Se trata de una serie de episodios que trancurren en Roma, en la época de la posguerra y tienen como nexo de unión al periodista del corazón Marcello. Él será testigo de los devenires de las noches de la alta sociedad italiana, disfrutando de todo tipo de atenciones entre las féminas, aunque sin mostrar demasiado entusiasmo ni por ellas ni por su trabajo.
