Kuyt Hat-Trick Sinks United
2011-03-06 17:20:00
Manchester United's week has gone from bad to worse after a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Liverpool at Anfield. Man United Squad: Starting Line-Up: Van der Sar, Rafael Da Silva, Smalling, Brown, Evra, Nani, Carrick, Scholes, Giggs, Berbatov and Rooney. Substitutes: Kuszczak, Hernandez, Fabio, O'Shea, Fletcher, Obertan, Gibson. The Game: Liverpool put Man United under pressure from very early on, Raul Meireles cross found Luis Suarez, who was unable to collect the ball and Edwin Van Der Sar collected. Maxi Rodriguez also had an early effort but he dragged his shot well wide. Man United started to settle down more, just after 15 minutes Dimitar Berbatov's 25 strike hit the outside of Pepe Reina's post. That was immediately followed by another chance for Liverpool, Suarez' ball into the box was nodded back in front of goal by Meireles but Dirk Kuyt was unable to get onto the end it. Liverpool had their first goal in the 34th minute. Suarez beat Rafael Da Silva, Michael Ca...

KUYT: WE NEED TO KEEP WINNING
2007-12-24 15:24:00
Steve Hunter 24 December 2007Dirk Kuyt claims Liverpool have to keep on winning during the festive period to stay in the title race.Rafael Benitez's side face Derby County, Manchester City and Wigan Athletic over Christmas and Kuyt believes the team are capable of taking maximum points from these games. The Dutch striker said the Reds are capable of challenging the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United in the quest for glory, but acknowledged that the team has to go on a winning run in order to achieve their aims."We have to win our next three now at Derby, Manchester City and at home to Wigan and if we can get nine points from those games I think we will get closer to the other teams," said Kuyt."We want to go on a run and win a lot of games. Every defeat in the league is big one for us because you just want to win and compete with Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea so we can't afford to lose many more."We just have to look at the next games and look forward."The Dutch strike...

The last sub for Liverpool, Lucas Leiva getting five minutes or so to run out at the Stade Velodrome, replacing Dirk Kuyt. The change should push Babel up front with Gerrard hanging back behind him, aided by Yossi Benayoun for the remainder of the game. Marseille have thrown away everything tonight, really poor performance from them. Injured Kuyt might miss Everton game
2007-10-09 11:48:00
The Dutch FA confirmed yesterday that Dirk Kuyt will miss both their games (Romania & Slovakia) due to pulling his hamstring. If he's going to be missing for both games then I doubt it's a minor strain so I can't see him making the derby next week. Everton have also lost a striker, Andrew Johnson will be out for a month after going under the knife on his ankle.Given our strength in squad depth, losing a striker has much less impact for LFC than for Everton, however, if the lads don't get their act together soon enough it won't matter what team we field on the day !

Dirk Kuyt Liverpool Striker
2007-08-19 13:10:00
Dirk Kuyt, officially spelled Dirk Kuijt[1] , (born July 22, 1980, in Katwijk aan Zee) is a Dutch professional football player, who currently plays for English club Liverpool FC. He plays in the position of striker and is known for his high work-rate and team play. In his early career, and often for the Dutch national team, Kuyt has played on the wing. Kuyt is an incredibly fit player and has only missed five games over seven seasons from 1999 until 2006, making 233 appearances.[2] Between March 2001 (playing with FC Utrecht) and April 2006 (Feyenoord) Kuyt played 179 consecutive matches.Growing up Kuyt is 3rd of four children. He grew up in the small fishing village of Katwijk aan Zee (at Sea), where his father was a fisherman.[2] His football career began when he joined the local amateur team Quick Boys at age 5. He broke into the first team in March 1998, playing the last six games of the season, and catching the eye of Eredivisie team FC Utrecht.[2]Dirk Kuyt Video C...

