Lake Marion - Pan-O-Prog Days Tournament - July 12th, 2008
2008-09-05 12:32:00
So yesterday I fished the Pan-O-Prog tournament on Lake Marion for the 4th year in a row.  The 3rd time with Ryan Brant as my partner.  We took 3rd the previous two years and really had our sight on trying to win it this year.  Its hard to have a real solid game plan, because with 40 boats on this little lake, boat draw can really dictate how you start your tournament day.I stepped up and drew boat #38 out of the bag, so that means we had to kind of wait and see what would be left for us to start on.  Most of our good areas were already covered up, so we made a quick 15 minute pass in a shallow area and I got one decent keeper on a 3/8oz Green Pumpkin/Brown Tru-Tungsten Jig.  We started down the lake and saw an opening on one of our deep weedlines.  I quickly boated another small keeper on the jig and lost another one that was pretty small as well.  I did not feel bad about losing that one, because we would need to get rid of him anyways.  We ...

Lake Marion - Pan-O-Prog Days Tournament - July 7th, 2007

Forecast was to be very hot and little wind, it lived up to the prediction for heat but with less wind.  My partner Ryan drew boat #22 out of 40 for us.  We decided to start deep and make adjustments from their.  There were two boats positioning themselves on the deeper hard bottom area of where we wanted to start so we went straight for the inside turn that had some really healthy coontail clumps.  We fished around for about 45 minutes without a bite, we then went out on the edge of the two other boats and I was able to boat a nice 3lb fish on a Bluegill DT10.  I also had another bite on a C-Rig.  We then dashed into this the inside turn one more time and I immediately loaded the rod up on a 4lb fish that sucked down my ever reliable 3/8oz Green Pumpkin/Brown Tru-Tungsten jig.  We only had two fish in the well after 90 minutes but they were both nice fish.  After no more bites there we decided to try some shallower water. We started runni...
Lake Marion Evening Outing #2 & more....

A little late, but I have been really busy.  Ryan & I got out a bit earlier on Thursday night last week.  We started out by poking around on a hard bottom spot with a Fantasy Football jig, no takers.  We then moved in and found some nice 3lb fish on an adjacent inside turn.  Ryan caught his on a Sweet Beaver on a Title Shot jig and I got mine on a Yum Craw Papi rigged on a straight shank tied with a snell knot and a  3/8oz Denny Brauer Flippin' Weight. We hopped around trying some different things the rest of the night, caught 8 or 9 fish, but nothing over about 2.5lbs.Hats off to KVD as the only angler to win two Elite Series events in a single season so far.  Sounds like he pretty much cranked his way to the victory on Grand with a Strike King Series 5 & 6 Crankbaits in a new color called "Sexy Shad" that should be available for the masses very soon.  I like the sounds of it Also, it was another Jekyll & Hyde weekend in my club tourna...
Lake Marion Evening Outing
2007-06-23 00:00:00
So my Pan-O-Prog partner Ryan & I got out for about 2.5 hours last night on Lake Marion in Lakeville.  We decided to look for some new shallow water / slop areas to go with some of our deep water stuff that we fished last year.  We tied on frogs, buzz toads and flipping rigs and worked the shallow pads & weed mats.  We managed to catch 3 bass all around 2lbs and missed a couple more.  They all came on black floating frogs.Nothing to write home about, but it was good to be out bass fishing again after being in Europe.  Also, while I was gone, we climbed to 39 email subscribers, thanks to all you new subscribers!Another note, did you see the 2008 Bassmasters Schedule?
