Really Cito, Kevin Millar bats fourth?
2009-08-05 19:14:00
Really Cito, Kevin Millar bats fourth? Disgusted. That’s the only word I can use for how I felt after I read the Jays lineup for last nights game vs the Yankees. Millar batting fourth!? Here’s a screen Cap of Millar’s success…. let’s say Millar’s appearances in the various batting order positions. A total of 16 games in the ...
J.P.?s Used Car Lot: Kevin Millar
2009-03-19 15:29:00
J.P.’s Used Car Lot: Kevin Millar I’ve seen a few articles and notes from Jays bloggers, beat writers and in various message boards about the final few spots on the Jays 25 man roster. One point of contention continues to be whether or not the Jays should keep Jose Bautista. My quesiton is why in the ...
Kevin Millar Visits the ESPN Zone; August, 26th
2008-09-04 01:31:00
ESPN Zone's season-long Orioles took place on Aug. 26th, and fan favorite Kevin Millar held his second Q&A at the restaurant. Legendary Maryland broadcaster Tom Davis will hosted the afternoon event, which included an autograph signings and tons of giveaways last Tuesday. As always, Kevin was so funny and entertaining, and even belting opening tune of Orioles Magic and part of his at-bat music. The first baseman/designated hitter talked about wanting to play a few more years in the sport and about how much he loves being in Baltimore. As well, he talked about how the Orioles Magic video came life and talked about the great team camaraderie he has experienced this season. Millar also answered questions about his changing hairstyles, the origin of his nicknames, his friendship with Kenny Chesney, and also more serious topics like the team's need for more starting pitching. He talked as well about his favorite baseball moments, and the importance of playing team baseball. In the end, i...

Kevin Millar Is The Balls - Part Deux
2008-03-18 05:00:00
First, Kevin Millar shows up on the FOX broadcast of the ALCS Game 5 telling the Boston Red Sox to “Cowboy Up”, a phrase heard during the 2003 playoffs and 2004 season. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-a84BrIfKbtw Then Millar is asked by the Red Sox to throw out the first pitch in Game 7 of the ALCS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yHjCnaxR8J0 Find out what Millar did this time after the jump. And now NESN gets him to play Nine Innings. At least this time he talks about his own team, the Baltimore Orioles. (Please open the article to see the flash file or player.) I’d love to see Millar up in the booth. Something tells me that when his playing career is done, he will be working with the Red Sox in some capacity, whether it be front office, coach or in the broadcast booth.
Kevin Millar vs. Ryan Dempster is not Rollins vs. Beltran (Yahoo! Sports)

First Ryan Dempster predicted a World Series for the Cubs. Then Kevin Millar said the Orioles would end that… Read the full story.
Rangers Rumors: DeJesus, Lamb, Millar
2007-11-04 04:42:00
Evan Grant writes for the Dallas Morning News, but he posted this column at night.  Go figure.  He's got some new info regarding the Rangers. As you know, the Rangers have had difficulty finding a long-term center fielder.  That's the main focus of this offseason.  The team has already shown interest in Torii Hunter and Aaron Rowand, the top center fielders available.  Other free agents such as Andruw Jones and Mike Cameron appear to be in play as well.  Grant's trade candidates: Coco Crisp, David DeJesus, Mark Kotsay, and Carlos Beltran.  We've speculated on DeJesus to Atlanta in the past.  With DeJesus signed cheaply through 2011 and the market at the position robust this winter, it might make sense for Dayton Moore to wait a year to shop him aggressively. Grant adds that Jon Daniels is considering some affordable options for first base.  They've already talked to Mike Lamb's agent and like Kevin Millar as well.  Lamb came up...
