Katie Couric, fresh from ruining her Louboutins exiting limos on gravel in ?this great unwashed middle of the country,?  confides to The Daily Beast's Howard Kurtz: ?American voters are slightly schizophrenic?they want compromise, and yet some of them are ideologically so fixated to one point of view? There are a lot of moderate Americans who are just fed up with negative campaign ads, fed up with the vitriol, fed up with the paralysis.?It's just another speculative puff piece on the $15 mil a year third-place media leaker.  "Unwashed" CB reader ZD wonders: "Should I be offended?" Is this the same Katie Couric who carried around chicken bones in her pockets?

What NFL Team Does Sarah Palin Support
2008-10-01 20:20:00
I have a problem with Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin and it has nothing to do with her political views.* Perhaps you saw the three second clip of Palin jogging in a Donovan McNabb Philadelphia Eagles jersey. (If not, the video is below at the 3:11 mark and a picture is on the right.) First of all, besides actual football players, who actually jogs wearing a football jersey? Wouldn?t a T-shirt or Under Armor shirt be more comfortable? Let?s assume that because Pain is wearing a McNabb jersey in the video, she has some type of affinity for the Eagles. Does she only support the Eagles? Well, when I wrote last month that Joe Biden is a Steelers fan, Captain Easychord shared a July 2007 Pittsburgh Tribune-Review article which showed that Palin is also a Steelers fan. So is she a Steelers fan, an Eagles fan, or both? This is where things get even more complex. Sarah Palin is also a member of the official Seattle Seahawks official fan club, the Seahawkers.** Super Bowl...

Howard Kurtz Wash Post on TV talking heads' Scott McClellan Bush bash spin: [Keith] Olbermann hailed the book, "What Happened," as "a primary document of American history" that contained "poetry." Talk about role reversal: It was Olbermann who said in 2005 that "whenever I hear Scott McClellan talking about 'media credibility,' I strain to remember who it was who admitted Jeff Gannon to the White House press room and called on him all those times." (Gannon, a conservative blogger with an X-rated past [a gay hooker], now says, "Scott McClellan's credibility is zero.")So is the credibility of the Big Three TV networks. And at 74, despite painful moments of cluelessness with even borderline-hip guests, King still draws some of CNN's strongest numbers." Gail Shister TV Newser in a Q&A with dumped CNN ego Aaron Brown on the beach until now with a new PBS Tee Vee show. He didn't need the dough. CNN paid Brown for doing nothing while his contract ran out. CBS News: They Shoot Horses, Don't They?
2008-04-24 16:43:00
It is time for CBS News to be put down, in the Old Yeller sense of the phrase. It's time to turn out the lights and just start airing Hollywood gossip at 6:30 p.m. The network could follow Schieffer's lead and simply dissolve the thing after the inauguration, maybe keeping 60 Minutes around, either as a commercial-free public service program (because what exec doesn't love a prestige-hogging loss leader?) or under the auspices of CBS' entertainment division (because why keep pretending?). The farewell would be handled with dignified pomp?tributes to Murrow and Severeid and so forth. And if Walter Cronkite is in good health, he could do the honors with a final sign off. I'm serious. That's how bad things are, and that's the way it is. Troy Patterson Slate "Dead Air. The New York Times follows up on yesterday's WSJ's musings about Katie Couric's CBS News demise. Apparently the rumors of her death weren't greatly exaggerated and the rumors greased the skids for her exit:Bill Carter & Jacques Steinberg NYT: The discussion took place in New York on Feb. 28 and involved four people: Ms. Couric; her agent, Alan Berger of the Creative Artists Agency; Sean McManus, the president of CBS News; and Leslie Moonves, the chairman of CBS.
