UFC 84 Betting Odds and Analysis
2008-05-19 21:39:00 Fight Break Downs:Lyoto Machida (-200 BetUS) vs. Tito Ortiz (+180 Bodog) Machida may not have an endless KO highlight reel but while training out of the Black House with Anderson Silva and A. Nogueira he has developed his own unique and undefeated style. He has combined his karate background with Muay Thai, wrestling, and Jiu Jitsu techniques (starting at 15) into a calm counter fighting style. The dragon's style may never be a fan favorite, but it wins by forcing opponents to step outside of their own game plan.Lyoto's gameplan in this fight will look much like it has in other UFC fights. He will stay outside counter punching and throwing the occasional back kick. It is very likey that he will be taken down in the first round and see the same sort of barrage that Forrest experienced. Lyoto has both the chin and the skill from his back to avoid serious damage. In the second round Tito will likely taste Lyoto's power and speed. We all know what happens when Tito gets hit, it gets ...

Chuck Liddell to fight Keith Jardine
2008-01-25 17:59:00 In a recent interview Chuck gave some insight into his next opponent, read below."My next fight will probably be in the summer and I am thinking about Jardine since Jackson is already scheduled to fight (Forrest Griffin). I can’t wait around (for Jackson). I love the sport and I think I have a couple years left in me. I’m a very competitive person. I don’t even like to lose at things I’m not good at.”Read the full interview here
Chuck Liddell's Seven Defining Moments
2007-12-18 21:07:00 What separates a champion from a contender, a star from an average Joe scraping out a few dollars here and there on the club fight circuit? In a lot of ways it comes down to what a fighter does when faced with challenges that would make most crumble. And even though a fighter won?t always win in these situations, how he learns from adversity will shape who he eventually becomes.Former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell is one of the sport?s legitimate superstars; what were the seven defining moments of his career? An article by UFC's Thomas Gerbasi1) Kevin Randleman ? May 4, 2001 ? UFC 31Result ? Liddell KO 1When Liddell entered his bout with former heavyweight champion Kevin Randleman in Atlantic City, he was seen as a solid contender, but also one who was expected to be a stepping stone for ?The Monster?, who was making his UFC debut at light heavyweight. Liddell had other plans, and there was no denying the fight ending power or quiet charisma of Liddell, who would hence...

UFC 76 Shakes Up LHWs Even More
2007-10-02 18:27:00 UFC 76 was a wild night of big upsets, big names, and big breakouts.Big Upset: Keith Jardine over Chuck Liddell. This was supposed to be the Chuck's two wins en route to a LHW title shot. Instead, he was beaten by split (albeit uncontroversial) decision. No Bisping-Hamill screams here, The Iceman just got beat. Where does he go from here? After spending years beating up on UFC alums, he's had a real problem with PRIDE guys and younger fighters. Maybe a match up with Shogun? Who knows...it's tough to sell a Liddell fight these days. (Never thought I'd say that one).Big Upset: Forrest Griffin over Shogun Rua. And THIS was supposed to be Rua's tune up so White could justify sending him over to Rampage for a title shot. Now what does White do? Hendo just lost; he can't justify Liddell, Wanderlei, or Rua. Major credit needs to go to Forrest here, he didn't just catch Shogun or get lucky. He soundly beat the 23 year old prodigy.Big Name: Wanderlei Silva was in attendan...

The Fallout of Knockout: Inside UFC 76?s Upsets
2007-09-25 00:29:00 The real spelling of disarray: light heavyweight. After crowning an uncontested king in Quinton Jackson, two weeks later Keith Jardine and Forrest Griffin sent unofficial number one contenders Chuck Liddell and ?Shogun? Rua into a downward spiral, taking the division down with them. What does the UFC do now? By Danny AcostaThe old adage probably written by one of the greatest thinkers of his time, but made famous by Ric Flair, ?To be the man, you have to beat the man!? aptly describes UFC 76. Upset performances?and that is almost a vacuous term in 2007 and in a sport as versatile as mixed martial arts?by The Ultimate Fighter products Forrest Griffin and Keith Jardine in the co-main events proved perception is nothing; reality is everything.Reality is a foul mistress for Chuck Liddell and Mauricio Rua, who were perceived as the two best fighters not wearing unified gold before decisive losses on Saturday night. ?Shogun? even had the luxury as being nominated the 205-pound king becaus...

UFC 76 Fight of the Night and Submission Winners and Keith Jardine Intervie
2007-09-24 20:59:00 In a post UFC 76 fight press conference, Dana White announced the winners of the best “Knock Out and Submission” and best “Fight of the Night”. The fight of the night went to Tyson Griffin and the winner of the “Knock Out and Submission” of the night went to Forrest Griffin. Both of these fighters fought great fights. It’s amazing how exciting the UFC is getting these days… It is additionally amazing how well many of former “The Ultimate Fighter” reality show contestants are doing. Speaking of which, what about Keith Jardine? Keith Jardine’s performance against Chuck Liddell was impressive. I have to admit, I thought Chuck was out of Keith’s league, man was I wrong. Check out this post fight Sherdog interview with Keith Jardine to hear Keith’s take on the fight.

Elite light heavyweights fill UFC 76, Liddell and Shogun in forefront
2007-09-21 11:48:00 UFC 76 brings five can't miss fights to the main card. Can Jardine knockout "The Iceman?" Has "Shogun" taken on too much before his UFC debut? Is Fitch going to take the respect he deserves? Saturday night might answer some of these questions...By Danny AcostaIn the main event of the evening, knockout-inducing strikers Chuck Liddell and Keith Jardine set their targets on Quinton Jackson. Prior the Houston Alexander?s take off on Jardine?s chin, ?The Dean of Mean? felt he had earned a shot at Liddell?s gold. The contender was setback and so was the champion, suffering his second devastating loss to ?Rampage.?Now, the two meet in a clash that determines a future title challenger at 205-pounds.?The Iceman? reigned over the light heavyweight division with a simple game plan: stay standing until the opponent falls. Mixed martial arts? style diversity suggests this formula is flawed, but Liddell demonstrated on Jeremy Horn, Randy Couture, Renato Sobral, and Tito Ortiz that his sprawl and...