Oriole Fans Are Very Pissed at Kevin Millar
2007-10-23 14:09:00
Well, on the blogosphere, the internet and on talk radio, the whole issue of Kevin Millar taking part in the ALCS for the Red Sox seemed to be a bit much to swallow for the vast majority of Baltimore Orioles fans. I can see why fans are upset, but honestly, I think the Orioles have far more to worry about than a player acting as a quasi-cheerleader for another team. It's gotten so ugly that fans are demanding Millar get released and also are taking shots at Orioles Chief Operating Officer, Andy MacPhail for approving Millar's participation in the ALCS.Personally, I think it's not a big deal -- we are talking about a guy who has been average with the Orioles for the past several seasons; however, the way I have seen people react, it would be akin to Cal Ripken deciding to sever ties with the Orioles. When it is all said and done, his legacy (if he has one), will be with part of the Red Sox, and Baltimore would serve as a stop in the final legs of his career.I know we would like to t...
Oriole Fans Pissed at Kevin Millar...
2007-10-22 23:58:00
Kevin, I really didn't care what you did last weekend; but boy, you have pissed off a lot of people who root for the Orioles. Francona's response was priceless, although the vats majority of fans on the net who root for Baltimore are none too pleased. For those who missed it, or have no idea what has been chatted about - here we go. I had not seen the coverage from NESN until now, but he seems to be relishing it and he used the word "we" a few times. Hmmm.Guess his heart still has not really left the Red Sox.Videos below...
Kevin Millar: In Bad Taste?; What is the Worth of the Orioles?
2007-10-22 16:52:00
We, as fans always wants to believe our athletes are loyal to our region and us, not only because of the money and emotional investment put forth, but because sports reinforces regional pride and esteem.Well, Kevin Millar has put athlete loyalty and the team they play for to the test.I mentioned the contribution of Millar towards the Red Sox and his TV spot in game six of the ALCS, and he throwing out the first pitch in game seven. While some agreed with what I posted online yesterday here and on Oriole Magic, if you span the rest of the Oriole blogs, forums and websites, fans are not happy at all with Millar's antics.By far, the most vocal of fans have been at Orioles Hangout discussing the issue; however, I am far more concerned with what Millar does on the field and in an Oriole uniform than I am with some stuff he does with the Red Sox in the post-season. Millar, I think likes Baltimore, but has no real ties to here, and it is obvious to me, he has a lot of affection towards the...
Kevin Millar and the Red Sox...
2007-10-22 02:23:00
For all the Oriole fans out there, I am opening up the floor -- does anyone have a problem Kevin Millar appearing on Fox rooting and rallying on the Red Sox in a sport before Game Six? Furthermore, does anyone have a problem with him appearing before Game Seven throwing out the first pitch when he is a current Oriole?Me, I don't have a problem; however, some might. I think it's a good thing that the Red Sox organization have the doors wide open for Kevin (to an extent) and there seems to be no bitterness on his part. Considering his significance in Red Sox history in the past decade, I guess it is somewhat appropriate. The floor is yours.
Kevin Millar is the Balls
2007-10-19 19:15:00
Even though he’s not playing for the Red Sox anymore, Kevin Millar is still rooting for them. He brings back the famous rally cry from 2004 before last night’s ALCS Game 5 on FOX. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-a84BrIfKbtw And if you missed what happened last night between Josh Beckett and Kenny Lofton, here is the video of that and the ...
You Have to Love Kevin Millar
2007-09-01 07:30:00
Back when he played in Boston, Kevin Millar was always a fan favorite. During last night’s Red Sox/Orioles game, he showed why. On a 1-1 count in the 7th, Eric Hinske hit a ball down the 1st base line that was going towards the stands. Millar and Brian Roberts were both running to the ball and ...
Video of Kevin Millar and Amber Theoharis Being Dosed with Gatorade...
2007-08-16 03:59:00
81207MillarHRUploaded by gatecitycanesOk, I am a little late in finding this video and posting it online; however, thanks to file-sharing and video here's the Kevin Millar post-game interview where he's dosed with Gatorade along with Amber Theoharis. This took place after his game-winning homer on Sunday where the O's defeated the Boston Red Sox.Paul Bako and Tike Redman were behind the ambush. It's quite funny to see, as while Kevin Millar has a sense of humor about it, Amber Theoharis handles the whole thing professionally, but does not look at all pleased.Kevin got to at least change, I am not so sure about Amber.I usually try my best to get photos of when stuff like this happens, but I was on the other side of the stadium when this took place.A special thanks to *gatecitycanes* for the video...
