessible. I am told I have reached a non-working number. [Go figure.]"Tags: VoIP, VoIP Quality, voip

Judging Giuliani by the company he keeps
2007-10-23 19:39:00
Last week, after Bernie Kerik?s legal troubles got worse, Rudy Giuliani vowed to ?check more carefully? into the background of his associates from now on. How?s that working out? Not too well. The man named yesterday by the Giuliani campaign to a law enforcement outreach campaign post in Minnesota was forced to resign a government job in 2004 when proof surfaced that he?d admitted to repeatedly using the word ?nigger? in the past, Election Central has learned. Sheriff Richard Stanek was appointed to the post of chair of Minnesota Law Enforcement for Rudy. The campaign?s press release promised that Stanek ?will work with law enforcement personnel throughout the state to communicate Mayor Giuliani?s record of fighting crime and his commitment to first responders.? But as a rival campaign has pointed out to us, it turns out Stanek has admitted to having a history of racially charged remarks. He was forced to resign his post as Minnesota?s public safety commissioner in 2004 after i...
