Neuro Linguistic Programming
2008-12-29 11:21:00
Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) is the practice of understanding how people organise their thinking, feeling, language and behaviour to produce the results they do. Neuro Linguistic Programming is defined as the study of the structure of subjective experience and what can be calculated from that and is predicated upon the belief that all behaviour has structure. Neuro Linguistic Programming is a pragmatic school of thought - an 'epistemology' - that addresses the many levels involved in being human.NLP is a set of mind programming techniques, similar to hypnosis, that make it easy for anyone to make the changes they want - and make them last. You can lose weight, stop smoking, get motivated and much more. Anything is possible. Thanks to NLP Connections that they offer users with a methodology to model outstanding performances achieved by geniuses and leaders in their field. NLP Connections is a free site for everyone interested in NLP Training. Resource rich NLP Connections hav...

Later, the emergence of ...

The Grammar of Words: An Introduction to Linguistic Morphology (Oxford Text
2008-02-25 10:03:00
Oxford University Press, USA (December 7, 2007) ISBN:0199226245 PDF 352 pages 1,3 MbGeert Booij's popular textbook examines how words are formed, compounded, and inflected in different languages. It shows how, when, and why to use methods of morphological analysis and explains how morphology relates to syntax, phonology, and semantics. The author considers the universal characteristics of morphology and how these are reflected in the workings of mind. The revised edition has been revised and updated throughout; it has a full glossary and a new chapter on the field's most notorious problem: the status of the word. 'The Grammar of Words by Geert Booij covers a broad range of topics from structural questions to psycholinguistic issues and problems of language change. This introduction to morphology is thorough and accessible and, like other works by this renowned author, especially strong at showing the significance of empirical facts for theoretical reasoning.' The Grammar of Words: An Introduction to Linguistic Morphology ????Format: PDF 1.2MBPublisher: Oxford University Press, USA Number Of Pages: 322 Publication Date: 2005-01-27 ISBN-10 / ASIN: 0199258473 ISBN-13 / EAN: 9780199258475 This text provides an up-to-date introduction to the morphological analysis of words. Morphology deals with the internal structure of words and how this structure affects their phonological, syntactic and semantic properties. This book covers both inflection (the different forms of a word), and word formation, the ways in which new words can be added to the vocabulary of a language. The enormous variety of morphological operations that we find in natural languages is quite intriguing. The first part of the book gives a cross-linguistic survey of these operations: affixation, compounding, reduplication, and several kinds of phonological operation. The specific properties of word formation and inflection are dealt with in subsequent chapters. The se...

Linguistic Parties

Pakistan?s construction is like a father having 4 sons, Balouchistan, North Western Frontier Province,Punjab, Sindh. If we consider FATA is 5th one. Sons may speak different languages but the ultimate integrity and solidarity remains intact. In every country there are different versions of different languages spoken in different areas. In Punjab after every 20 kilometer or so the accent or vocabulary changes. So is the case with other provinces. Problem occurs when language based groups form political parties. Such parties have the vested interests based on their small tribe or some area. Pakistan was created on an ideology based on a very strong resolution and not on bases of any language. Such parties constituted based on any language must not have any role in country?s politics. Therefore, ban on any political role by such parties should be imposed to strengthen solidarity and integrity of the country.

Naive holism, Hodges' model and a lesson from NeuroLinguistic Programming
2007-06-27 23:30:00
The pen is mightier than the sword.Words are indeed very powerful, which means we should be careful how we use them.In the mid 1980s when artificial intelligence (AI) had a temperature well above normal limits, personal studies brought me to the words that represent commands in expert system and artificial intelligence applications. The question - how might language influence our expectations of such programs? In what was a major personal project at the time (which never saw the light of day - but whose effects may be evident in the main website and this blog?) I discovered and referenced work on problems discussed by McDermott (1985).This included the choice of mnemonics used in AI programs, with McDermott comparing the mnemonics in two systems - Planner and Conniver.True: things have moved on - but history, history....Planner : ConniverGOAL : FETCH & TRY-NEXTCONSEQUENT : IF-NEEDEDANTECEDENT : IF-ADDEDTHEOREM : ...

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)
2007-02-19 14:13:00
NLP is a set of techniques and ideas that, in essence, aid self-development and enable people to relate better to other people around them. Some ideas that NLP practitioners teach are:Understanding body languageUsing particular word constructs in order to influence other peopleUnderstanding our own use of language in order to get a better understanding of our state of mindThese techniques undoubtedly work. Had the author taken the trouble to practice some NLP techniques he would have found this out.Skeptics dismiss NLP as hocus-pocus, which is not surprising as they also dismiss hypnosis. I’ll deal with hypnosis later, but the skeptic dictionary entry for NLP is interesting as it encapsulates all the fuzzy thinking and devious arguing techniques that skeptics employ, so I’m going to give a blow-by-blow account of the entry. In the first paragraph, he points out what he supposes is a dispute among NLP practitioners. The intention is to set up a feeling that these are people with n...

Assalamo alaykum w..w!    No no no, I?m not here to discuss the linguistic skills people may want to adopt or are already practicing … but the linguistic skills our youth, Pakistani young girls and boys, are adopting very fast these days.   Whether it is the language a youth is using in chat, mails (or some other written media ? blogs included), or you are gathered and talking, some how some ?slang? or profaned word is bound to be used.   Personally, apart from one or two words, I really hate even letting them out of my tongue. Neither do I encourage someone to practice verbal profanity at least in front of me, what about you, love using them or discourage the practice?   Many of us are usually not even quite aware of the meaning of the ?word? they?re using in public, mostly in front of friends and sometimes even parents.   Source of such terms (ok don?t worry you?ll see some of these terms later), mainly as per I know, is Hollywood or other American shows and with interne...
