US Military Finding Many Terrorist Abroad Have Lived In The US
2008-07-06 13:37:00 In the six-and-a-half years that the U.S. government has been fingerprinting insurgents, detainees and ordinary people in Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa, hundreds have turned out to share an unexpected background, FBI and military officials said. They have criminal arrest records in the United States. There was the suspected militant fleeing Somalia who had been arrested on a drug charge in New Jersey. And the man stopped at a checkpoint in Tikrit who claimed to be a dirt farmer but had 11 felony charges in the United States, including assault with a deadly weapon. The records suggest that potential enemies abroad know a great deal about the United States because many of them have lived here, officials said. The matches also reflect the power of sharing data across agencies and even countries, data that links an identity to a distinguishing human characteristic such as a fingerprint.SOURCE

2008-05-10 14:35:00 I’ve lived a pretty good life. I’ll go to heaven, if there is one, won’t I? Some people say, “Well, I’m a Christian. I believe in the Ten Commandments. Police think person lived with dead skeleton on couch
2008-05-09 10:49:00 The skeletal remains of a 93-year-old woman may have remained on a couch in her living room for months while other people continued living in the house, authorities said. Neighbors reported seeing cars come and go from the home as recently as this week before police, doing a welfare check at the request of a neighbor, found a body inside Monday. "What is a little bizarre is it appears that someone was living there with her for some time," Dallas police Sgt. Gene Reyes told The Dallas Morning News.

how have I lived so long without you?
2008-05-07 21:29:00 How in the world did I live without my TomTom? I typed in the park we went to this morning, got in the car after our adventure and asked the boys where they wanted to go for lunch, they said Burger King, typed it into TomTom, it gave me the closest 15 locations, hit navigate and we were off. For my run on Sunday I used TomTom to help me navigate through the city streets and my favorite thing about this gadget is that even if I stray from the route it will re-route me and start from where I am and get me to my destination. LOVE THAT. I am always thinking that the road is this left and end up all turned around and 2 miles further away than I should be…so in the days where the gas stations are charging $3.85 a gallon, I seriously love my TomTom…if for nothing else that I’ll save a little bit of gas from seeping out of my 22 gallon tank. If you haven’t guessed already dh and I are BOTH gadget fanatics. We like new gadgets and if we have an excuse to buy one we ...

Charlton Heston ?Lived Enough For Two People?
2008-04-06 20:19:00 Charlton Heston, 84, died Saturday night with his wife of 64 years by his side. The oscar-winning actor and former Screen Actors Guild president, best known for his roles in 'Ben-Hur' and 'The Ten Commandments', was also a political activist, serving as president of the National Rifle Association in his later years. He announced that he was suffering from Alzheimer's in 2002, and according to a family spokesperson, "He had been at home most of the past years." The family released the following statement: 'Charlton Heston was seen by the world as larger than life. He was known for his chiseled jaw, broad shoulders and resonating voice, and, of course, for the roles he played. Indeed, he committed himself to every role with passion, and pursued every cause with unmatched enthusiasm and integrity. 'We knew him as an adoring husband, a kind and devoted father, and a gentle grandfather, with an infectious sense of humor. He served these far greater roles with tremendous faith,...

A Sincere Faith and A Life Well Lived
2008-04-02 22:18:00 I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lo'is and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you.-- 2 Tim 1:5My grandmother died on Thursday. Margaret Sue Greenwell Hardesty was 76 years old. She had 12 children, 33 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. I should have posted this sooner, but it has been difficult to write.Echoing the words of St. Paul, I am reminded of a sincere faith when I think of my grandmother. Sometimes, when I was little, I would stay at her house whenever I got too sick to go to school. One of the reasons I always loved staying there was that she had statues, and icons, and pictures of Jesus all throughout the house. The most comfortable place in the world was on her couch, underneath a blanket, with those Catholic images all around me. Even now, so many years later, I can think of that and it helps me to relax."Granmommy," as we called her, was a good and holy woman. She walked to Mass every day, she someh...

Chihuahua, the Longest Lived Dog Breed
2008-03-11 12:07:00 Dogs have been selectively bred for thousands of years, sometimes by inbreeding dogs from the same ancestral lines, sometimes by mixing dogs from very different lines. The process continues today, resulting in a tremendous variety of dog breeds. Dog breeds are group of dogs, represented by a sufficient number of individuals to be interbred without forced inbreeding to stably transfer its specific characteristics over generations.Chihuahua is one of the longest lived breeds. There are very few health problems that exist and it is not uncommon to see Chihuahuas live to its late teens. Being aware of all breed related health problems from the day before you own your Chihuahua and you and your Chihuahuas will have a long and happy life together. The Chihuahua is also one of the most popular toy breeds because of its saucy personality and its devotion to its owner. This breed is usually reserved with strangers and can at times become jealous, but it is generally good with other dogs and p...

