Though the company is nice, stretching the legs out on your own is always desirable.So taking advantage of a week long break following the end of stage one of the truck journey, I booked airling tickets to Lamu - small island off the coast of Kenya.A recognized World Heritage Site, Lamu is the last undiluted outpost of true Swahili culture remaining. Interestingly, Swahili was never a pure group of people, nor language.
