HBO?s Hard Knocks is Finally Coming to Denver! sort of?
2008-05-08 14:00:00
It looks like HBO’s acclaimed football reality series Hard Knocks is coming back again this training camp. The bit of surprising news coming out this week is that the show is covering the Dallas Cowboys again for the second time in it’s short four seasons (three aired). How does this affect us Bronco ...
The Chiefs Are HUGE Draft Day Winners
2008-04-29 02:19:00
As I watched the NFL Draft the past two days, I just hoped that the Chiefs would bring in someone that would make the Jared Allen trade worth while. I was maybe one of the only Chiefs fans not happy with the trade, and while I still am not 100 percent happy with the move, I definitely can live with it now.First RoundIf you have to give up a great defensive player in Jared Allen, no doubt getting the best defensive player in the draft is worth it and thats what the Chiefs got in Glenn Dorsey. Taught under the tenacious coaching of Bo Pelini, Dorsey is a guy that can just flat out push over offensive linemen. He will definitely be the anchor of the Chiefs defense for years to come. Then with their second first round pick they got the guy many mock drafts were predicting the Chiefs would pick at #5 in Branden Albert. Both guys will start day one for the Chiefs.Second RoundWith Ty Law gone and Patrick Surtain getting up their in age, the Chiefs needed a corner and they got a first round...
Chiefs First Round Buzzkill
2008-04-27 14:58:00
If you’ve been surfing around the interwebs like I have, you’ll notice that every news outlet out there is already distributing out Day 1 grades for each pick. A well-documented habit of irrelevance, but that’s not what we’re going to discuss. Upon viewing these grades, you may have noticed that the Kansas City Chiefs were ...
Jared Allen Trade Gives Chiefs the Power to Move Up?
2008-04-24 03:07:00
I can just see it now… the draft is falling perfectly into place for the Broncos to select my guy, Ryan Clady. Boston College QB Matt Ryan falls to the Ravens, who are the most likely to take Clady. It’s a straight shot from there through Cincinnati, New Orleans, and Buffalo. We’re ...
Vikings Take Jared Allen out of the AFC West
2008-04-23 07:14:00
And for that, we give a hearty “Thank you,” Minnesota.  Jared Allen has moved on to greener pastures (and a much, much fatter wallet) after the Vikings struck a deal with KC for three 2008 draft picks.  They gave Kansas City the 17th overall selection, as well as their two third rounders (with one of ...
Chiefs to Trade Jared Allen?
2008-04-17 20:05:00
I’ve been hearing buzz about Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Jared Allen for quite awhile… namely, the type of buzz that would see Allen leaving KC in a trade for draft picks. I didn’t really buy into it at the time, but today’s news is the type that’s hard to ignore. Jay Glazer of FoxSports.com ...
Herm Edwards Embraces Rebuilding Mode
2008-04-03 23:30:00
I was listening to a sports talk radio show at work today when the hosts started comparing the situation with the Broncos to the situation with the Chiefs. Then I heard this (semi-quoting here): “Herm Edward embraces rebuilding mode.” I can only take it that the hosts were trying to imply that the Broncos ...
Looking at Draft Needs Across the AFC West
2008-04-03 19:18:00
The 2008 NFL Draft is a few weeks away, and the Broncos aren’t the only team excited for what the future holds. What are the Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, and San Diego Chargers in need of as the draft approaches? That’s what this CBS article set out to do. It starts by stating ...

Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Herm Edwards: "You'd have to ask Tampa&q
2008-03-26 01:59:00
Former Bucs Defensive Backs Coach and current Head Coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, Herm Edwards, has called out his former employer, well, in a way.. When asked about the Bucs (and Browns) abilities to sign C Jeff Faine (and K Josh Brown) nano-seconds after Free Agency began, Edwards had the following to say: "You'd have to ask Tampa," Edwards said. "I don't know what Tampa did. There were probably some deals done before (the start of the league year)," Edwards said. "We didn't cheat. We abided by the rules. That's how you're supposed to do it, and that's what we did" - KansasCity.com All I can say is this: Tons of teams do it, Herm more-than-likely did it when he jumped from the Jets to the Chiefs. Also, reports have stated that the Bucs called Faine at exactly 12:01AM to talk contracts. I mean knowing Herm and his clock management skills, he probably waited until after lunch the following day to extend a feeler out to Faine that the Chiefs were interested. By then, Faine ...