Megalodon: Largest Shark That Ever Lived, photos
2008-02-24 21:30:00 At 60 feet long, Megalodon was the largest shark that ever lived and a dominant marine predator.Twice the size of a great white shark, and with teeth 21cm long, this was the top predator of its time.Type: Cartilaginous fishSize: Up to 60 feet in lengthDiet: CarnivorePredators: No known predatorsLived: The Miocene and Pliocene epochs, 16-1.6 million years ago. Streamlined and muscular, megalodon had jaws over 2m wide. While megalodon could eat whatever it chose, its favourite food was whale. Other kinds of marine mammals such as seals and Odobenocetops were also on its menu. Most of this shark's hunting was in the open sea (juveniles lived closer to shore). It attacked its prey near the surface, when it came up for air.Megalodon could swim at high speed in short bursts so tended to rush its prey from beneath. Especially when tackling large species, it would first aim to disable its prey by injuring a flipper or the tail. Once unable to swim properly, the victim would be easy to finis...

Man Lived With Corpse for Years
2008-02-10 10:15:00 An investigation has been launched after a man's body was discovered in a flat in Bristol at least five years after he died. The body of a man believed to have been dead for more than five years has been found in a Bristol flat where a tenant continued to live. The remains of Denis Pring were discovered on a sofa in the lounge after neighbours reported a foul smell. Mr Pring, who would have been 73, was a lodger at the flat in Bedminster. It is thought the flat's tenant failed to report the death because he suffers from mental health problems. Bristol City Council has launched an internal inquiry to establish how the corpse went unnoticed for so long. source : bbc via spluch

How I survived a month without EVE Online & lived to tell about it!
2008-02-02 01:42:00 No, I'm not dead!Far from it!I'm completely healthy as a matter of fact. But I haven't played EVE since the Xmas holidays (and haven't blogged since the 5th). Well except to change skills that is; but that doesn't count as playing in my book. That's just a necessary evil. But I never planned to stop for a month. It just happened. I got busy with getting ready for CES - which was a worked related attendance (not to say that I didn't the gadgets and all). Then, I was trying to get back to speed with everything that waited for me at work when I got back. Then the usual follow-up. I even put aside my EON issue when I got it, and will actually go through it for the first time this week-end.Next thing you know, a month had gone by, and friends started getting worried. But, I'm back. Back to my regular game play. Back to posting on a regular basis.Back to New Eden! Home, sweet Home...Here are some of the idea for articles that I'll be exploring over the next few weeks:Review of "Th...

American mobility: all the places I?ve lived
2008-01-25 23:29:00 We’ve become a very mobile culture. Education, jobs, adventure, marriage - there are a lot of things that call us away from home in ways that were unprecedented even a generation ago. I’m like a lot of people in that I’ve moved around a lot, especially in the past few years. For instance, I’ve now moved 13 times since fall of 1993. Two or three times I was in a place for a couple years or more, so that means there have also been times when I moved more than once a year, with all the stress that comes with it. (And this doesn’t even account for the times I moved back into the family home through the years - I’ve had multiple tours at 3870 Eastview Dr.) I’m writing about all this because I’m currently in the midst of move 13. Fortunately it’s not a full-on pack-up-your-whole-life deal - we’re just relocating up the road seven miles. But still, moving is moving. So I thought I’d share my pain. Here’s the list of al...

Intel E8200's Glory May be Short-lived
2008-01-21 17:50:00 According to TCMagazine the glory of Intel's E8200 is very short-lived. The lowest-clocked Wolfdale of this week's release wave, the E8200 is an interesting offer given its specs and price tag but it is already set to be replaced. In Q2 Intel is set to introduce a new Wolfdale CPU, the 2.83 GHz-clocked E8300 and it will take the E8200's place at the $163 price level. After that the E8200's fate is uncertain as a price cut is likely to make it collide with the upcoming E7200 processor which will cost $133. Whatever happens, the Wolfies are most-wanted these days and will probably have that title at least until AMD's tri-core processors are released.
