Keith Law's Top Five Prospects By Position
2008-01-31 14:31:00 It is prospect list time! ESPN's Keith Law began rolling out his top prospects list. Tuesday, he posted his Top 5 prospects by postions. Yesterday, he posted his Top 5 by organization, and, today, he will release his Top 100. Unfortunately, all the lists are behind the Insider subscription wall. As a result, I will only "tease" you with a couple "surprise" players at each position today. Over the next few days I will do some thing similar with the next two lists. Mr. Law has an ESPN chat today, and I'm sure he will reveal even more of his rankings via questions. I'll try to answer any questions about a specific player's presence on the list, though. Catcher Taylor Teagarden, Texas J.R. Towles, Houston First base Angel Villalona, San Francisco Lars Anderson, Boston Middle infield Elvis Andrus, Texas (ss) German Duran, Texas (2b) Third base Josh Vitters, Chicago Cubs Brandon Wood, Los Angeles Angels Center field Fernando Martinez, New ...

MLB Rumors Keith Law Style
2007-11-22 01:32:00 With the GM Winter Meetings just 10 or so days from begining (12/3), trade rumors are sure to pick-up in intensity. Given the contracts being handed out so far, albeit mostly by the Yankees but the Phillies did give reliever JC Romer a 3YR/$12MM deal, one can reasonably conclude that good old-fashioned trades makes more sense. Maybe this is why the Astros dealt AAA speedster to the Atlanta Braves for reliever Oscar Villareal instead of chasing Luis Vizcaino. ESPN.com's Keith Law has an article up on ten players who could be traded in the coming weeks. Some have already been mentioned like Andy LaRoche (Marlins), Coco Crisp (losers of the Hunter/Rowand/Jones sweepstakes) and Gerald Laird (Mets), but some are quite surprising like Adam Lind and David DeJesus. One thing I can say is all these players look like a Billy Beane Wish list - out of favor for resons not readily apparent in their offensive or defensive production. KC OF David DeJesuS LAD ...

Keith Law Q&A
2007-07-21 17:11:00 I realized recently that I don't know a lot about how trades and discussions between GMs actually go down. Fortunately, ESPN's Keith Law was able to fill in the gaps for me in our Q&A below. Keith was formerly the assistant GM in Toronto under J.P. Ricciardi. What steps does a team take to ensure that trade discussions don't leak out to the media or to other teams? You limit the number of people who are know the details of the discussions. There's not much more you can do, and you're always trusting the other side to keep offers and discussions to themselves. About how many people from each team are privy to a trade discussion with another team? Depends entirely on the FO. In Toronto, it was usually around a half-dozen people, sometimes as many as ten. I think most FOs play it closer to the vest. Are intentional media leaks common? Absolutely, and they're not all true. What are the logistics of trade discussions - is it typically one GM on the phone wit...

Keith Law and The Toronto Blue Jays
2007-05-10 18:10:00 Here is the a list of selected ESPN chats today. The one I am most interested in reading is the one by Keith Law. I hope he has prepared an acerbic answer to any questions pertaining to the lying of his former employer. With yesterday's kiss of death from the ownership of the Blue Jays, how long before the manager and general manager are out the door? That situation can't continue. The manager has almost come to fist-a-cuffs with two players. What message is sent to the team that someone so unprofessional can be allowed to keep his job while the two players are no longer with the organization? Combine that with the admitted lying of the general manager and an atmosphere is set for the players to rebel in a passive-agressive manner. Fantasy Baseball Focus at 11AM Keith Law at 1PM. Fantasy Baseball Focus at 3PM. Football Scientist KC Joyner at 4PM.

Keith Law, FBF, NFL & NBA Chats
2007-04-12 17:10:00 With a rainy rain in the Northeast, I've got links to a slew of inside-the-house/dormroom/offic-e reading material in the form of ESPN chats. I have even added the link to an NBA chat! (Hey, where is that fantasy NBA blogger I'm looking to add to Fake Teams?) The usual disclaimer applies. These chats are open to all while they are on-going and are immediately unavailable to non-subscribers once they end. I'll be adding a sample from each chat if I find something noteworty. You can do the same. At 1PM today, there is a chat with Keith Law. I will be reading all of today's ESPN chats, but this is the one I will be sure to read if time is squeezed. For those who need their basbeall information earlier, Steve Phillips will be chatting at noon, and, again, there is a double shot of Fantasy Baseball Focus chats at 11AM and at 3PM for those who need even more. There is also an NBA chat with Chad Ford at noon. Who says its too early to begin speculati...
