2009-06-10 12:23:00 The Mississippi River is one of the great bass fisheries in this country, but this particular section (Fort Madison) I think is under a little bit of hard times from last year's flodding. This time of year, fish should be really starting to gang up in pads and eel grass edges, but from the sounds of it, not much of it has grown back from last summer. So if you can find some good stretches, they could be loaded, but also very crowded. A strong wood flipping bite could play as well. Either way, its nice to see the Elites visit the upper midwest for a change, should be a very exciting tournament, they will catch plenty of fish. Widely known as a dock lake, also has a fair amount of rock & wood. Unlike Table Rock, most bass are likely to come fairly shallow. So lesson #1, go into your account and click the box that says you want a reminder, it works! Also, if you have not done so lately, click on the tab that say "Renegotiate Salaries", if you have Ike on your team, you will get $.5 of cap space back after last weeks debacle at Dardanelle. 2009-03-26 13:37:00 Lake Dardanelle is once again much different then Amistad, but probably a little similar to the Red River classic site, so if you have guys on your roster from that event, maybe think about keeping them. Lake Dardanelle is kind of hybrid body of water that is kind of lake, kind of a river, so keep that in mind. For the most part, from what I read, its a fairly shallow fishery. Based on what I have read & seen of this fishery, probably a power fishing technique will win.It also seems that on river systems, home field advantage can be a little more important. Guys like Scott Rook, Greg Hackney & Kevin Short have done real well in past tourneys on different sections of the Arkansas River. Hackney dominates at Falcon Lake!
2008-12-09 17:52:00 Last week FLW held their FLW Series fish-off at Falcon Lake in Texas. The Fish-off format is interesting in the fact that it seed anglers from the FLW East & West series in a head to head format to make the Forest Wood Cup, but there is a overall winner as well and Greg Hackney put up a sick 3 day weight of 109-06. He was just a few ounces from breaking the FLW 4 day record in a 3 day event. So that is 15 fish for over 109lbs, quick math gives him a 7.3lb per fish average.Greg caught most of his fish on the new Strike King Anaconda 10" worm, fishing pretty deep along an old road on a bluff edge. One thing that is somewhat strange, is while Hackney was off the charts, man anglers struggled to put 5 fish in the well every day.