Kevin Millar Gets Revenge Against Red Sox; O's Beat Them 6-3, Rundown...
2007-08-13 16:38:00
Boston Red Sox va. Baltimore Orioles; August 12th, 2007What a win, what a win.The Orioles capped off an incredible weekend by taking two out of three from the Red Sox, and as well having two come from behind wins in the series.Kevin Millar hit a three-run game-winning homer for the Orange and Black to win 6-3. It was a great feeling shutting the Red Sox fans up and we walking out of the park with a dramatic win.I'll say this now, in light of the losing, this might be the best Baltimore team in a decade. Under Trembley, this team has a lot of fight in them and they'll battle until the very end.Let's give a special thanks to Greg Gagne, because without him, the story might be different. He imploded Friday and gave up a two run bomb to Miguel Tejada in the eighth inning to tie the score. So much for the big trading deadline acquisition, eh?With the Orioles full of confidence right now, they head to New York to face the red hot Yankees and then onto Toronto. If the O's can take 4 out ...
How About Kevin Millar?
2007-07-16 18:14:00
One player who hasn't gotten much play here at MLBTR is 36 year-old 1B/DH Kevin Millar.  He's up to a solid .282/.399/.462 on the season, including a 1.063 OPS this month.  Millar might be one of the few players who exhibits a consistent second half trend.  He's been significantly better after the break in 2004, 2005, and 2006. Millar has a mere $1.2MM left on his contract this year.  His $2.75MM option for '08 becomes guaranteed with 475 plate appearances, and he's on pace for about 500 right now.  He'll probably pass the 130 game threshold, bringing his '08 salary to $3.05MM.  Very affordable for solid production and clubhouse presence. The Yankees would be a logical destination for Millar.  Sean Casey has come alive since a terrible April, so the Tigers probably wouldn't be interested.  The Twins would be a fine fit at DH.  Angels or Mariners too.  Over in the NL Millar could help the Braves or Diamondbacks at first base.&...
From the Archives: Kevin Millar Giving Love to Paul Bako with Erik Bedard
2007-05-29 17:42:00
(click to see the large image...)Sorry, I found this the other day in my archives while compiling an upcoming gallery of pictures to be posted on this blog. I was at Yankee Stadium on a freezing Sunday when I got a chance to snap this picture. As we all know, Kevin Millar is a fun loving guy, and as they were walking to the dugout, he decided to show Paul Bako, the Orioles backup catcher some love. In the image, you also see pitcher Erik Bedard accompanying them.
Kevin Millar at the ESPN Zone in Baltimore this Afternoon: Photos and Impre
2007-05-24 22:28:00
Kevin Millar was at the ESPN Zone this afternoon in Downtown Baltimore at the Inner Harbor and about 150-200 fans took out a moment of their afternoon to hear him talk about the state of the team, his career as well answer questions from loyal Oriole fans. Local sports personality, Tom Davis served as the mediator for the event. I really didn?t take any notes on what he said partly because I arrived late, and by the time I got there, it was standing room only. Fans had the opportunity to win free tickets to Orioles games by answering trivia about Millar and about the Orioles. My impression of Kevin Millar from afar is that in light of the drama, or perhaps turmoil going on with the Baltimore Orioles, he seems to be very personable, positive, insightful about the sport and very down to earth when dealing with the fans. Although he may be regulated to part-time duty for now, Millar is one of my favorite Orioles due to his attitude, personality and love for the game. Note:...

Kevin Millar: Foot Okay, But Arm a Little Sore
2007-03-11 19:04:00
Kevin Millar: Though Millar (bruised foot) says his foot feels much better, he remains out of the Orioles' spring lineup and won't play Sunday because of some soreness in his right forearm/elbow area, the Baltimore Sun reports. "We want to get everything calmed down, so we'll give him a couple days and then shoot him back in there," manager Sam Perlozzo said. Visit RotoWire.com for more analysis on this update.