KUYT: I'LL ACCEPT RAF JUSTICE
2007-05-14 16:15:00
Dirk Kuyt knows Rafa Benitez will break a few hearts in Athens next week - and one of them could be his. But even if he finds himself left out of the starting line-up for the Champions League Final, the Dutchman insists his trust in the Liverpool manager will remain intact. He believes he won't be alone in accepting without complaint Benitez's selection for the rematch with AC Milan, because the Spaniard has created the collective will for success that is more important than any individual. Benitez, of course, is famous for his rotation philosophy - having once changed his team 99 times in a row before sticking with the same side. But Kuyt, who scored the decisive penalty in the semi-final shoot-out with Chelsea, declares that his manager's record is now so impressive that it cannot be questioned. He said: "So far, I've played in most of the big games and I am very happy about that. But that doesn't mean anything. We are in the Final and the manager will have his idea...

?I believe I can play at this level? - Kuyt
2006-11-06 03:42:01
Dirk Kuyt believes he can play at Premiership level, even if those in Holland doubted him heavily before his Anfield arrival this summer - and I believe him two. Five goals in his last six games for the club is giving Liverpool that extra edge that we (the fans) have wanted to see for so long - someone who sees a goal opportunity, takes it, and scores. In the press this morning Kuyt is quoted as saying I know people in Holland were doubting I could play here when I joined, but I just intend to give 100% every time and I believe I can play at this level. I did well in Holland, although I accept the pace is much greater in England and the Premier League is a higher level. I watched the Premier League on television in Holland for many years before I came here. I knew how fast it all was and that it was one of the world’s best competitions. Sure enough he didn’t get to shine at the World Cup but he seems to be settling in quite well in the Liverpool surrounds and his last ru...
Kuyt Won?t Play, Fowler Should
2006-10-15 09:51:01
Rafa Benitez expects Robbie Fowler to play some part in today’s clash with Blackburn after announcing that Dirk Kuyt won’t be risked at all today given the vital midweek clash against Bordeux and the impending trip to Old Trafford next weekend. Speaking to Sky Sports this morning, Benitez said Robbie Fowler had a problem with his back, but we think he’ll be available, and Momo Sissoko’s ankle isn’t too bad. I spoke with the doctor, and we think it’s better if Kuyt is not involved for this game. But he is better and we hope he will be okay for the next game. I’m looking forward to seeing Robbie in action against Blackburn, particularly up front again with Craig Bellamy should the Welshman start against his former club and nice to see that Rafa expects Robbie to play.
Kuyt May Be Fit For Manchester
2006-10-10 15:27:01
Dirk Kuyt may be fit to face United on October 22nd at Old Trafford but he’s definitely going to miss Liverpool’s next two games including the league clash against Blackburn and our next Champions League game against Bordeux. Kuyt had a scan on his ankle revealing strained ankle ligaments (which seems to be a problem around Anfield this season) to be the root of the injury. Though its a sure pain to see him out at this stage and missing the european game, at least its not as bad as was first thought - word going about that he could have been out for November altogether.
Ankle Injury Could Keep Kuyt Out For Weeks
2006-10-09 21:21:02
Always is the case, just when a player looks like he’s hitting form and getting comfortable with his new surrounds, an injury pops up to spoil the party. So it is with Dirk Kuyt who limped out of Holland’s game at the weekend and could be missing until late November with an ankle injury, the player already rated as doubtful for Liverpool’s next league game against Blackburn in a week’s time. Marco Van Basten has already confirmed that it is unlikely Kuyt will play any part in Holland’s midweek clash against Albania but the full extent of Kuyt’s injury is yet to be revealed. Overall it wasn’t a great weekend for Liverpool’s international players - Xabi Alonso and Pepe Reina sat on the bench for the Spanish game while Luis Garcia didn’t make much of an impact, coming on for the last half hour; Riise started and finished Norway’s clash with Greece but lost 1-0; Dudek sat out the Polish game; Craig Bellamy rang in his captaincy...
Golden Boot For Dirk Kuyt
2006-08-29 19:45:07
Tip o’ the hat to newboy Dirk Kuyt for picking up the Dutch FA’s Player Of The Year award and taking home the golden boot with him. Kuyt finished top of the charts ahead of Philip Cocu and Tim de Cler to take the top honour. Hopefully this is something he can replicate in the Premier League and, if Saturday’s second half performance is anything to go by, we might well see it replicated this season.
Live: Kuyt Not Starting For Liverpool
2006-08-26 19:39:06
Looks like Dirk Kuyt will be making his Premier League and Liverpool debut from the bench as Rafa Benitez has gone for the Premier League tested pair of Bellamy and Crouch to lead from the front, hopefully in an attempt to drive a first half lead before bringing Kuyt into the game. Fabio Aurélio steps in to left back to replace the injured Riise while the team in full looks as follows…. Pepe Reina, Steve Finnan, Fabio Aurélio, Sami Hyypia, Danny Agger, Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso, Luis Garcia, Jermaine Pennant, Peter Crouch, Craig Bellamy. Dudek, Kuyt, Kromkamp, Gonzalez and Bolo Zenden make up the bench.
Kuyt Completes Liverpool Tranfer
2006-08-18 19:24:04
At long, long last, Dirk Kuyt has completed his Liverpool transfer bar dotting the I’s and crossing the T’s. The player himself will wear number 18 and while it is possible that he could be handed a debut at Sheffield United, I wouldn’t expect to see him until our next league outing, or possibly making his debut away against Maccabi Haifa. Speaking about Kuyt today, Rafa Benitez has said “I am really happy. We were looking at Dirk for a long time and I’m pleased we have signed him because he will be a good player for us. “He’s a player with good game intelligence. He knows what to do with the ball and without the ball and he’s also a very good worker. His movement is good, his finishing is fantastic and I know he will score a lot of goals for us because we now have more possibilities in the wide areas and also between the lines. I’m still skeptical about his signature, however pleased Benitez and the staff might be. What’s ...
D-Day For Dirk Kuyt

