Kentucky Advances to Sweet 16; Fans Advance to Golden Corral
2011-03-20 05:25:00
OWENSBORO- Most in the sleepy state of Kentucky settle for a Saturday night at the local bar; waxing poetic about times gone by. But on this rare evening, Kentucky natives will be exchanging their "George Strait's Heartland" t-shirts for 'somethin' collered'. Tonight, the University of Kentucky's men's basketball team advanced to the round of 16 for the. The win set off gun shots, truck horns, and m-80s.
Truth in Accounting Issues: Kentucky's 'Financial State of the St
2011-02-22 13:00:00
From the Institute for Truth in Accounting... Chicago (November 29, 2010) Today, the Institute for Truth in Accounting released Kentucky's "Financial State of the State." After an intensive review of the State's 2010 audited financial report the Institute determined the State is in a precarious financial position because it does not have the funds available to pay more than $32 billion of the State's commitments as they come due. Each taxpayer's share of this financial burden equals $26,300. Kentucky state law requires a balanced budget. "If governors and legislatures had truly balanced the state's budget, no taxpayer's financial burden would exist," said Sheila Weinberg, founder and CEO of the Institute for Truth in Accounting (IFTA). She continued, "A state budget...

Rand Paul Jack Conway Kentucky Senate Debate 10/25/10 VIDEO
2010-10-26 14:58:00
Rand Paul Jack Conway Kentucky Senate Debate 10/25/10 VIDEO FULL STREAMING VIDEO.BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- At a news conference today in Lexington, Dr. Rand Paul announced that he would attend the final scheduled debate between he and his opponent Jack Conway, despite the shameful political attack ad released by Conway earlier in the week attacking Paul?s religious beliefs.Below are Dr. Paul?s remarks:I continue to be astounded that Jack Conway thinks it is appropriate to attack my pro-life Christian faith and by inference my family. To date, he has refused to apologize for his abhorrent behavior and that is a shame. For the past week, Republicans and Democrats across the nation have condemned my opponent?s ad as ?despicable,? ?odious,? and ?dangerous.?Throughout the last year and a half, dozens of people have brought personally damaging information to us about my opponent and his family. My instructions to my staff, ?We won?t go there.?Do I want a pat on the back for this? No. But w...

Supremacists to rally at Gettysburg.
2010-05-20 17:48:00
Should someone call Rand Paul?  I am sure they need a featured speaker. Now sure, that's not entirely fair, but did you see Rand Paul attempt to avoid (over and over) questions from Rachel Maddow last night.  She wanted a simple "Yes" or "No" answer to the question of if he believed it was OK for a business to refuse service to someone based on race?  He REFUSED to answer the question, and kept dodging it, and trying to some how equate it to gun rights??? He is not an unintelligent man, so I don't see how he thinks his lofty comparison will some how distract the viewer from his dodge of the question... Over... And over... And over again. This is going to be a big problem for Paul's candidacy, and rightfully so.  The good people of Kentucky should be ashamed to have this man represent them.  Even if we take him at face value that he is racist, and that he can't stand any kind of "government sanctioned bias," it is very difficult to see how his extreme ...

No Shame In That Game: Cornell Challenges, But Can't Top Kentucky
2010-03-26 07:07:00
Kentucky 62, Cornell 45The final score doesn't reflect the challenge Cornell gave No. 1 Kentucky Thursday night, but anyone who watched the game saw a team full of non-scholarship players give a bunch of future NBA first-round picks all they could handle. Kentucky's athleticism, speed and length were ultimately too much for the Big Red, who were never able to get into a good rhythm offensively. After jumping out to a 10-2 lead, Cornell let DeMarcus Cousins and UK capitalize on high-percentage shots in the paint to go on a 30-6 run. A 16-point halftime deficit was simply too much for the Ivy Leaguers to overcome, despite much improved play in the second half. Had adjustments been made earlier, the...

Defense Saves the Day: Indiana Hangs On, Beats Eastern Kentucky 19-13
2009-09-07 04:05:00
Thank goodness for experience. The veteran Hoosiers defense, which gave up more than 35 points per game last season, allowed just one touchdown, forced a crucial fumble, sacked the quarterback four times and had a safety to lead the Hoosiers to season opening win in renovated Memorial Stadium. Though the win certainly wasn't pretty, there were signs of encouragement. New starting quarterback Ben Chappell was solid throwing 27 of 36 for a career-high 326 yards with one touchdown and receiver Tandon Doss also caught eight passes for 125 yards, a career-high. But, Bill Lynch's revamped offense failed to run the ball with any consistency, something that has been a point of emphasis in the offseason....

Setting an ESPN Fantasy Fishing Line-up for Kentucky Lake
2009-06-10 12:23:00
The Mississippi River is one of the great bass fisheries in this country, but this particular section (Fort Madison) I think is under a little bit of hard times from last year's flodding.  This time of year, fish should be really starting to gang up in pads and eel grass edges, but from the sounds of it, not much of it has grown back from last summer.  So if you can find some good stretches, they could be loaded, but also very crowded.  A strong wood flipping bite could play as well.  Either way, its nice to see the Elites visit the upper midwest for a change, should be a very exciting tournament, they will catch plenty of fish.  Look for Swimming Jigs to be a big player here.I am making some fairly serious changes this week to try to make some big moves, Alton Jones had to go, he was just too safe. Here are a few guys that I think would be solid fantasy fishing picks that are not on my team.  Chris Lane, Tommy Biffle, Iaconelli and Jami ...
Setting an ESPN Fantasy Fishing Line-up for Kentucky Lake
2009-06-03 03:01:00
Kentucky Lake is one of the great bass fisheries in this country.  This time of year, fish should be really starting to stack up on ledges.  Sounds like water levels have dropped, so flipping bushes probably won't play much, but you never know.By the way, you need to get it in by tomorrow 8am central, this tournament actually starts on a Wednesday and ends on Saturday to allow travel time to Iowa next week.  The next 3 events Kentucky Lake, Mississippi River, & Lake Oneida are all vastly different fisheries, so trying to set your lineup to fit all 3 may be a bit of a challenge. Here are a few guys that I think would be solid fantasy fishing picks that are not on my team.  Kelly Jor-dan, Kevin Wirth, Edwin Evers & Timmy Horton.  The breakdown on my team is as follows:KVD - With a 3rd & a 1st last two June events on KY Lake, he is a lock.Matt Herren - For the money probably on my roster until the bitter end, should have a so...

Kentucky Freezes, Does Obama Care?

Millions are without power in Kentucky, forty-three are dead.Ā Ā  Does Barack Obama care?Ā  Is Obama even vaguely aware of the situation? More, Anchoress Addendum: (Bit) So much for global warming. And where is FEMA? Bob McCarty writes: Five days after being hit by the storm, more than one million Americans in the Midwest are without power, socked in by snow and ice.Ā  Reports of fresh water being in short supply and power outages that may last for weeks has many in the region fearful.Ā  And citizens are growing frustrated, according to an Associated Press report today: Local officials grew angrier at what they said was a lack of help from the state and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. How can that be in this era of hope and change? After all, isn’t this the same crew that screamed bloody murder over NOLA, and FEMA’s supposedly slow response there?
