Does McCain Think USA Is A ?Nation Of Laws??Or Not?
2008-06-29 14:22:00
I’m telling you, I’m on the verge of not voting for President in November and just sticking with putting my energy into the NC Governor’s Race.  Just when I’m starting to think that McCain is the better of two evils, he says something that completely disgusts me and, more importantly, concerns me about his willingness to ...

Tougher laws may make young taggers 'heroes'
2008-06-22 17:01:00
Friday, 20 June 2008,Newmarket Business AssociationTougher laws around tagging just passed by parliament may in fact make tagging just that much more ‘cooler’ particularly among minors, claims one Auckland business district. MPs have voted to get tougher on taggers by supporting measures such as lifting the maximum fine for tagging from $200 to $2,000 and banning the sale of spray cans to people under 18.“The legislation is a step in the right direction but the public needs to keep vigilant. These tougher laws could in fact bring on an unintended consequence – that is make taggers even bigger 'heroes' among their mates,†says Cameron Brewer head of the Newmarket Business Association..Curious that the same logic "engine of malcontent" doesn't apply to youth and cannabis. / BlairGet Blairs Brain on Newsfeed... http://feeds.feedburner.com/Bla-irsBrain-CanvassingForOpinion

Mexican police fighting the drug cartels face an enemy that is better funded, better equipped and better armed. The inequality was never more evident than earlier this year, when several unarmed Juárez police officers were fatally shot on their way home from work. The off-duty officers had no weapons to defend themselves because they had to share ...

Canadian Group Says Facebook Violates Privacy Laws
2008-06-03 04:21:00
You know, I would have to agree with them in principle. From what I have seen Facebook seems to take a dim view of anything/anyone that questions their “rule”. Privacy, schmivacy. From Computer World AU: A Canadian public policy group Friday filed a complaint charging Facebook with 22 separate violations of a Canadian personal information protection law. The Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic (CIPPIC), based at the University of Ottawa, asks the Privacy Commissioner of Canada to investigate what it describes as Facebook’s failure to inform members how their personal information is disclosed to third parties for advertising and other commercial activities. The complaint also alleges that Facebook has failed to obtain permission from members for disclosure of their personal information. Facebook did not respond to a request for comment. They didn’t comment? How out of character. In an unrelated story most of the University of Ottawa’s ...

ACLU Thrilled By Anti-Immigrant Laws Stopped
2008-05-30 14:47:00
As usual, they take the disengenuous line that it is against immigrants as a whole, rather then against illegal immigrants, who, the last time I checked, were not American citizens Yesterday the courts dealt another blow against the disturbing trend of cities, towns and counties across the country attempting to enact unconstitutional anti-immigrant ordinances. On Wednesday, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas issued an order permanently preventing the City of Farmers Branch, Texas, from enforcing its discriminatory anti-immigrant housing ordinance. The ordinance prohibited landlords from renting to noncitizens (including legal immigrants here on visas) who did not fall into a narrow class of lawful immigrants. The Farmers Branch ordinance is just the latest unsuccessful attempt by cities and states to legislate immigration law locally, as several of these laws have subsequently been repealed (e.g., Riverside, N.J.; Valley Park, Mo.) or shot down by the courts ...
Bush?s laws will be scrutinized if I become president, Obama says
2008-05-30 02:17:00
Maybe it's his background teaching constitutional law.If elected president, Democratic White House hopeful Barack Obama said one of the first things he wants to do is ensure the constitutionality of all the laws and executive orders passed while Republican President George W. Bush has been in office. Those that don't pass muster will be overturned, he said.During a fund-raiser in Denver, Obama - a former constitutional law professor at the University of Chicago Law School - was asked what he hoped to accomplish during his first 100 days in office."I would call my attorney general in and review every single executive order issued by George Bush and overturn those laws or executive decisions that I feel violate the constitution," said ObamaOther goals for his first 100 days: work out a plan to withdraw troops from Iraq; make progress on alternative energy plans and launch legislation to reform the health care system.Anyone else noticing a pattern here? Societal Laws And The Success Of Water4Gas
2008-05-26 18:32:00
When an employee isn’t performing at their job well one can look into the crystal ball and predict they will get. An example of this was Rudy Giuliani getting disgraced and fired from his position of prominence by the American people. But he ran such an unappealing campaign, irritated so many citizens, become such a self parody with his obsession on 911 and was seen to be such an arrogant chump that he lost his frontrunner status, had horrible support in all primaries, lost to Congressman Ron Paul in all of them and ultimately gave up. So he didn’t perform as expected and he got canned by the people and by his own supporters. In a similar fashion, when the people are indoctrinated into a certain lifestyle and then find that that lifestyle does not aid their survival they will seek out more optimum ways of living their lives. The moral code our parents had which asserted that you go to school, then off to university, find employment with a corporation and we retire at 65 with a re...

Google Maps Could Cross EU Privacy Laws
2008-05-18 20:21:00
Global search engine colossus Google has been warned by the EU data protection chief that the "Street View" feature on its Google Maps service could run up against European privacy laws if it launches in EU countries.Street View allows users of Google's online map service to have a full-colour, 360-degree look around city streets. Users can digitally walk up and down the virtual street, which is built from composites of photographs taken by roaming Google cars with roof-mounted cameras.Peter Hustinx, the EU data protection supervisor, told reporters while presenting his annual data protection report on Thursday (15 May) that if Google launched such a feature in Europe, the company would first have to comply with European privacy legislation, which in many member states is stricter than in the United States."I would encourage Google to think about how to do this," Mr Hustinx said, AP reports. "Making pictures on the street is in many cases not a problem, but making pictures everywhe...
The Laws of Men & Love - A Layman's Philosophical Analysis of the Law
2008-05-18 17:08:00
I know a lawyer, and today he said to me, ?The law is everything. It is society.? When I heard this, my heart told me, ?That is not true.? But I didn't know why. When I got home that night, I went to sleep at midnight. I woke up at 4AM, and I remembered what the lawyer said, and what my heart said. My mind searched my heart and the world for the answer, and this is what I found:The law does two things only: to limit what you can do to other people, and to establish the minimum of what you must do to other people. The law lives only in these two places - but love does not exist in either of these places. For example, I can not say bad things about you, steal from you, hit you, or kill you ? even if I think it will make me happy. These are the limits that the law sets as to what I can do to other people (in law books, maybe they are called restrictive laws). There are also laws that force me to do certain things. If I am a man, I have to pay taxes and serve in the army, and if I am a f...
