Census worker killed in rural Kentucky
2009-09-25 03:01:00
Bill Sparkman, who worked for the Census Bureau, was killed in a remote part of Kentucky after being warned of the area’s isolated and anti-government residents. Reports say that he was found dead with the word, “Fed,” carved into his chest. I will never understand the hatred people feel for our government. Corporations have done more to ...
Defense Saves the Day: Indiana Hangs On, Beats Eastern Kentucky 19-13
2009-09-07 04:05:00
Thank goodness for experience. The veteran Hoosiers defense, which gave up more than 35 points per game last season, allowed just one touchdown, forced a crucial fumble, sacked the quarterback four times and had a safety to lead the Hoosiers to season opening win in renovated Memorial Stadium. Though the win certainly wasn't pretty, there were signs of encouragement. New starting quarterback Ben Chappell was solid throwing 27 of 36 for a career-high 326 yards with one touchdown and receiver Tandon Doss also caught eight passes for 125 yards, a career-high. But, Bill Lynch's revamped offense failed to run the ball with any consistency, something that has been a point of emphasis in the offseason....

Congratulations to Shawn Holt from Princeton, KY!  He was the highest scoring member of my Bassin' Blog group for FLW Fantasy Fishing that did not win an FLW prize.Brief email interview with Shawn and this is what he had to say on his strategy:"I live near KY & Barkley Lakes and I did pick 4 locals & only one (David Young) made the top ten.  I picked Larry Nixon because I remember he did quite well on KY Lake in a BASS tournament back in the mid 90?s, I felt good about his chances to find some fish.  The other two of my picks that made the top ten (Keith Williams & Mark Rose) were made based on tips from Players Advantage."For Shawn's efforts, he has won a 9/16oz Citrus Shad Secret Weapon Lure QuickStrike Spinnerbait and will get a 30% off promo code to order anything he wants in the Secret Weapon Armory! I am sure Shawn will catch plenty of bass with this great spinnerbait!  Thanks to Secret Weapon Lures for helping out wi...

Setting an ESPN Fantasy Fishing Line-up for Kentucky Lake
2009-06-10 12:23:00
The Mississippi River is one of the great bass fisheries in this country, but this particular section (Fort Madison) I think is under a little bit of hard times from last year's flodding.  This time of year, fish should be really starting to gang up in pads and eel grass edges, but from the sounds of it, not much of it has grown back from last summer.  So if you can find some good stretches, they could be loaded, but also very crowded.  A strong wood flipping bite could play as well.  Either way, its nice to see the Elites visit the upper midwest for a change, should be a very exciting tournament, they will catch plenty of fish.  Look for Swimming Jigs to be a big player here.I am making some fairly serious changes this week to try to make some big moves, Alton Jones had to go, he was just too safe. Here are a few guys that I think would be solid fantasy fishing picks that are not on my team.  Chris Lane, Tommy Biffle, Iaconelli and Jami ...
Setting an ESPN Fantasy Fishing Line-up for Kentucky Lake
2009-06-03 03:01:00
Kentucky Lake is one of the great bass fisheries in this country.  This time of year, fish should be really starting to stack up on ledges.  Sounds like water levels have dropped, so flipping bushes probably won't play much, but you never know.By the way, you need to get it in by tomorrow 8am central, this tournament actually starts on a Wednesday and ends on Saturday to allow travel time to Iowa next week.  The next 3 events Kentucky Lake, Mississippi River, & Lake Oneida are all vastly different fisheries, so trying to set your lineup to fit all 3 may be a bit of a challenge. Here are a few guys that I think would be solid fantasy fishing picks that are not on my team.  Kelly Jor-dan, Kevin Wirth, Edwin Evers & Timmy Horton.  The breakdown on my team is as follows:KVD - With a 3rd & a 1st last two June events on KY Lake, he is a lock.Matt Herren - For the money probably on my roster until the bitter end, should have a so...

Kentucky Freezes, Does Obama Care?
2009-02-01 01:43:00
Millions are without power in Kentucky, forty-three are dead.   Does Barack Obama care?  Is Obama even vaguely aware of the situation? More, Anchoress Addendum: (Bit) So much for global warming. And where is FEMA? Bob McCarty writes: Five days after being hit by the storm, more than one million Americans in the Midwest are without power, socked in by snow and ice.  Reports of fresh water being in short supply and power outages that may last for weeks has many in the region fearful.  And citizens are growing frustrated, according to an Associated Press report today: Local officials grew angrier at what they said was a lack of help from the state and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. How can that be in this era of hope and change? After all, isn’t this the same crew that screamed bloody murder over NOLA, and FEMA’s supposedly slow response there? Funny, what happens when they’re faced with reality. BitsBlog Tags: Barack Obama, kentuck, anchoress, powr ...

2008-06-04 06:46:00
So, I’ve already analyzed Obama’s speech which was given shortly after Clinton’s following speech.  She had been expected to suspend her campaign and acknowledge that Obama had reached the “magic number,” but not actually concede, but she didn’t even do that.  She just said, “I’ll talk it over and decide later” essentially.  Here’s the speech: Thank you. MN, KY General Election Polls
2008-05-27 05:35:00
Two polls I will like to point out today, one from Minnesota and the other from Kentucky. Both of which surprised me.MinnesotaMcCain: 38%Obama: 53%McCain: 38%Obama: 53%Over the last year, Minnesota has been in the battleground column and probably still is, however, in the last one or two months, polls have suggested that Minnesota may be lean or even likely Democratic this year. McCain has extraordinary strength in the Great Lakes region, particularly Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. Polls in the later two states suggest he can win. With recent polls suggesting that Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty may not be a strong Vice Presidential pick against an Obama match-up (here) , one has to wonder if Pawlenty is a smart choice for McCain. It is my personal belief that the Vice Presidential nominee should NEVER be picked based on moving a state from one column to the next or solely based on geography. Perhaps McCain's meeting with possible Vice Presidential contenders, Jindal, Romney an...
