2007-11-04 11:12:00 MOUNT KELUD, East Java Indonesian authorities said Saturday that Mount Kelud not eruption as they had previously reported, but warned that residents deadly volcano remained at the highest level alert. Government scientists said that seismic monitors on Kelud’s slopes and continuous tremors detected an increase in temperature of the crater lake, indicating an eruption had begun. Scientists, who abandoned their posts in the volcano, it was not possible to confirm visually the eruption, because the peak in densely populated island of Java has been clouded in the fog. But Surono, a senior government volcanologist who goes by a single name, told el-Shinta radio station late Saturday “in reality Kelud no eruption,” stressing that the surveillance equipment near the crater was still working. Tanda-tanda alam tersebut adalah banyaknya hewan liar dari lereng Gunung Kelud turun ke perkampungan sejak dua hari yang lalu (16/10).
