Google Boosts Search Intelligence With Knowledge Graph
2012-05-18 06:30:00
I had come across an interesting comparison some time back when I read that the supposedly benign Google had an intelligence level of a baboon. Depending on how you view a glass containing a certain amount of water, you could say that this is pretty cool or frightening. Google Search converted us, Internet users, into Information junkies who had an easy access to whatever they wanted to search in the whole wide world. The fact that Google’s primate intelligence was not really enough sometimes because search keywords were not able to zero in on the right word, place or context was a little troubling but we all accepted that this was the best technology could offer. That is changing from now on! Source: Google   Google today announced the next biggest thing in Search and it is called the Knowledge Graph. The knowledge graph is ambitious project which aims at eliminating the errors in context based results and ultimately hold a total repository of knowledge, just like what Wikip...

ODB Biopic Requires 'A Lot Of Knowledge,' Michael K. Williams Says
2012-05-11 16:43:00
'I've got a lot of insight into who he was as a human being and as a man and, dare I say it, scholar,' actor tells MTV News.Kara Warner By Kara Warner ODB and Michael K. Williams Photo: Getty Images Crafting the perfect Hollywood biopic is often very tricky business. More often than not, you are dealing with the legacy of a star who passed away too soon, the emotional impact a big-screen adaptation might have on the subject's family, as well as casting the perfect actor to bring an iconic individual to life. The filmmakers behind the Ol' Dirty Bastard biopic "Dirty White Boy" are off to a very positive start with their film in that they have enlisted celebrated and very capable actor Michael K. Williams to tackle the title role. MTV News recently caught up with Williams, most well-known for his roles as Chalky White on "Boardwalk Empire" and the haunting, shotgun-toting Omar Little on "The Wire," and Williams had a lot to say about the research and groundwork he's p...

Gretchen Menn: gives inside knowledge on which planes to fly!
2012-03-31 02:17:00
World of Flying: This is one question I have always wanted to ask a professional musician...when you have to fly commercial airlines to a gig, how to you ship/transport your equipment? Gretchen Menn: Oh, I could really go off here. I have a major issue with how the airlines deal with musical equipment, and I've made many a phone call to tell different airlines that whichever airline would implement an instrument-friendly policy would have a stranglehold on musicians as customers. Even with crew tags on my guitar, I found my case horribly abused after one flight on my own airline! So, I make it a point to fly Southwest, as their 737s have plenty of room in the overheads for a guitar. I make it a point to be in the A boarding group, and to never, never be rude to a gate agent or flight attendant. They are the people who determine whether you get to carry on your precious instrument. I also have good cases in the event of the horror, the horror of having to check something, and insura...

Fabrizio Leo: five star review from Shred Knowledge
2011-12-26 17:45:00
Yep! He's definitely got the Satch motifs, Vai whammy-type phrasing, Becker sweeps, Howe runs, and lastly Gambale's legato. Fabrizio showcases that he?s capable of playing songs while not over doing the impeccably played shredding parts. The construction of the songs are intricate, fun and again definitely mind bending at times ala Steve Vai and they provide Fabrizio with a solid base to show his talents as a formidable guitar player. This New Album represents the ultimate state of art of instrumental guitar oriented music... Get you copy today !!! more

THE INTERVIEW with Mike Campese Shred Knowledge - Hey Mike What's up my man? Hey bro! Great to hear from ya!! Mike Campese - Hey man! How's it going! Great to hear from you too! Shred Knowledge - I was checkin' out your MySpace and New Offical Website page and I like what I see & hear? Tell us about your New Album Electric City. Mike Campese - Yes, "Electric City" is my latest Cd, it is my 7th solo album. "Electric City" is defiantly a little heavier and more shredding than my previous releases. There is a lot of melodic stuff as well, I like to mix it up and make each Cd different from another. Shred Knowledge - I also hear some kool musical influences too. Give our readers an idea of what you were listening to growing up thru high school and beyond? Mike Campese - My first main influence was Black Sabbath. I was also into Dio, Ozzy, Al Di meola etc. As I was progressing as a guitarist I started getting into classical music and I was really into Paganini. I really like vio...

Mike Campese Interview for Shred Knowledge (Scott Thomas): Mike Campese - I have met many, many famous musicians over the years. Some are down to earth and some are not. I noticed some of the greatest musicians are the most down to earth. I would have to say meeting Ronnie Dio or Eric Johnson was a great experience for me. They are both the nicest people, Ronnie James Dio gave me a big hug when we met and was real nice. I remember when I met Eric Johnson a while ago back stage and I started walking towards him and he saw me and walked over to me and we were talking for a while. He was really interested what I had to say about his performance and his tone. He kept asking me questions about his sound like my opinion mattered. The point of this is, these guys are open to the people and are down to earth. That is a big reason why they are so great, I'm sure Jimi Hendrix would be the same way if I was around to meet him. more

To begin, tell us a bit about your music roots, & how old were you when you picked up the guitar? PA: My roots in music come from India. I studied Tabla for many years and then started playing guitar when I turned 13. 2) I'm a big fan of your 2d album "Duality". "Sonically speaking" has a real different vibe, really Intimate music, less speed, I sense I'm listening to Radiohead sometimes! Where does that ambiance come from? PA: Sonically Speaking was my first solo album that I self produced. I was going for a real polished sound on this album. I listen to a lot of ethereal music and the influence. I recently started listening to Radiohead. Great band. more

you seem like your heavy metal mate , your tracks are real hard , tell us about your influences and about shredguy records your label. I love metal, all forms- speed, thrash, death, Black, traditional, neoclassical! My influences started with Jimmy Page and eventually Yngwie and tons of the great speed/thrash of the 80's, specifically Slayer, Kreator, Destruction, Celtic Frost, Venom, Mercyful Fate and Bathory. All I can say about Shredguy Records is it's a damn good label and I'm proud of my affiliation with them, they really are getting the music out there. 2 what albums are out with shredguy or comming up in the near future for you mate? I have one physical cd "THE CAMPAIGN" and a compilation available through download only (for now) called "Archives of Magick". I am starting the demo process for the follow up to my first album for them, due out in late 2011 or early 2012. more

