On the banks of the river Nore, rise the castles and cathedrals of Kilkenny, Ireland. Its narrow, winding roads weave the magic of medieval times with antediluvian edifices.

Kilkenny a Penalty Kick
2007-08-30 10:52:00
Q. What odds is a player to score when he steps up to take a penalty? A. 2/9 Q. What odds are Kilkenny to beat Limerick on Sunday? A. See above Kilkenny are the shortest priced favourites in an All Ireland Hurling final that I can remember. Even money about Kilkenny to win by more than 6 points is picking up money. They can rack up huge scores in no time at all. We’ve seen countless examples of games that have been nip and tuck with 10 minutes to go and Kilkenny end up winning easy. As for first goalscorer, Eoin Larkin is a massive price at 14/1. Limerick will come with a plan to blunt the likes of Shefflin and Comerford but Larkin will slip under the radar. He’s the type of younger player who can make his stamp on this final the way Aidan Fogarty did last year. Is it all doom and gloom for Limerick? I fear the answer is yes.

Wednesday, August 19, 1998 I woke up this morning with a plan, check out and grab a train to Kilkenny. I hadn’t looked at the train schedule, so I went at it blindly. I made the train about five minutes before it left. They didn’t even stamp my Eurorail pass. This means lots of train ...

On Wednesday we were still in Blarney (County Cork) and the castle looked at ourselves and I the famous Blarney stone kissed there, which was to lend eloquence. On Thursday Johannes and dad were invited and we before still with my Gatsvater in the Fota Wildlife park were at my Gastfamilie to the meal. The main attraction of the daily was probably Nintendo Wii. On Friday we drove then mrgens to Kilkenny and the lock regarded and on the next day continued to go there it to Dublin. Since Johannes and dad wanted to rest themselves only times, I went alone to the pc. Patrick Cathedral and Christ Church Cathedral as well as into the lock from Dublin. Waterford on the Double

What a day for both the hurlers and camogie players of Waterford. Our hurlers won the National Hurling League title for the first time since 1963 beating Kilkenny on a scoreline of Waterford 0 - 20 Kilkenny 0- 18. Also our Camogie team won their title by defeating Down by 2 points in another exciting match. Well done to both teams. This was an extraordinary day for all of those associated with both hurling and camogie in the county.
Ireland?s Kilkenny

No doubt if you have traveled to or plan to travel to Ireland, you have either marked or been told to mark the Guinness Brewery in Dublin as one of the top destinations for your trip. But I?ve always wondered, ?What if you don?t like Guinness?? I know, it seems wrong to admit it, but it?s true: I just don?t like the heavy Guinness stout. I want to like it, I should like it, but I just don?t. Imagine my utter joy, then, when I discovered Kilkenny beer, the non-stout nitrogenated beer. Kilkenny beer comes from its namesake city, located about 90 miles south-west of Dublin, and is an Irish cream ale brewed by Diageo. Diageo?s Kilkenny brewery is in St. Francis Abbey, Ireland?s oldest operating brewery situated on the site of a Franciscan Abbey founded in 1231. The St. Francis Abbey brewery produces hundreds of kegs of Cashels cider, Smithwick?s and Kilkenny ales every hour, as well as producing Budweiser beer for the Irish market. For me, Kilkenny ale is a superb and stunning beer and...
Where have you gone, Steve Kilkenny?

I'm always sad when I read headlines like this: "Honus Wagner card sold for record-setting $2.35 million." I can only think about all the cards I sold to pay the rent in college, all those cardboard Aarons, Mays, Clementes, Mantles and Roses sold off for another couple of months in a dingy apartment or for a few more credits at the community college. (As if education is as important as pictures of childhood heroes.)Collecting those cards were some of the best times of my life. I learned to negotiate by trading with the neighborhood kids, gladly handing over the Mets' Rusty Staub and Cleon Jones for the likes of Steve Carlton, Harmon Killebrew or Bobby Murcer. I learned to organize by putting cards in order both by team and by numbers, depending on my mood. And I also learned to finish what I started by trading for even the most obscure players (like Cleveland Indians pitcher Steve Kilkenny) because I needed a complete set in 1972.I also pored over statistics on the back of these c...
