Wikipedia Jews Attack James Petras
2008-07-24 09:26:00 James Petras is a fine man of the Left who has long been interested in Latin America and especially revolutionary movements down there. He has long supported the FARC revolutionaries in Colombia (as does this blog) and lately he has been supporting the Movement of the Landless in Brazil. He's a great labor organizer who goes down to Latin America and works with the people, getting his hands dirty with the workers and peasants themselves. He's a towering intellect, and has often criticized Left movements from a Far Left perspectives, accusing them of being sellouts. For instance, he has gone after the FMLN in El Salvador lately for pursuing a half-hearted effort at reform.I believe he was going after Evo Morales in Bolivia lately. He's great for tearing the masks off these Latin American Leftists who the US press is screaming Commie Bloody Murder about, showing us that many of them are not even very far to the Left and the proposals they are offering are quite moderate and unlikely...

Latin America has 'created its own neighbourhood'
2008-06-02 23:33:00 by Bolivia Rising (Fred Fuentes) The drums of war are once again beginning to sound, as US imperialism steps up its propaganda attack on Venezuela's Bolivarian revolution. The new offensive has centred on the supposed documents found on the laptops retrieved from the site of the illegal military assault by Colombia that massacred over 20 people at a Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) campsite inside Ecuador in early March. This is despite clear evidence of Colombian government interference with the laptops before handing them over, which many accept would rule such evidence as illegitimate. On May 16, the Venezuelan government denounced as a "provocation" the incursion of 60 Colombian soldiers into Venezuelan territory, intercepted 800 metres over the border. This occurred at the same time as the US Navy has decided to reactivate, after 58 years, its Fourth Fleet to patrol Latin American waters. Aggression The Interpol report released on May 15 v...

Bad Omens in Latin America
2008-05-08 19:43:00 The Associated Press today reports on how thinly spread U.S. Special Forces are in many parts of the world, including Latin America, at a crucial time. "We're going to fewer countries, staying for shorter periods of time, with smaller numbers of people than historically we have done," Adm. Eric T. Olson said May 5 in his first interview since becoming commander of U.S. Special Operations Command last July. To illustrate that point, Olson said that when the 7th Special Forces Group, which is based...(read more)

Travel to Latin America
2008-04-17 23:49:00 Airline cancellations and a possible slower economy, gas prices and a weak dollar will affect most of US travelers but probably is not the case when traveling to Latin America since it is still a destination that keeps your pockets safe and now that leisure travel has being considered by many like food or rent, an essential cost….. Latin America is the real travel option, lower travel cost compared with Europe and Asia where the dollar goes further and not forgetting that Ecuador as an example has the US dollar as main currency at a lower price.  We will be still concerned about the recession and will make an effort to strictly control our rates offering the best rates on the market with short itineraries and lots of activities and will keep our belief that Latin America is and will stay as a top favorite travel destination, so travel to Latin America and enjoy what it has to offer at a low cost compared to other destinations now, travel to Latin America for less! Western Civilization: A Value Worth Saving
2008-04-13 09:08:00 Although I find it preposterous that White people themselves need to be saved from extinction, and cannot figure out any lawful way to so anyway, I think that White Nationalists (WN's) like Jared Taylor do make some interesting points. Taylor, like most WN's is a hardcore conservative, but when he talks about saving White civilization, the values he credits White civilization with are positively liberal. To be sure, I do disagree with the WN contention that Euro Whites created these liberal, free and humanitarian structures due to some unique endowment of their genes, though is it is an interesting argument. At the end of the day, it is not really falsifiable. With US Whites at 64% and dropping, a White majority in the US is probably a defeated dream. But a non-White majority in the US need not be the disaster that WN see it as. Even at 64% White, we still have one of the largest economies on Earth. Further, I feel that US non-Whites for the most part assimilate to the basically W...

Latin America travel destinations
2008-04-11 16:49:00 Latin America destinations are not only becoming favorite places among travelers around the world but will become unique. Each destination, each country offers a number of options for each type of passenger and has also a distinct tourist infrastructure to offer. I mention this because we can find quiet places that offer luxury and relaxation within unique environments like for example the Amazon either in Peru, Brazil and Ecuador where we will be able to find luxury lodges where the level of comfort and luxury is unique, natural and superb and will not destroy its environment but will preserve it and also we will be able to find places immersed in the Andes, beaches, islands and deserts where the convenience may not be a luxury but as a destination place is so incredibly beautiful and offers such interaction with nature that shows that travel to Latin America is really a unique experience, lasting and unforgettable. What Does Iran Want From Latin America?

