But American parents especially may wish to study up on the possible candidates. After all, if Obama's campaign proposals are to be fulfilled, Margaret Spellings' successor could oversee a dramatic $18 billion overhaul of the nation's public education system over the next few years.Whoever gets the spot, Obama's new Ed chief should expect to face a huge test right off in the contentious reauthorization of the federal No Child Left Behind act, considered to be one of the first priorities in Congress come January. Down the road, he or she can also plan to direct the founding of hundreds of new charter schools and the spread of universal pre-K nationwide, as well as a continued focus on increased accountability and a better trained teacher ...

Another week in Kingsbury
2008-04-20 23:59:00 Another week has passed, and it's been a collection of random events, from taking photos in Tottenham (mainly for the postcodes from road signs for a group) to meeting an online friend who was passing through on his way back to Nigeria yesterday.I went to a local photo shop of historical pictures to try and sell my albums, and they said they needed to be wholesaled, costing me about £2000 so I didn't bother. It would take most of my life to sell that many by hand like the first lot I did in 1995 which took me over a year and hundreds of miles. One more route eliminated. I also saw the results of the garden photography competition which weren't that different to a couple I entered. How they choose I can't tell but I'm not far off the requirements in comparison.I've also done heaps more research on global warming simply because more facts are being released every week now. It's impossible to accept there's an issue at all anymore, the evidence has totally fallen apart and new ...

2008-02-02 02:41:00 I don't usually enjoy reading Christian fiction. Probably because I'm not Christian. But I have to admit, I enjoyed Between Sundays! It can be considered as a general inspirational novel, as well as a specifically Christian novel.The story follows the lives of four individuals. In the center of the story is eight-year-old Cory. Two years ago, he watched his mother die of pneumonia in front of them. He then went to live with his mother's good friend, Megan, who has dedicated her life to raising him. Cory has never met his father, but when she was alive, his mother told Cory who his father was, and promised the boy would meet him someday. And Cory knows his mother never lies! Megan, Cory's foster mother, wants nothing more than to adopt Cory. A former foster child, she is sure she was put into Cory's mother's life specifically so she could be there to save Cory from growing up in foster care. Megan has made many sacrifices in order to give Cory the best life possible... not easy...

It comes from the recent community meeting on December 10th about closing Kingsbury Middle School. We have spent weeks on this article. There was much for us to learn. We hope we got it right, and that we found some balance between fair play and reason. We trust it will so spring forth. We realize potential exists for people to read this and form opinion from it, or of it, and opinion will range from agreement to none. We have done our best to express the positions of both sides. In so doing, however, we realize it is easy for one see how we feel, which is it is premature to close Kinbsbury Middle School at this time.
