2008-06-05 22:18:00 I'm pretty sure I posted a link to this technique before a long time back, but without explanation- so here it is, the Uchi-Mata for MMA and No-Gi, by everyone's favorite Judo MMA fighter, Karo Parisyan. http://www.youtube.com/v/EdTVTO-bWeGsThis throw setup is a counter to your opponent trying to drop you with an outside leg trip from the clinch- little do most US fighters know, that's a perfect setup to get raped via Uchi Mata.-He clinches you up, and wraps your leg from the outside to trip you for the takedown. Grab him either behind the head and under the armpit, or with an overhook on the head side of the opponent.-Here, you have about a second to react before you end up on your back in half guard.-With his body tight around you, your arm in a good spot, and your leg between his, now it's time to make him pay for trying to take you down.-Keeping the grip tight, you bring that outside leg inside to let you stay upright when you disrupt the center of gravity between you...

Karo's 17-5 record doesn't tell his story on it's own, but a closer look defines his fighting style. First, he's only lost to three people Sean Sherk (3 times, 2000-1), Georges St Pierre (2004), and most recently to Diego Sanchez (2006)...his showing at both of his UFC losses were very respectable. If you were looking to follow Randy Couture's advice and bet on Jackson the best odds are behind you now (but still worth it down to +170). But, if you think the Ice Man is taking this one home you should be able to get a piece of him for around -200 and maybe even -175 by Friday or early Saturday, with four solid books to chose from you should be able to play either side of this one comfortably. Myself, I already dropped my dienero when Jackson was +200.Karo Parisyan (-300) vs Josh Burkman (+260) - The betting public is still in love with Karo and money continues to come in behind him. The line on this fight should be much closer (-115/+135). My prediction for the fight is decsion for Burkman and a hell of a fight.