1. How did you enjoy NAMM 2011, what cool stuff stood out? a. Gosh! That is actually a tricky question to answer because most of the time I was working and didn't get as much time to look around as I would have liked ? plus, the place is huge! However, the amps I was demonstrating - The Hayden High-gain 20 and 40 are really, really good... I have done a lot of R&Dwork recently with the company - helping to test them and 'voice' them properly etc....They got an amazing response from everyone that heard them that's for sure! Other than that, I saw some great new guitars on the PRS stand and also heard on the grapevine about a digital pick-up selector that allows you to have all the possible switching options - if it works that would be amazing as it could potentially make the 3 and 5 way switches we all currently use a thing of the past! 2. You have played a PRS Guitar for as long as I've known you, you must have been offered endorsements a lot? a. Yes, there has been a few d...

BRETT Ive used a guitar made by Soundworks here in Australia which I used on some of the early Nelson vids. I used my Steinberger GS on the "Rock Fusion" video and then used my ESP Horizon Custom on the "Rock Improvisation" dvd. I pretty much play that guitar constantly. I'd like to do another dvd focusing on improvisation over changes but to be honest, people like Scott Henderson and Frank Gamable have already done brilliant dvd's about that very subject and are much more qualified to talk about it anyway. MARK I saw you do a clinic and you used a real cheap amp and still sounded cool , whats your thoughts on valves and transisters? BRETT I really like valve amps because of the way they respond dynamically but hopefully I can pull a half decent tone out of anything. It's just easier with a good tube amp. more

1. Michael you hold a number of masterclass's ,what can a student expect from this , hows that going and do you have many sponsors for that? I've got a good run of the master classes happening at the moment, with more on the way .I feel really excited about meeting other guitarists and sharing my thoughts and approach with them. They'll be definitely be seeing my concepts and approach covering arpeggios, melodic minor ideas, wide pentatonic ideas legato lines etc ..and all of it is in simple form. Originally when I decided I was going to conduct these classes ,I always wanted to make sure that I give the players my honest approach without the theory i,e ideas they can relate to simple and effective, and at the same time making it there own . I have to mention the shops I'm doing the master classes in, cause they're giving up there time after hours to do this for me and a big thankyou to Carl at xotic Australia for lending a hand and treating me to fantastic pedals . more MICHAEL...

Dave Celentano, Daniele Gottardo: DG interviews DC for shred knowledge
2010-10-18 19:01:00
Gotty When did you start playing using the 8 fingers tapping technique and why? Dave Celentano I started using multi-finger tapping after seeing Edward Van Halen play his guitar proped up like a keyboard. Also, seeing Jeff Watson's (Night Ranger) live guitar solo. Tapping came real easy to me so I developed it and pushed the technique as far as I could go. Mike Varney put me in Guitar Player Spotlight column of May 1991, for my tapping technique. Gotty You were the first guitarist that I saw playing with the hair-slide on the guitar and this is not very appreciated from a lot of guitar players. They think that if you use it, it's like you make trickery. What can you tell to them? Dave Celentano Many guitarists like Greg Howe, Dave Martone, and yourself, use the "hair tie" to mute strings. Same goes for the string dampening device Jennifer Batten and Michael Angelo Batio use. They are all amazing players and I don't think using the hair tie or string muting device takes away from ...

You recently went to Tom Quayle and Rick Grahams masterclass , it looked awsome , tell sk about the experience ? Man, the masterclass was unbelievably good. Tom and Rick are the best of the best, when it comes to both playing and teaching. Not to mention they're such nice guys. The content covered was huge, from Limitation exercises right the way through to advanced approaches to improvisation. Everyone really enjoyed the whole experience, and it's great to come back with a disc full of backing tracks and all the things covered in the masterclass. I've got a practice routine that i really need to complete... although it might take me 12 million years due to the amount of things they covered. I'd certainly suggest it to anyone who's been thinking about going. I'm sure they'll be holding another one next year. It's a great oppurtunity to meet other players, learn off two of the best players about, and have a generally great time. more

One issue which he focused on was the decline in knowledge about the faith. His remarks were quite startling. They seem to echo what has been said in other conferences, media and events, not only in the United States but also in the United Kingdom and other parts of Europe. He said: "[W]e now have two generations of Catholics who have been significantly under-catechized in their own faith. Michael Dolce: shed knowledge new album reviewed
2010-10-03 12:27:00
This album has more to offer than you'd expect if you didn't know Michael's reputation for good music. It satisfies the listener in orchestration , instrumental resource , tones and variance , cool guitar chops , compositional expertise , evoking emotion and feeling to the listener and hearing the emotions coming from the guitarist plus variety . I would buy this and I have it in my top section of my collection. I have been listening to it since it dropped in my door two days ago and I have no problem in recommending it to anyone who likes to hear both guitar excellence and wants to be moved by the whole vibe and movement of the songs. This is an instrumental album and it will make the hairs on the back of your neck stick up on end, what more could you want than a music buzz? and you will get one with this album . Full review
