While in Punjab and Delhi, the figure touches 32 per cent, in Muzaffarnagar, the worst affected district of Uttar Pradesh, 25 per cent honour killings have been reported so far. As mentioned in the source article, honour killings among Hindus often happen because of caste discrimination. One recent example is the case of a 19-year-old girl who was thrown into a canal by her father and some other male members of her family when she fell in love with a boy of a lower caste.
