Bang Bang in Da Manor screening leads to debate on gun and knife crime
2012-02-04 13:58:00 By J L Samboma Britain’s black community must look inward rather than to the wider society for solutions to the increasing black-on-black gun and knife culture and its growing toll on young lives, according to parents, young people and community activists at the recent screening of Bang Bang in Da Manor, a film on the subject. The screening was organised by A Just Movement for African Unity (AJAMU) and the OMEGA Foundation Society. Speaking after the documentary show, which took place at the Park View Learning Centre in north London, one concerned parent* said: “We have to take a hard look within ourselves. We are catastrophically failing our young people.”

I asked myself this question this morning when Alex wanted to help me make Bacon and Eggs. His interest in cooking with me has picked up in the last month or so and he is asking me every time I cook if he can help. This morning I taught him how to use one of my chefs knives. I was nervous, as any mother would be. But he took it all very seriously. I showed him how to hold it, where the sharp bits are and how to carry it. I explained to him about how we clean up after cutting any meat and he washed his own knife and cutting board, under my supervision of course. He really surprised me. At 5 years old there are so many things his little hands can't coordinate yet, but he was quite skilled using a knife. So I I will be introducing him to allot more things in the kitchen from now on. 2009-07-17 21:21:00 I was able to get up to Knife Lake on Friday night for about 3 hours to scout the lake for my tournament that was on Sunday, prior to that I had never been on the lake. I did catch a few fish, but nothing bigger then about 2lbs, learned my way around the lake anyways. Because of some last minute adjustments, I ended up fishing alone in this tournament and there for was last boat to take off. So I decided to just start by the landing. After working the shallows with buzzbaits, frogs, jigs and a chatterbait, I decided to toss my Carolina Rig out from one of the small points, it did not take long to put a nice solid keeper in the boat on a ring fry.