Why The Rich Are Looking to Latin America
2008-04-09 14:57:00 Source: times on-line"Wealthy investors seeking safer havens for their capital in these troubled times may not have considered Latin America - until now. With a history of hyper-inflation, coups, dictatorships, corruption, drug gangs and social inequality, it has not been the most obvious place in which to buy property. But the region's growing economies - plus recent political stability - mean that cash-rich investors are snapping up homes and land there.Panama is experiencing a construction boom. The expansion of the canal, a free-trade agreement with the US in 2006, and the rise of a service-based economy that provides administration back-up to US companies have unleashed a building frenzy in Panama City. There are more than 35 towers going up, including the Trump Ocean Club, which has a sail-like shape reminiscent of the Burj al-Arab in Dubai. With another 300 towers in the planning process, it is estimated that there will be 40,000 flats on the market in 2010. Who will buy th...
Murtha Denies Obama Credit for Iraq Speech, Praises Reagan Administration
2008-04-04 07:48:00 The man who was made famous by his post invasion opposition to the war in Iraq is brushing off Obama?s pre-invasion anti-war stance. John Murtha (D-Pennsylvania) became popular after he spoke out against the war after he was given the gift of hindsight. "Obama had a nice view from the outside. It is easy when you are outside to make a statement like that. When you are inside, you have a responsibility to try and work this thing out. I don't know that [his speech] had an impact. I didn't even know about the speech. A lot of people said a lot of things," Murtha said. Murtha has endorsed Senator Clinton which came as a surprise to many. There were many pundits and experts that thought Obama?s stance on the war before the invasion would be a big factor in deciding who to endorse. Based on Murtha?s statement about Obama?s speech he is trying to shoulder off his responsibility for his vote by saying inside the beltway politicians had more reasons to go into Iraq. ...

Stocks Rise in Europe, Latin America; Credit Suisse, Vale Climb
2008-02-18 17:36:00 Feb. 18 (Bloomberg) -- European stocks rose, led by banks and metal producers, on optimism this year's 12 percent drop in the region's benchmark index was too steep given the outlook for sales. Shares in Latin America gained, while Asian equities fell. Credit Suisse Group rose the most in three weeks in Zurich after Qatar said it's buying shares in the second-biggest Swiss bank, while Barclays Plc and Lloyds TSB Group Plc climbed in London as traders speculated on higher dividends. BHP Billiton Ltd. followed metals prices higher in Europe, while Cia. Vale do Rio Doce rallied in Sao Paulo. The Dow Jones Stoxx 600 Index added 1.7 percent as of 3:18 p.m. in London, and the MSCI World Index increased 0.4 percent, as gains from Europe and Latin America more than offset declines in Australian bank shares and Japanese insurers. Study Spanish in Latin America
2008-01-25 19:11:00 Studying Spanish in Latin America. . . AgainI have returned to Latin America and to the study of the Spanish language as well. I have never really studied this language formally, and I basically only know what is needed for traveling (which is actually a good amount). I have always been annoyed with myself that I do not speak this language any better. After nearly two years of total travel time in Spanish speaking countries, I would imagine that my proficiency should be way higher than it is. So now I study. The Spanish language has never really sat well with me. I have a difficult time rolling my R’s (in fact, my tongue is so short and fat that it may not be a real possibility), but I keep trying none the less; thinking, perhaps, that one day I will surprise myself and say the word for dog and be understood. I know that this will happen someday, I know that this language will eventually come together, it is just a matter of time. I think I know more than what I think I do- I read...

Travel to Latin America
2008-01-18 18:43:00 Travel to Latin AmericaI should be leaving for Central America on Saturday- getting back to the grindstone. Walking down that long, winding Road. I am flying from JFK through Mexico City and into San Jose, Costa Rica. I do not want to be in Costa Rica for very long- I hope to go down to Panama and stick my nose around for a couple of days almost immediately upon arrival. There is just something about Costa Rica that I do not really care for. I think it has an inordinate amount of goons, and far too many people striving for excess. It just seems like a place where people try very hard to have a good time. It reminds me of Vietnam for some reason. I have a month long archaeology commitment in Nicaragua that begins in February, so I have a plan to get out of Costa Rica. In March, I think that I may have another archaeology project that I can get on in Honduras, which I would like to do for another month. After this, I think that I may be ready to get away from physical work for awhile ...
