Top 5 Fantasy Surprises of 2006 -- #2 Lamont Jordan
2007-08-09 23:34:00
#2  -- Lamont Jordan What Happened?-- An injury limited Jordan to nine games, but we shouldn't blame the injury because he was horrible even before that.  Though he finished with 434 rushing yards and two touchdowns, those numbers are padded if you can believe that.  He put up 262 of those yards in three games.  If you're good at math, then you know that means he finished with 172 yards in the other six games - an average of 28 yards per game.  That's just what you want from your first round pick, huh? Should We Have Seen This Coming? -- Yes, absolutely.  Jordan was a breakout player in 2005, especially in point-per-reception leagues where his pass-catching ability really paid off.  But the 2006 Raiders were quite different from the 2005 Raiders.  QB Kerry Collins was replaced by former Saint Aaron Brooks which was a huge step down.  Randy Moss and Jerry Porter were moody and didn't show up to play.  New Coach Art Shell was an ol...
NFL Notes - Eric Parker, Lamont Jordan, Joey Porter
2007-08-07 19:44:00
Most of the NFL news out of training camp that is important to fantasy players is news about injuries.  This is no exception. Eric Parker, WR, SD --  Everybody has been gushing over "sleeper" third-year WR Vincent Jackson in San Diego this summer.  The news that Chargers #1 WR Eric Parker is out for ten weeks with a knee injury will only increase the hype.  The problem is that Jackson now steps into the lead WR role, and that means he faces the top defender each week.  Jackson was a nice sleeper as a #2 WR but I think he's one of the poorer #1 wide receivers in the NFL.  The guy that benefits the most from Parker's injury is rookie Craig Davis, who now takes over as the #2 in San Diego.    LaDanian Tomlinson also is likely to benefit by seeing more passes, which makes him even more valuable in PPR leagues. Joey Porter, LB, Miami -- If you're a sports fan, you know what the phrase "...sought a second opinion from specialist Dr. James Andrews...
The Bust Report: LaMont Jordan
2007-07-17 13:05:00
The Bust Report is a series dedicated to the biggest busts of 2006. We'll examine what brought about their fall from grace, and predict what might happen in 2007. Has this player's value been damaged irreparably? Or can they now be considered a sleeper? This week, The Bust Report takes a look at LaMont Jordan. Jordan burst onto the scene as a starter in Oakland in 2005. In that year, he racked up 1,025 rushing yards and 9 rushing scores. These stats were nice. Not amazing in any way, but nice. It was his 70 receptions for 593 yards and two more TDs that made him an even more attractive pick-up for fantasy owners. In anticipation of an improved 2006 season, Jordan was became a late-first-round pick in many leagues. At worst, he was a second round pick, predicted to be a solid second option at the running back position. However, the bottom fell out for Jordan and his team, and after suffering an injury, he started only 9 games. And in those 9 games, he was less than stellar, ...