Dirk Kuyt’s Liverpool transfer is expected to go through this morning with Rick Parry confirming We hope the results will prove to be satisfactory. All being well it will go through this morning. Fee Agreed For Dirk Kuyt
2006-08-17 19:21:03
Its all over 2FM and Today FM and all over the papers you read this morning but Liverpool have now confirmed they have agreed at long last a fee to bring Dirk Kuyt to Anfield, now more likely that the transfer will be wrapped up later today. Kuyt is expected at Anfield today to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms of the deal. Glenn Roeder had been hoping to bring Kuyt to Newcastle and took the trip to Lansdowne road last night to watch the Dutch striker in action in the second half as Ireland took a 4-0 hammering (without Kuyt scoring) but it looks like Rafa Benitez has finally gotten his man. Speaking earlier on, Kuyt said There was more interest from abroad, but for me there was nothing of the calibre of Liverpool, a brilliant club with an enormous reputation, fantastic support and a fabulous history. It is an honour to play for a club like that. While the fee has been agreed, no financial details have been released from the club but no doubt we’ll learn more as the...
Will Kuyt Be Worth It?
2006-08-17 19:21:03
Dirk Kuyt. He’s 26 years old and by the end of last season he had notched up just over 120 league goals in Holland. He used to play for Utrecht until he started knocking them in for Feyenoord. His name has also been touted as an anfield prospect for long enough at this stage. He came on in the second half for Holland tonight and no doubt the papers will be chock full of stories about him tomorrow with Liverpool expected to wrap up his transfer ahead of the weekend’s game against Sheffield United. But at an estimated £10m do you think Dirk Kuyt will be worth it, this season, or in the long run? Do you think he can handle the Premier League and make good for Liverpool? Me… I’m still that bit skeptical of the whole situation and personally think we’ve got much better options on the horizon. If you think different, don’t be afraid to say so!
