A Leviathan with a Hook And a Line
2009-12-14 01:47:00 By Karen Jones, www.JonesToTheGrindstone.com All types of hairdos walk through this maze of aisles, bins, and end-cap displays: the tightly curled, the heavily-shellacked, the Easter egg-colored, the pigtailed, and even the bald. These captains of hair commandeer their vessels as soon as they file through the automatic glass doors. The cargo ship is launched and guided through the vast selection of human staples and non-essentials. All the while, the shipâs bowels are loaded with planning and purpose; but, at times, seemingly without a single thought or any sense at all. This place can be risky, too. All day long it holds dear the most perilous combination of “traffic impeders”—the very young and the very old (and their handlers). Additionally, these polarized sub-groups can have the most interesting of hair styles known to mankind and they can butt heads like nobodyâs business. Welcome to inside the commissary, or in laymanâs terms, the militaryâs grocery ...

As Gazprom Goes, So Goes Russia
2008-05-11 06:45:00 ON a frigid evening in February, the hottest place to be here was the Kremlin Palace theater. The draw inside the towering hall wasn?t Tina Turner or Deep Purple ? rock icons well past their prime ? but Gazprom, Russia?s most powerful corporate leviathan, which was celebrating its 15th anniversary. Gazprom certainly had reason to party: ...

Crisis and Leviathan
2007-12-31 08:12:00 Justin Raimondo describes the next great folly which looms?aka, "Doing Something About Pakistan":The reality is that the panicked atmosphere surrounding this issue is completely bogus: the Pakistanis are getting their act together, and the country is not falling into chaos. The hopped-up hysterics of our media during a very slow news cycle is closely tied up with their inherent bias in favor of yet another manufactured "crisis," which puts pressure on political candidates to respond with what is thought to be appropriate assertiveness."Well, then," David Shuster demanded of Ron Paul, during a television interview shortly after the assassination, "what would you do, what action would you take?" Action without thought of the consequences: that's the problem with the formulation of foreign policy in Western democracies ? too much action and too little thought, when "doing something" is only apt to turn a crisis into a catastrophe. That, unfortunately, is how a politically driven forei...
From the False Answers Book Part 2
2007-12-20 04:28:00 From my sister blog– Last post, I did the first part of pretty lengthy article debunking Ham’s method of how creationists and evolutionists look at the same thing yet have a different point of view on it. Trouble with this logic is that creationists don’t really look at actual fossils at all. Instead they rely ...

The Leviathan and the Lighthouse.
2007-05-29 05:56:00 [Copyright notice this is my stuff and carries with it jws blogprint] So after all the blame of his three friends, assuring Job that no one is punished unless they had it coming to them, and Job is unable to figure out why such horrible things are happening to him, he challenges God to speak already and show him what terrible thing he did to bring this punishment down upon him. So God speaks. But His answer is not the account of sin that Job asked for… it is quite different. First of all, God says, “Gird thyself up like a man.” (Job 38:3). This pretty well shatters the effiminate image of a God who is all soft words and loving gestures. God is love, no doubt, but God loves masculinity as well and at this point in time, Job needed to muster up every bit of manhood he could scrape together because he was about to get a ‘talking to’ of Jehovic proportion. But enough of that aside (for now). Next His answer takes a turn. [vastly condensed paraphrase of...
a mad world, a loving God, and a leviathan
2007-05-23 22:46:00 [Copyright notice this is my stuff and carries with it jws blogprint] I’m sure the madness and wickedness of this world has peaked in the minds of many of my brethren this week as they heard of the deplorable murder of a dear brother in Christ. Jim Shaw was 73 and while I never personally met him, I have heard his name come up on several occasions and know he was/is well loved by his brethren and was a diligent worker for the Kingdom. I also know assuredly that such a violent death was not owed him. What sense does it make that the person who robbed him had to kill him? Surely if they could overpower him to take his life, they could have easily overpowered him and restrained him instead, leaving him hurt and frightened, surely, but leaving him alive… and yet the attacker made the choice to take another man’s life, altering the lives of many, shattering our feeling of safety, perhaps shaking our faith a little too? Or a lot, even… If you are trying to puz...
Leviathan
2007-05-13 01:04:00 "In that day the Lord with His sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and He shall slay the dragon that is in the sea" (Isaiah 27:1).There is a remarkable animal called a "leviathan," described in the direct words of God in chapter 41 of Job. It is surprising that most modern expositors call this animal merely a crocodile. Our text plainly calls it a "piercing serpent . . . the dragon that is in the sea." He is also said to "play" in the "great and wide sea" (Psalm 104:25-26). God's description in Job 41 says "a flame goeth out of his mouth" (v.21), and "he maketh the deep to boil like a pot" (v.31). The entire description is awesome! Whatever a leviathan might have been, it was not a crocodile! In fact, there is no animal living today which fits the description. Therefore, it is an extinct animal, almost certainly a great marine reptile with "terrible teeth" and "scales" (vv.14-15) still surviving in the oce...
