2008-01-31 17:13:00 Koh Phangan whilst still a beautiful and tropical paradise Island is probably more renowned for the party scene and in particular the Full Moon Party that is pretty much a monthly occurrence. However, the parties do not stop at the Full Moon! There are half-moon and black-moon parties to keep the party scene moving and to keep Koh Phangan's reputation of a party paradise. The Full Moon parties actually started by chance back in 1989 on Haad Rin beach when a local resident decided to throw a birthday party for an Australian friend of his. By chance, this birthday fell on a night of a Full Moon and was attended by about 50-people who spent the night dancing around beach camp fires and partying until the early hours of the morning. It was agreed that the Full Moon had somehow turned this party into much more than just another birthday party!
