It will not be used in the Mustang and was never planned for use in the Mustang. Instead, an aluminum 4-valve variation was to be used but that has been cancelled - the much smaller Coyota 5 liter is the only other new V-8 engine going forward and that is also primarily a truck engine. The Boss was cancelled out-right at one point, but then resusitated when the economy was in a false growth curve. Now it's in a very strictly limited production engine, and the 4-valve and 7 liter variations of it have been killed and will never see the light of day. This, the 5-liter Coyote, and the EcoBoost V-6 will replace the existing 4.6 and 5.4 liter engines - which are seriously out-dated and scheduled for end-of-life soon. The Coyote is rumored to make 400 horses and 400 torque, although the technical specs are not at all clear. A DOHC design is obvious, and this prototype appears to use port fuel injection instead of the more desirable and more powerful (and cleaner) direct injection. 2008-04-30 16:52:00 Automotive News (April 28, 2008) reports that Ford has developed a new 1.6 liter DOHC 4-cylinder direct-injected and turbocharged engine branded as EcoBoost in Europe. This is the third use of the EcoBoost brand so far, after the 2 liter and 3.5 liter EcoBoost engines in North America. Ford's Bridgend plant in Southern Wales will build the engine and it will be used in the Focus, Mondeo, S-Max, and Fiesta models in Europe. The new engine is aimed at offering a more economical and cleaner (particularly CO2) alternative to the larger 2 and 2.3 liter engines currently offered. Ford of Europe will also export up to 300,000 of these engines to the United States by the end of 2009 for an unspecified model. We know that the Fiesta and Focus European models are coming to North America after that timeframe so this is likely, along with the eventual Fusion or Fusion replacement. No photos or technical information is available yet.

Additionally, the Swift DDiS will be free of any Congestion Charges in London due to its emissions of less than 120g/km of C02. The new Swift will probably be a decent drive, with 125 lb ft (170 Nm) at just 2000 rpm being plenty to get the little car moving. What's more, the turbo diesel mill will return 61.4 mpg in the Combined cycle. Priced at £10,515 in the U.K., the new DDiS model lies in the middle of the Swift range and marks a pretty decent value for the money. The following press release is the first reference to that engine going into production, where it will power the 2008 CX-9. The CX-9 is a lengthened version of the Ford Edge, and is a bit heavy for the 3.5 liter V-6 engine it used in it's first year of production. Clearly a bit more torque will help. 2008 BMW 135i will sport a 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine
2007-07-10 04:00:00 The upcoming 2008 BMW 128i and BMW 135i sport coupes, which will go on sale in the spring of 2008, will be equipped with two different flavors of the same 3.0-liter inline engine. The less potent 128i will be motivated by a 230hp motor producing up to 200 lb-ft of torque, while the top of the line 135i Coupe will sport a twin-turbocharged developing more impressive 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque available at as low as 1,400 rpm.According to the company's press release, the 2008 BMW 135i accelerates from zero to 62 mph in just 5.3 seconds and its top speed is limited electronically at the 155 mph mark. The engine's performance is further increased with the help of air-to-air intercoolers and on-demand engine coolant pumps, "which improve fuel economy and reduce parasitic losses for increased output."As you probably see on the pictures (credit: BMW), the cars are available with BMW's charismatic M Aerodynamic Kit, which is optional for the 128i but comes as standard with the 135i.I...