The Phinsider Community Mock Draft: Pick #5 - Kansas City Chiefs
2008-03-20 17:40:00
With the fourth pick in The Phinsider Community Mock Draft, the Oakland Raiders select Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas. McFadden won with 47% of the vote.  Vernon Gholston followed in second with 25%.  Glenn Dorsey came in third with 17%. So now the draft looks like this so far: Miami Dolphins - Chris Long, DE, Virginia (49%) St. Louis Rams - Jake Long, OT, Michigan (67%) Atlanta Falcons - Matt Ryan, QB, BC (68%) Oakland Raiders - Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas (47%) Next up is the fifth pick, which belongs to the Kansas City Chiefs.  For all the Chiefs' news and insight you could want, head over to Arrowhead Pride.  Listed below are the Chiefs' draft needs, according to NFL Draft Countdown: 1. Offensive Line: What had been a team strength for many years has now become their greatest weakness. It's not easy to replace guys like Willie Roaf and Will Shields and they certainly proved that. 2. Cornerback: Ty Law was sent packing and Patrick Surtain is near the e...
In The Red Zone: Patriots Considering Pacman
2008-03-09 02:00:00
The New England Patriots are reportedly interested in Tennessee Titans cornerback/suspended bad boy Adam “Pacman” Jones. Detroit, Oakland, Kansas City, Houston, New Orleans and Dallas are among those to also have expressed at least some level of interest. Jones, who was suspended all of last season, could come up for review for re-instatement prior to the NFL Draft in April. Jones who was the 6th overall pick in the 2005 draft is considered a top cover corner and is an extremely dangerous punt returner. But he is becoming more well known for his off field behavior than his actions on Sundays. He’s been arrested six times since being drafted by the Titans and was at the center of a Las Vegas strip club melee in February 2007 that left a man paralyzed. He’s currently serving three years probation, stemming from an incident in Fayette County, Ga., where he was alleged to have bitten a police officer’s hand. So the questions begs to be asked. Does “Pa...

2008 NFL Mock Draft: Kansas City Chiefs
2008-02-06 05:01:00
Previous Picks 1) Miami Dolphins: Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU2) St. Louis Rams: Jake Long, OT, Michigan3) Atlanta Falcons: Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College4) Oakland Raiders: DeSean Jackson, WR, California The Longest Mock Draft in NFL History Continues... Let?s go over what we?ve learned so far in the mock draft: 1) Raiders fans are extremely sensitive. 2) If I?m right about the first four picks, either Darren McFadden or Chris Long will drop all the way to the Jets at six. 3) I shouldn?t write about teams I don?t like within 24 hours of a Patriots? Super Bowl loss. 4) Nobody in the Patriots? secondary can catch a God damn football (might still be a little bitter).I like the Chiefs?as much as an East Coast guy can like an AFC West team. The best thing about the Chiefs is that they?re not the Raiders, Broncos, or Chargers. The worst thing about the Chiefs is, of course, Herm Edwards. It?s amazing how an offense can go completely to crud as soon as Herm takes over a team. I ...

One game later than it needed to be, the Broncos dominate
2007-12-10 02:35:00
And oh, did they dominate. They clicked in every phase of the game en route to a 41-7 victory over the Chiefs. Special teams coverage was beautiful, often tackling on first contact and rarely letting it go too badly when the first contact wasn’t enough. Jamie Winborn and Paul Smith both made plays worthy of ...

Kansas City Chiefs: Priest Holmes & Larry Johnson
2007-10-25 18:20:00
Yahoo!'s football writer Mike Silver had some interesting insight's into the Kansas City Chiefs' locker room in his On The Run column on Monday.  In it, an unnamed Chiefs' veteran is quoted saying negative things about Johnson's pass-blocking.  Ty Law went on record with quotes about Holmes making the defense stand-up, and Tony Gonzlaez questioned everything. In a week that has seen top 5 Rb Joseph Addai lose carries to CFL refugee Kenton Keith, the possibility of another Top 5 RB, Larry Johnson, losing carries has to be taken seriously.  However, I am not sold on Holmes quite yet. Jason Whitlock of the Kansas City Star offers a contrary opinion to all the "happiness" expressed by Holmes' return.I don't dislike Priest Holmes. For reasons I do not know, I believe he intentionally tries to confuse people, particularly the news media, coaches and front-office executives. That is his right. For that reason, I believe virtually nothing that comes out of his mouth. I...

Trade - Michael Bennett from Kansas City Chiefs To Tampa Bay Buccaneers
2007-10-16 20:43:00
From ESPN.com The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have acquired seventh-year veteran tailback Michael Bennett from the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs received an undisclosed draft pick in the trade."We believe that the addition of Michael Bennett will strengthen our running back position," Bucs general manager Bruce Allen said in a statement.Although Bennett does not fit the model of the kind of running back that the club had been attempting to add in trade talks over the past week, the swap provides the Bucs a veteran back who was a starter in the league early in his career, and who was named to the 2002 Pro Bowl after rushing for 1,296 yards that season."It really caught me off-guard," Bennett told the Kansas City Star. "I heard the speculation for the past few days, but nobody from the Chiefs said anything to me, so I guessed it wasn't going to happen. I was wrong. It's a business. It's just one of those things that happen. The departure of Bennett from the Chiefs could mean that Kansas C...

The Best Worst Team Money Can Buy
2007-09-26 16:06:00
There have more than a few offensive players in the NFL who have underperformed thus far, much to the chagrin of fans and fantasy football players.Three weeks into the season, as the first bye week is among us, it seems like an appropriate time to delve into the realm of repugnant play, and devise a team of the underachieving.QB - Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints: To fully comprehend his awfulness, there is but one stat you need to know. Of the 34 QB's who have started at least two games this year, only two have a worse QB rating than Brees - Rex Grossman and Tavaris Jackson. Brees' stands at 57.1, while Sexy Rexy's is 45.2 and the injured Jackson's is 40.0.Brees' 1 touchdown throw means his TD% (percentage of passes thrown for a TD) is .8%. Only the injured J.P. Losman is worse, with a 0.0 TD%. Even Joey Harrington has a 2.1 TD%. Being compared with Grossman, Jackson, Losman and Harrington is not company Mr. Brees should be keeping.RB - Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars: ...
