The show will star young actor Hayato Ichihara (22), who had a major role in the hit drama "ROOKIES."The manga tells the story of Yataro Sarumaru (nicknamed "Saru"), a genius locksmith who can open any lock. Like a typical teenage male, he is obsessed with girls, but despite his brilliance as a locksmith, he is sorely lacking in his skills with the opposite sex. While looking for some love, he uses his lockpicking abilities to take on dangerous cases.Ichihara plays the lead as "Saru." Sei Ashina takes on the heroine role as his childhood friend Ritsuko, an honor student who is always scolding him. Director Yukihiko Tsutsumi ("20th Century Boys") will be in charge of the project, with actor Hiro Mizushima in the leading role.The manga, which was originally serialized from 2000 to 2008, tells the story of five young men who form a rock band called Beck. 'Ghost in the Shell' Movie Coming In Live-Action 3-D
2008-04-15 23:27:00 Dreamworks pictures has acquired the rights to the popular Japanese manga series ‘Ghost in the Shell.’ Their plans are to adapt the series into a live-action 3-D movie. ‘Ghost in the Shell’ is a futuristic police thriller dealing with the exploits of Motoko Kusanagi, a member of the covert operations section of the Japanese National Public Safety Commission, Section 9, which specializes in fighting technology-related crime. The original ‘Ghost in the Shell’ was first published in 1989, and it went on to generate two additional manga editions, three anime film adaptations, an anime TV series and three videogames. Steven Spielberg helped get this film rolling and we will see Avi Arad, Ari Ara and Steven Paul produce. Jamie Moss has signed on to write the adaptation of the manga to the big screen. The drama follows the story from the anime and manga; Magician Negi Springfield goes to Japan to teach at an all-girls school. The role of Negi is played by a very young female actress. Although, I must admit that she potrays Negi really well - appearance wise (Cosplay, anyone?), I feel as though that it's odd having a girl playing a male teacher at an all girls' school, on a TV show - with a moé feel to it. Not only that, the whole atmosphere of the show is too much like the Harry Potter movies.
